Chapter 114 Even More Dangerous Than Charm Beasts
Layla was about to hurry over to see Nolan when she suddenly froze.
She looked up and saw November coming in at the doorway.
November was wearing a blue loungewear, his eyes shimmered, and his skin was so pale that it looked like carved jade. Behind him, nine fluffy white fox tails swayed lazily, adding an almost magical vibe to the room.
Confusion flickered in his gorgeous eyes as he asked, “Layla, what’s wrong?”
“Nolan has seriously injured, I really want to go see him… But Tomas is also staying in the VIP ward over there,” Layla replied.
Layla was rational, even though her heart was aching to check on Nolan.
‘If I run into anyone from the Coffey family, it’s going to be a real headache, she worried.
November’s tail brushed against Layla’s pale foot, his eyes sparkling brightly. “Layla, I’ll go with you! If anyone from the Coffey family dares to mess with you, I’ll toss them straight into a black hole!”
“You’ll go with me?” Layla asked, a little surprised.
“Of course! Everyone already thinks you and November have both joined my side anyway,” November replied.
The gorgeous fox-eared boy shot Layla a cheeky wink with his left eye, and in that instant, it was like a zap of electricity hit her right in the heart.
‘Damn it!’ Layla thought.
She actually forgot to breathe for a second.
Layla wondered, ‘We’ve already survived so many ruts together, so why does he still make my heart race like this?
‘Seriously, fox shifters are even more dangerous than charm charm beasts, she thought.
In the end, Layla agreed to November’s plan, but before they headed out, she had him change into Atlas’s military uniform. As long as November kept his mouth shut, he could easily pass for Atlas.
No one would ever suspect he was still dealing with his rut.
Only Zee, who knew the truth, let out a deep sigh.
Zee thought, ‘Man, it’s just way too hard for Atlas to date someone!
‘First, he had to fake being in rut, and now he’s got to fake being his usual self by being in rut. Atlas, please, no more nested pretenses!’
Atlas, who had plenty of experience faking his own persona, slipped into his sharp military uniform, his long, powerful legs encased in black combat boots.
In an instant, he became the icy and imposing Atlas.

The two of them headed straight for the Medical Center.
Speaking in November’s voice, he said, “Layla, when we get to the Medical Center, don’t you dare leave my sight!” Atlas thought, ‘These so-called nobles might look all fancy and proper, but inside, they’re probably crawling with rot. ‘There’s no telling what kind of nasty stuff they’d pull!’
Layla totally got it. The Annie mess was still burned into her memory.
As soon as they showed up at the Medical Center, the director instantly noticed and got flustered.
The director stammered, “Y-Your Highness, w-why are you here?”
Atlas’s expression was icy as he said, “We’re just here to visit someone. Don’t bother coming with us.”
The director plastered a smile on his face, but inside, he was absolutely miserable.
The director thought, ‘How could I possibly not tag along?
‘Rumor had it, Atlas had already warned the military that if anyone couldn’t handle their job, all the colonels could just pack up and quit tomorrow.
Successfully unlocked!
‘What if he shows up at our Medical Center, thie wag patients, and fires us all on the spot?’
The director asked, “Your Highness, who are you here to see?”

“Nolan,” Atlas replied.
“Oh, Commander Sullivan’s room is just over here, and as it happens, Duke Karter is there, too, the director added
Layla really didn’t want to see Karter, but she knew if she wanted to visit Nolan, running into him was pretty much unavoidable.
The next moment, something gently hooked her palm.
November’s finger lightly traced across Layla’s palm.
It happened in a flash.
She looked up and saw Atlas with his chin held high, clearly annoyed as he listened to the director ramble on.
It was as if he hadn’t just brushed her palm at all.
But Layla found herself suddenly calm. She knew November did it just to comfort her.
With him around, Karter was the last thing on her mind.
She bit her lip and headed off toward Nolan’s room, feeling steadier.
Sure enough, not only was Karter there, but Harper was, too. The moment she laid eyes on Layla, her first instinct was to start scolding her.
Ever since Layla started insisting on leaving the Sullivan family, there hasn’t been a single day of peace in this house.
“What are you doing here?” Harper demanded.
“I’m here to see Nolan,” Layla said.
Harper opened her mouth to argue, but Atlas, standing right there, fixed her with an icy stare.
She clammed up instantly, too shocked to say another word.
With a bitter expression, Karter bowed stiffly to Atlas, then glanced at Layla with a mess of emotions in his eyes.
Layla ignored the couple completely. She walked straight to Nolan’s bedside, and seeing her brother lying there so pale and lifeless, that made her heart clench painfully.
“How did Nolan end up like this?” Layla said.
With a heavy heart, Karter said, “The energy station that Nolan’s starfleet was in charge of was attacked by the rebels!” Atlas raised an eyebrow, a hint of skepticism in his voice. “How come I haven’t heard about this?”
Karter pressed his lips together. “I honestly don’t know.”
Atlas gave a mocking laugh.
That sound had Karter sweating bullets.
But since he was firmly in Krish’s camp, all he could do was pretend he hadn’t heard a thing and keep his mouth shut. Layla could tell there was definitely more to this than met the eye. She quickly glanced at the medical chart on Nolan’s bed. It said his psychic force was severely damaged, and his internal organs were badly injured.
She frowned and thought, ‘Internal organ damage could be fixed.
‘But psychic force damage? Now that is a whole other level of trouble.
‘If Nolan didn’t recover properly, he would never get behind the controls of a mech suit or hold his position as commander ever again.’
Layla knew she couldn’t afford to hang around any longer, and something about Nolan’s injury just didn’t sit right with her.
They didn’t waste another second before heading out.
As they walked down the hospital corridor, November leaned in and whispered, “Something about Nolan’s situation just doesn’t add up.”
Layla frowned, worry flickering in her eyes. “Karter said Krish’s men were the ones who arrived.”
November snickered. “My oh-so-patient brother can’t hold back anymore, huh? Relax, Layla. I’ll get my people on it and dig up the truth.”
“Yeah,” Layla agreed.
Just then, a whole group came striding right at them.
One of them, a graceful, high-class lady, suddenly came charging over.
