Chapter 10
Logan felt something slam hard against his chest, a jolt of panic rising so sudden and foreign it almost staggered him. Something was wrong.
The Liana in front of him had the same face he had seen for three years, yet she seemed like a
completely different person.
The warmth that once circled around him no matter how coldly he treated her, the devotion
that made him her entire world… all of it was gone.
When he only stared at her without speaking, Liana’s last thread of patience snapped.
She pulled hard to free herself, and that was when Logan noticed the page in her hand. It was covered in handwritten notes. The same notes she had jotted down moments earlier while talking to Lucinda.
He didn’t know what was written, but she had been in the cafe for a long time.
What was she doing there? Who had she met?
“What’s that?” he demanded, reaching to snatch the pages.
Liana reacted fast, clutching the documents to her chest and stepping away from him.
The files contained confidential details about Olivia and the Lynch family’s divorce case. Nothing could leak before the proceedings began. She guarded the papers instinctively.
But in Logan’s eyes, that protective movement became proof she was hiding something shameful.
Suspicion sharpened into certainty. His grip on her wrist tightened, his voice dropping into something cold and dangerous. “Liana, what are you hiding from me?”
Two nights away from home. Ignored calls. Secret meetings in cafes: Now she was clutching something she refused to let him see.
Over the past two days, she had grown bolder, more defiant, treating him with less and less regard. So that was it. There was another man.
Before the tension could snap, Lucinda stepped out of the cafe and called over, having witnessed the entire scene. “Mr. Young, what a coincidence.”
Lucinda had lived long enough to think she’d seen every kind of couple. She had assumed Logan and Liana had no real affection but at least pretended to get along.
She never expected their private relationship to look like this, one step away from becoming
violent.

Logan turned when he heard her voice. The moment he recognized her, his brows pulled together.
It was Lucinda, Olivia’s mother-in-law.
He had heard countless complaints from Olivia over the years about how controlling and harsh Lucinda was. He despised her by association, even if she was technically an elder. He gave a stiff nod.
“Mrs. Lynch.”
He didn’t say another word to her. Instead, he pulled Liana forward again, demanding. “I’ll ask one more time. Who were you meeting in that cafe?”
Liana’s wrist throbbed where he held her. She didn’t answer, and the silence only fueled him.
“No wonder,” Logan said with a low, cutting laugh. “No wonder you quit your job, no wonder you disappeared for two nights. Looks like you’ve really grown bold.”
His eyes narrowed in contempt. “Liana, did you find someone else?”
