Chapter 103 The Wife Should Manage Money
Chapter 103 The Wife Should Manage Money
Today, the mech suit forum was buzzing with excitement.
Hades had just dropped a ton of high-end mech suit blueprints, leaving the rich dazzled by all the options and the broke going crazy with envy.
Everyone knew this was a once-in-a-lifetime chance. After all, the big shots on the forum almost never put their designs up for sale.
On the same ship, in another room, Weston saw the post and instantly sent Layla a private message.
Poseidon: [Kid, what are you doing?]
Hades: [I’m broke.]
Poseidon: [Is this about the orphan asylum? I’ve got plenty of money, you know! You’ve been all mysterious for years, and now you’re suddenly acting so down-to-earth. It’s totally killing your badass vibe.]
Hades: [You’re the only one who cares about that stuff. I spent all these years learning about mech suits just so I could protect the ones I want to protect.]
Weston read Layla’s reply and let out a deep sigh. He thought, ‘Alright, Layla has always been stubborn. When we first met, I told her to call me brother.
‘But she just kept calling me grandpa no matter what.
‘And in the end, it turned into Weston.’
Layla was busy replying to all the private messages flooding in. She wasn’t auctioning off the blueprints since she needed the money fast. She just set the highest price possible and waited for the money to hit her account.
She needed to turn those blueprints into cash as soon as possible, so she could buy a big house on Alpha Prime. Registering the orphan asylum would probably mean dealing with a whole lot of red tape, and for that, she’d have to ask November for help.
Just then, her private message box lit up again. Someone was messaging her.
Layla thought it was another blueprint buyer, but when she saw who it was, she froze for a second.
November: [Hey, about that mech suit for my wife we discussed, when will it be done?]
November: [Money’s not an issue.]
Layla was sure Atlas was in a rut right next door, but the way this November was talking was totally off. It didn’t sound like November at all.
Every word just oozed alpha energy.
Almost felt like Atlas himself was typing.
But that couldn’t be. Atlas would never admit to having a wife, much less dropping that kind of cash on a mech suit for her. Layla couldn’t help but feel a little jealous of “November’s” wife.
Hades: [I’ve been pretty busy lately, but I’m in. I’ll send you a list of parts soon. If you can source them yourself, you’ll save some cash. Or I can get everything for you, but it’ll cost extra.]
November: [How many times more are we talking?]
Layla’s fingers froze over the keyboard.
Layla mused, ‘Rich and lazy, huh? Figures.
‘But hey, if he’s got money to burn, that’s just what I need.”
Seeing how much he cared about his wife, Layla happily sent a message back.
Hades: [Normally, it’d be ten million starcoins. But if you want me to handle all the parts, thirty million starcoms will do.
Atlas narrowed his eyes. ‘That’s way too cheap, he thought, and quickly replied, “Deal.”
Layla saw how fast he replied and instantly thought she might’ve set the price too low.
But whatever, she figured. After all, a guy who treats his wife this well is basically a unicorn in this universe.
November shot back with another request: the mech suit had to be super safe.
Hades: [Absolutely. The mech suit you picked comes loaded with both attack and defense features]

Atlas had no more questions, so it was time to transfer the money.
But just as he was about to make the transfer, he suddenly paused. He frowned. “Zee, what happened to all the money in my account?”
“Didn’t you ask me to transfer everything to your wife last time?” Zee replied.
Atlas narrowed his eyes, suddenly remembering. He’d caught Roger and the guys chatting about how handing all your money over to your wife was the best way to make her feel safe and cared for.
At the time, Atlas was totally lost on how to deal with Layla, so he just told Zee to transfer every last starcoin from his account to hers.
He even set it so she couldn’t return a single starcoin.
He barely ever needed to spend a dime, and every year, his account got loaded up with hundreds of millions of starcoins. Plus, he had more mech suits, ships, and starships than he could ever use.
He even owned a couple of planets on the side.
Back when they were talking about where to set up the orphan asylum, Atlas had tried to mention his planets, but Layla never let him get a word in.
So now, Atlas had just promised Hades a fortune, with nothing in his account to actually back it up.
Atlas narrowed his eyes, thought for a moment, then called Roger.
Roger, thinking something big must’ve happened, answered in a hurry, “Your Highness, is there an emergency? Did something go wrong?”
“Send me thirty million starcoins,” Atlas said.
Roger remained silent and stared in disbelief, nearly dropping his optical computer. Then, he asked cautiously, “Your Highness, you haven’t been possessed, right? You’re still my ruthless, unbeatable, totally badass Prince Atlas?” “Roger, are you looking to die?” Atlas replied.
“Oh, good, you’re still my Prince Atlas,” Roger muttered.
Roger sent the thirty million starcoins to Atlas in a flash, but man, it stung the moment the transfer went through.
Roger wailed inside, ‘That was my wedding fund!’
Not that he’d ever dare ask Atlas what the cash was for, or when he’d see it again.
As soon as the money hit his account, Atlas sent it straight over to Hades.
Atlas thought, ‘The mech suit forum has solid transaction protection, and with Hades’s reputation, there is no way he’d ever try to scam anyone out of their cash.’
Seeing how generous November was with the payment, Layla immediately bumped his order to the top of her to-do list. Meanwhile, the rest of her payments started rolling in.
Layla turned to her optical computer and started searching for the paperwork she’d need to open an orphan asylum. After a bit of research, she realized that setting up the orphan asylum on Alpha Prime was a real pain. There were endless steps to go through, and she’d need an operating permit before anything else.
On top of that, Celia and the kids would have to get their residency permits sorted out.
November had already called ahead and got the ball rolling on the residency permits for Celia and the kids, but they couldn’ t do anything else until those were approved.
For now, Celia and the kids could only stay on Alpha Prime as tourists.
“Seriously, what a pain,” Layla muttered, rubbing her temples. Alpha Prime was the richest and safest place in the universe, so of course, getting in was a nightmare.
Honestly, if she just asked Atlas for help, it’d be a piece of cake.
But she’d already asked him to help with the residency permits for Celia and the kids. She couldn’t just keep leaning on him for everything.

Meanwhile, Atlas had just wrapped up his work, but he couldn’t shake how bizarre the rebels’ attacks on regular people had been these past few years.
There was absolutely no pattern. It was like they were on a random killing spree.

As for last night, the ones who clashed with the rebels were definitely the young crew that Krish had recruited. But the rebels didn’t try to finish them off. The rebels just chased them away.
Either the group on Wastelands-9 last night wasn’t actually the rebels, or the ones they ran into on Xyphora before weren’t. Atlas sat there, drumming his long fingers absently on the table.
Zee piped up, “Atlas, don’t stress about the rebels. Once we get to Xyphora, we’ll grill them and figure them all out.” “No, I’m thinking about something else,” Atlas replied.
“What’s up?”
“Why won’t Layla just come to me for help with the orphan asylum?”
