Sleeping With the Wrong Man: Uncle vs. Nephew novel Chapter 26

Chapter 26

Olivia looked at the protectiveness and determination in Logan’s eyes, and she finally felt a sense of relief.

She nodded and burrowed her face into his arm. And, at an angle that no one could see, the corner of her lips curved up into a satisfied, triumphant smile.

Was Liana even qualified to fight her?

The next morning, the storm online grew more vicious by the minute. However, the person at the center of it all, Liana, was peacefully making herself a lavish breakfast at her villa.

She made crisp pan-fried bacon, fluffy scrambled eggs, and golden toast. All of it was accompanied by a cup of freshly ground, richly aromatic coffee.

It had been a long time since she’d slowed down enough to make breakfast just for herself.

For the past three years, she’d been getting up at six every morning just to make all of Logan’s favorite breakfasts.

Meanwhile, she’d just nibble on a random slice of bread most days, or even skip breakfast entirely.

Looking back, it was quite ridiculous.

Just then, her phone buzzed, and a familiar name flashed across the screen-Max.

It was Maxine Thompson.

Liana smiled before she could even stop herself.

Maxine was the heiress of the Thompson family and Liana’s closest friend. She was someone Liana had met years ago in law school overseas.

Maxine was a fiery, straightforward, impossibly cool woman who would never let anyone bully those she cared about.

Back then, Maxine had scolded her countless times for being blinded by love, urging her to dump Logan because he was a jerk.

But Liana had been blinded by her own infatuation. She had charged ahead with no intention of holding back.

Three years ago, she’d returned to the country for Logan, settling into the role of a housewife. Meanwhile, Maxine stayed abroad to continue her studies.

They’d been separated by distance, but never once lost contact with one another.

Liana answered the call with a smile.

The moment the call connected, Maxine’s signature, full-volume roar blasted through the speaker. “Liana! Are you stupid? That dog of a man, Logan, actually sent people to follow you, and you didn’t even tell me!

“If I hadn’t seen the news this morning, would only have found out after he kidnapped you and started sending me pieces of you?”

Liana winced at the volume and had to hold the phone away from her ear. She laughed helplessly as she explained, “Aren’t I fine? The moment I noticed I was being followed, I called the police. As for everything happening online, that has nothing to do with me. I’m not

that free.”

“Obviously, it’s not you,” Maxine scoffed.

She continued, “With your tiny little brain, what can you do aside from loving Logan? Scheming behind someone’s back? You couldn’t do that even if you had someone to coach you.

Liana was speechless. She knew Maxine was defending her, but why did it sound so insulting?

“Alright, alright.” Maxine’s tone became much more easygoing. She said, “Let me tell you some good news. I’ve officially finished all my coursework overseas. I’ll be back next week! Are you happy? Are you excited?”
