Chapter 104 Just Hug Her

Chapter 104 Just Hug Her

Meanwhile, Weston gave Layla a skeptical look. “You want to set up an orphanage on Alpha Prime, so why not just go to Atlas for help?”

Layla lowered her eyes. “I don’t even know how long this marriage will last. The residency permit was something I had no choice about, but for everything else, I’ll handle it myself. I don’t want to owe him too much.”

Weston frowned, confused. “Aren’t you two getting along just fine? Are you really thinking about splitting up?”

“I’m only getting along with November, not Atlas,” Layla said flatly.

Weston was speechless.

He hesitated, but in the end, Weston kept quiet about Atlas pretending to be November.

Weston thought, ‘Forget it. Kids have their own way of handling things. If I spill the truth now, Layla might just end up avoiding Atlas.

‘She might not even want to be around November anymore.’

“Alright, I’ll ask around for you,” Weston said.

Weston was a big shot in the mech suit world. He might be a bit of a mystery, but he knew just about everyone.

Getting this done would be a piece of cake for him.

Layla looked at him seriously. “Thank you, Weston.”

Weston said, “No need to thank me. But Layla, are you sure about putting the orphanage on Alpha Prime? It’s not that I’m saying Atlas is the problem, but his big brother, Prince Krish, is a whole different story.

“Krish will inherit the throne. He might look all gentle and classy, but trust me, he’s got more schemes than a chessboard. You’re married to Atlas, and Prince Krish has always kept a close eye on him…”

Weston didn’t need to say anything more.

Honestly, Weston wanted to say what he thought. ‘Kid, you might have ties to the tebels.

‘If you set up the orphanage on Alpha Prime, you’d be handing your soft spot to your enemies on a silver platter.’

Layla glanced over at November’s room. “I’ve thought about that, too, so I’m still not sure about the orphanage.

“Plus, I’ve got two more years left at Imperial Academy. For now, it’s safer to bring Celia and the kids over to Alpha Prime. The other planets are just too risky.”

“Why not just rent a big house for now and get everyone settled?” Weston suggested.

“Yeah,” Layla agreed.

Once everything was settled, Layla went to check on Celia. Celia seemed fine, and the kids were all sticking to their rooms, not causing any trouble.

After leaving Celia and the kids, Layla headed back to her room. As soon as she walked in, she was met with November’s pitiful, longing gaze.

“Layla, are you done with your stuff?” November asked.

“Yeah, I’m done. What’s up? Did something happen on Xyphora?” Layla replied.

November shook his head, walked over, and wrapped his arms around Layla’s waist, his fluffy fox ears twitching restlessly. Just then, Zee’s voice came through November’s earpiece. “Atlas, when you don’t know what to say, just hug her! If that doesn’t work, just kiss her!”

November paused for a moment, then looked up, hugged Layla’s neck, and kissed her.

Layla was completely caught off guard.

She wondered, ‘Did I ignore November for too long while I was busy?

‘Was it just her imagination, or was November getting even more clingy lately?’

But November couldn’t cling to Layla all the time. There were eighteen kids from the orphanage, and even though they were all well-behaved, Celia just couldn’t manage them all on her own.

Back at the orphanage, the older kids could play with the little ones out in the yard.

But now they were stuck on a spaceship, with barely any space to move around, and Layla and Celia had to keep an eye on

them so they wouldn’t mess with any of the equipment. So Layla helped Celia take care of the kids.

Weston sat back with his coffee, watching everything with a lazy grin. He glanced at November, who wasn’t looking too happy, and said, “You and Layla should just have one kid in the future. Any more and it’ll be a madhouse.”

November just stared at him, lost for words.

Weston froze, then his eyes went wide. “Wait, don’t tell me you’re… Oh crap, did I mess up my favorite apprentice’s life?”

A dangerous look flashed in November’s eyes. He really wanted to toss this old man out the airlock.

November practically ground his teeth. “Speak for yourself!”

“Hey, I’m old. It’s normal for me to be out of commission at my age. But you? You’re still young! Oh, and I heard you got hurt as a kid. No lingering issues, right?” Weston teased.

November’s eye twitched. He was done talking to Weston.

If this kept up, November’s whole persona might just collapse.

Not wanting to deal with Weston anymore, November walked over to Layla and started helping her with the little ones. When Layla saw him patiently showing Liam how to use a mech toy, her gaze softened.

Celia, her siblings from the orphanage, Weston, and November… Layla suddenly realized that everyone who mattered most to her was right here.

Even though they were stuck on this spaceship for dozens of hours, the atmosphere felt surprisingly warm and homey. Layla found herself wishing time could just stop here, so she could live happily with the people she loved, without a care in the world.

But she knew that was impossible.

Right as they were about to land on Xyphora, November suddenly got an urgent call from Roger.

“Your Highness, they’re all dead!” Roger blurted out.

“Who?” November asked.

“The rebel prisoners!” Roger replied.

November’s face darkened, almost letting his mask slip. The situation was so bizarre that Layla didn’t even notice his expression.

Layla had just been on the phone with Annie a little while ago, so she frowned, suspicious. “What happened? Did the rebels come to break them out?”

Weston’s brow twitched. “Told you, it wasn’t the rebels. No way! I bet you guys leaked something. Once they heard Atlas was coming back to interrogate them, they just committed suicide.”

November pressed Roger for details, and turns out, Roger’s story matched Weston’s guess almost perfectly.

“We were gonna transfer them to Alpha Prime, but held off waiting for you. Then somehow, word got out you were coming to interrogate them again, and they all ended up dead,” Roger explained.

“Keep an eye on the bodies and have Andrew give them a full checkup. I’ll be there in a minute,” November said.

“Yes, Your Highness,” Roger replied.

After hanging up, November turned to Layla. “Layla, I need to head over and check things out.”

The ship was about to dock, and the orphanage kids still needed to be settled. Layla nodded. “Be careful. I’ll come find you later.”

“Alright, November replied.

November took a couple of steps toward the exit, and Weston fell in step behind him.

The two of them exchanged a look.

Without a word, November just let Weston tag along as they headed off the ship together.

Layla kept feeling like something was seriously wrong. She stared out the window, watching November and Weston’s aero- vehicle grow smaller and smaller as it sped away.

That uneasy feeling wouldn’t leave her. Layla hesitated, then pulled out her comm and tried calling Annie.

But after ages of trying, Annie just didn’t pick up.
