Sleeping in Her Bed and Thinking of Another novel Chapter 16

Chapter 16

Brayden was looking increasingly displeased.

As his friends continued jeering, a black Lincoln stretch limousine pulled up. It was a limited edition model that stood out even among all the luxury cars here.

They all stopped as the car door opened, and a figure in a champagne -colored gown stepped

out.

Someone cried out in shock, “It’s a haute couture gown from Chanel! It hasn’t even been on the runway yet, but I’ve seen it online!”

“Damn! The Hernan heiress has arrived, hasn’t she?”

Everyone grew even more curious. Even Brayden couldn’t help but look over.

However, he froze when he saw the face of the newcomer.

The rest of them recognized her at the same time and Azalea blurted out, “Lindsay?”

The woman who had just stepped out of the car was Lindsay, who had been missing for days.

She didn’t notice Brayden and the others, as she was on the phone with Francesca.

“I know, Mom. I just went to the orphanage. Yes. I’ve changed into the gown. I just arrived at

the entrance.”

A few days ago, Klaus and Francesca had suddenly told Lindsay that they had to go to Hulania to handle some business. They wanted to bring her along.

She had come with them without thinking too much about it. However, she hadn’t expected Francesca to be throwing a banquet.

Lindsay didn’t like such events, but she couldn’t refuse Francesca either.

Today, she went to visit the orphanage she had lived in as a child and donated a large amount of money and resources.

By the time she arrived, the banquet was about to begin.

She hung up and was about to enter when someone blocked her. She looked up and saw that it

was Laurence and Azalea.

“Lindsay, where the hell have you been recently?” Laurence demanded angrily. “How much money did you spend on renting this car? Do you think that our money grows on trees?”

Both Laurence and Azalea clearly assumed that Lindsay had used their money for the car.

However, the card they had given Lindsay wouldn’t have been sufficient for her to buy such a luxurious car, so she must have rented it.

This also made them angry.

“Didn’t you say that you were cutting ties with us? You clearly have no qualms about spending our money,” Azalea said coldly. “As for what you re wearing-”

Scarlett cut in, “You can’t even buy this gown. It’s a fake, isn’t it?”

Azalea exploded at once. “How can you wear something fake to a place like this? Are you trying to embarrass our family? Go home right now!”

Azalea tried to push Lindsay back into the car, but the latter flung her away.

“I told you that I’ve cut ties with you,” Lindsay said icily. “Don’t touch me.”

She turned to leave, but a tall and burly figure stood in her path. Lindsay looked up in surprise and saw that it was Brayden.

He said icily, “Lindsay, where have you been for the past few days? Why are you dressed like that, and what kind of relationship do you have with Marcel?”

Lindsay looked away. “It’s none of your business.

Although only a few short days had passed, the woman standing before Brayden felt like a

stranger.

He had always known that Lindsay was very pretty.

Even though his friends in Hulania were always laughing at her for being a country bumpkin, none of them denied her beauty.

However, the Yorks had never bothered buying Lindsay anything of good quality, so she was always wearing Scarlett’s cast-offs. She hadn’t been well-dressed at all.

However, she was now as elegant as a princess. What had Lindsay been doing for the past few days?

Lindsay glanced at him and said impassively, “Sign the divorce agreement when you have

time.”

Kenneth had told Lindsay that Brayden was still refusing to sign it.

Although she could still get divorced if she appealed, she didn’t want to get too involved. Therefore, she hoped that Brayden would just sign it as soon as possible.

Brayden’s pupils contracted sharply. “Lindsay, why must you divorce me? Is it because I haven’t touched you over the past few years?”

He was about to lose his temper when one of the banquet staff came over. “I’m sorry. Can you please show me your invitations and continue your conversation inside?”
