Chapter 44

Audrey averted her gaze and followed Scott deeper into the restaurant. They had made an appointment to meet one of their elders here in a private booth.

Justin had already informed the restaurant’s manager beforehand that Stella’s and her party’s meal would be free by the time they finished eating.

Snowflakes started fluttering down from the sky when they stepped out of the restaurant.

“It’s snowing earlier than last year,” Hayden said.

Stella reached out her hand and caught one of the snowflakes in her palm. It immediately melted when it touched her skin. “You’re right. I guess it’s going to be colder than last year too.”

Layla supported Stella as she descended the stairs before the three of them headed toward the parking lot.

Stella got into the car before bidding farewell to Hayden.

When Hayden turned around to make his way toward his own car, he saw Audrey standing behind

him a short distance away.

She was wearing a pink fox fur coat, and her long hair cascaded down her back. The snowflakes fluttered around her as she stood under the streetlight, making for a truly breathtaking sight.

Hayden glanced at her briefly before averting his gaze. Just as he walked past her, Audrey suddenly said, “I never expected you to treat a pregnant woman with such care, Professor Jenkins. What’s your relationship with her?”

“You should really stop thinking about me, Ms. York,” Hayden replied lightly.

He continued walking to his car. He pulled open his car door, slipped inside, and drove away.

Audrey was rooted to the spot as she stared in the direction that Hayden’s car had left in.

Just then, her phone started ringing. She grabbed her phone and glanced at the name flashing on the screen before whipping around and heading back into the restaurant. “Hi, Scott.”

“Why aren’t you back yet?” Scott asked.

“I’ll be there in a second,” she answered in her usual tone.

Stella felt uneasy and nervous when she returned to the villa. If Tristan insisted on kicking Layla out, she would immediately call Eloise.

When she entered the living room, she saw Tristan lounging on the couch while watching international financial news.

Lily placed the chamomile tea that she had just brewed on the coffee table in front of him. When

she lifted her head and saw Stella and Layla entering the living room, she said, “They’re back, Mr. Somerton.”

Tristan picked up the cup and sipped on the tea.

Stella walked over to the couch with Layla supporting her, staring at his cold and handsome face.

When he didn’t say anything, she said slowly, “Lily threw out the ingredients that Layla had prepared for me without informing us. If they’re going to behave like this, I might as well move back with my parents.”

Lily glared at Stella. She looked like she had something to say in retort, but she hadn’t told Tristan about Stella having to visit the hospital. She knew her own limits. Besides, she knew that Tristan wouldn’t care even if she had told him, so she kept her mouth shut.

Tristan looked at Stella and Layla.
