Chapter 100 Let Such A Good Girl Stay
Chapter 100 Let Such A Good Girl Stay
The whole mess ended with Nancy and her grandma apologizing, coughing up the money, and slinking away in disgrace.
The others thanked Layla one by one before heading off to continue their shopping.
November quietly took the Christmas decoration items from Layla’s hands, silent all the time.
Layla was worried he might be extra sensitive during his rut and overthinking things, so she couldn’t help but reassure him,” November, you didn’t do anything wrong, and you didn’t cause me any trouble.
“If it were me, I would’ve stomped that biting robot dog, too.”
“Yeah, I know,” November replied.
“So why did you suddenly go quiet?” Layla asked.
“It’s just that you stood up for me just now, and that made me really happy,” November answered, looking up at her. Those blue eyes of his were shining.
He gently took Layla’s hand, intertwining their fingers.
His touch was so careful, as if he were holding something rare and precious.
All around them, people bustled about, getting ready for Christmas, and suddenly November’s smile seemed to blend perfectly into the festive atmosphere.
Layla felt a pang of sympathy. She wondered what kind of childhood November must have had. She thought, ‘Was he really this happy just because someone finally stood up for him?’
“Has no one ever stood up for you before?” Layla asked.
November shook his head. “Everyone thinks I’m strong enough on my own, so no one ever tries to look out for me.”
Layla felt a pang of sympathy for him. She wasn’t really the type to show affection in public.
But in the end, she didn’t pull her hand away.
They quickly finished their Christmas shopping, with November carrying all the bags.
Just as they were about to finish up, Layla suddenly said, “November, since you’re not going back to Alpha Prime to celebrate Christmas with Her Majesty, let’s pick out a gift for her.”
November blinked in surprise. “Didn’t you already make her some dishes?”
Layla couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for Leilani. ‘Honestly, how could just cooking some dishes compare to a real Christmas present?’ she thought.
It wasn’t that November didn’t respect his mother, but he just didn’t have a girl’s attention to detail.
They started picking out a Christmas present for Leilani, but after wandering around for ages, nothing seemed good enough.
After all, Leilani was the queen, and she pretty much had everything already.
Layla paused for a moment and said, “How about I make something special for Her Majesty?”
November’s eyes lit up. “What are you going to make?”
“A weapon,” Layla replied.
Layla felt a bit sheepish. Honestly, if it wasn’t something to do with mech suits or weapons, she was pretty much clueless.
She wasn’t like Weston, who was on a whole other level and could make anything.
Three days later, Leilani was out in the garden, pruning the flowers, when she got an interstellar courier package.
Mollie glanced at the nearly bald branches and could tell Leilani was in a sour mood-Christmas always put her in a funk.
And this year, Prince Atlas couldn’t even come to the palace to have dinner with her.
“Your Majesty, this just came in from a remote star system. Already scanned it, nothing suspicious,” Mollie said.
“What is it?” Leilani asked without looking up.
She didn’t seem interested, her gorgeous face looking totally bummed out.
Mollie lowered her voice. “It’s a fan.”
“A fan?” Leilani blinked, surprised.
Successfully unlocked!
“Actually, it’s more like a weapon that looks like a fan,” Mollie explained.

Leilani froze for a second, then quickly put down her pruning shears, wiped her hands with the towel her servant handed over, and rushed to open the gift box.
When she opened the box, she found a fan crafted from rare metal. Its surface was blue, like the vast ocean, feather-light in her hand, but there was way more to it than met the eye.
It could be used as a stylish accessory, a fan, or even as a weapon to deal with backstabbers.
Leilani was absolutely thrilled.
“My daughter-in-law is wonderful,” she exclaimed.
If Atlas ever let such a great girl slip away, she’d personally pluck every last one of Atlas’s fox hairs.
Meanwhile, November and Layla were busy hanging holiday ornaments and putting up spring festival banners at the Wastelands-9 Orphan Core.
Even though it was their last time celebrating Christmas here, they weren’t cutting any corners.
November looked up at Layla, who was carefully hanging some ornaments. “Layla, how did you know my mom would like that gift?”
“Because before she became the queen, she was an outstanding stellar ranger,” Layla replied, adjusting the height of the
ornaments.
Once she was satisfied, she climbed down the ladder.
She added, “She was also an excellent graduate from the Imperial Academy’s College of Military Sciences. I saw her in the alumni records.
Hence, I thought she’d really like that weapon, especially since it doesn’t even look like one.”
Even though Leilani was a mermaid shifter, she was still just a caged bird in a golden palace. November was quick on the uptake. He understood exactly what Layla was getting at.
Touched to the core, he wrapped Layla in a hug. “Layla, don’t worry. I swear I’ll never let you end up like my mom. So… promise you won’t ever leave me, alright?”
Layla didn’t give him an answer. Instead, she switched topics. “Come on. Let’s go help Celia cook. She’s alone in the kitchen.”
November looked a bit down, but his eyes lit up for a moment. He shook off the disappointment and quickly caught up with Layla.
The Wastelands-9 Orphan Core always celebrated Christmas in the traditional way, hanging up ornaments, lighting fireworks, and cooking dishes for a gathering meal.
A lot of people joked that Celia was stuck in the past-like, who even celebrated like this anymore? But she never changed a thing, keeping up these customs year after year.
Layla said to November, “Celia always sneaks a gold coin into one of the cupcakes for dessert. Whoever bites into it gets extra luck for the whole year. Just watch your teeth, okay?”
“Alright,” November replied.
Sure enough, November didn’t just avoid chipping a tooth. Instead, he bit right through the gold coin and flattened it.
Layla gaped at him in disbelief.
But honestly, Christmas at the Wastelands-9 Orphan Core was a whole different vibe. For November, the holiday suddenly took on a brand new meaning.
He realized that Christmas wasn’t just about choking down some boring meal. It could be this lively, this warm, and this much fun.
Just as everyone at the Wastelands-9 Orphan Core was in the middle of their Christmas Eve dinner, the doorbell suddenly
rang.
Celia instantly tensed up. “Don’t tell me it’s Mr. Grant and his crew again?”
“I’ll go check,” Layla said, set down her fork and knife, and headed for the door.
November followed right behind her.
When they got to the door, Layla opened it, and suddenly Weston, dressed in a bright red jacket, popped out and shouted, ” Layla, surprise!”
Layla was genuinely surprised. “Weston, why didn’t you let me know you were coming? Have you had dinner yet?”

Weston shook his head. “Nope, but just from the smell, I can tell Celia, and you must’ve cooked a lot of delicious dishes… Holy crap!”
He took a couple of steps inside, and when he spotted November wearing a mask, he literally bounced up.
“What are you doing here?” Weston blurted out.
“Do you know me, old man?” November asked.
Weston blinked, noticing that Atlas’s expression looked a little off. He shot Layla a suspicious look.
Layla leaned in and whispered, “Prince Atlas is in his rut right now. His memory’s a little fuzzy, so he doesn’t remember some things.”
“So that’s why he’s been sticking to you like glue?” Weston asked.
“Not really. It’s a long story. Weston, come on. Let’s head in. Join us for dinner,” Layla invited.
Weston nodded his agreement, but he kept eyeing November, sneaking glances every chance he got.
After greeting Celia and handing out all the Christmas gifts he’d brought for the kids, Weston finally found a moment to pull November aside.
He leaned in and whispered, “Be honest with me, kid. Are you just faking it?”
