Chapter 119 | Cannot Say No To November
Chapter 119 I Cannot Say No To November
Layla’s hug didn’t last long, and before they knew it, they were already on the landing pad of Prince Atlas’s Manor
For the first time, Atlas kind of wished the aero-vehicle had taken its sweet time.
After they got off the aero-vehicle, a quiet moment settled between them. Atlas thought, ‘Isn’t this the moment when November is supposed to say something?’
“Layla, did you finish the mech suit you were working on yesterday? Do you need to use the mech lab in the basement again?” Atlas asked.
“I was making it for someone else, but I still need a few rare metals for the weapons. Not sure if Shadow Alley is open now I was hoping to check it out and see if I could pick up what I need,” Layla replied.
Atlas pursed his lips. “I’ll ask around, see if they’ve lifted the lockdown over there. You looked wiped out at the orphan asylum. Go get some rest first.”
“I’m a bit hungry. I’ll go make something to eat. Do you want anything in particular?” Layla asked.
Watching Layla head straight for the kitchen and wash her hands at the sink with practiced ease, Atlas was suddenly struck by a cozy sense of home.
Since Atlas didn’t answer right away, Layla turned back with a hint of confusion. “Ninth? Is there anything you want to eat?”
“I… Anything is fine,” Atlas said.
“Alright, let me see what’s in the fridge,” Layla said, turning around and opening the fridge. She was surprised to find it packed to the brim.
Zee, the butler, always kept the kitchen stocked with fresh supplies and chucked out anything even a little past its date, making sure everything was as fresh as possible.
Layla thought it was such a waste, tossing out food just because it was past its date.
But this was Prince Atlas’s Manor, and Layla could never really feel like it was her home. She just pressed her lips together and kept quiet.

Just then, Atlas loosened his tie, turned around, and dialed Roger.
Roger picked up right away.
“Is there anything you need, Your Highness?” Roger asked.
“Has Shadow Alley been reopened yet?” Atlas asked.
“Not yet, Your Highness. There was another disturbance there…” Roger replied.
“Open it up,” Atlas ordered.
“Yes, Your Highness!” Roger replied.
Roger didn’t get why Atlas suddenly wanted Shadow Alley unlocked, but as a right-hand man, he knew better than to ask. Orders were orders. Just do it, no questions asked.
After hanging up, Atlas walked into the kitchen, watching Layla bustling around. His fluffy fox ears twitched on top of his head.
“Layla, do you need any help? Want me to help you sort the veggies?” Atlas asked.
Layla really wanted to say no. Last time, November helped with the veggies; there were barely any leaves left.
But when she saw those bright, sparkling eyes looking at her, the words just wouldn’t come out.
She thought, ‘Turns out, I just cannot say no to November.’
“Alright, you can help me prep these green beans,” Layla said.
Since it was just the two of them, Layla didn’t go overboard. She ended up making barbecue ribs, steak, and bean salad. And of course, bread.
While Layla was busy in the kitchen, Novembo Successfully unlocked! out to answer it. Zee rolled in, looking a bit
anxious but trying to be helpful. “Layla, I got a 1.1 print ba
Layla paused, a bit surprised. “What kind of present?”

“It’s a robot kind of like me. When things are calm at home, you can let Zaa’s program run on it for
Zee said
Zaa was a high-level Al, and Layla had already synced it with her mech suit before, so this was nothing new for her
Layla checked with Zaa to see if it was okay with the idea.
Zaa paused, hesitated for a bit, then finally agreed.
Zee was all smiles as it rolled in with the robot it had prepped. At first glance, it looked just like Zee, but if someone looked closer, they could realize it was actually a matching pair, like his-and-hers bots.
Layla was speechless.
‘Seriously? Are even Als dating now?’ Layla couldn’t help but think.
Zaa was still a bit unimpressed by Zee’s appearance, but it tagged along anyway, starting to get the hang of all the devices and systems in the manor.
By the time Layla finished cooking, November had wrapped up his work.
During dinner, November kept serving Layla food. Layla hurriedly said, “Seriously? Eat some yourself!
“Oh, sure,” Layla replied.
Only then did November finally dig into his own meal. Enjoying every bite of the home-cooked food that his wife had made just for him!
It was just regular home-cooked food, but Atlas devoured it like it was a five-star feast. He licked the bowls clean, not even a single bit of residue left.
Layla glanced at the spotless plates, then at Atlas, looking all regal and high-class. She asked, a little unsure. “Did I not make enough food?”
‘Figures, with his super shifter genes, his appetite must be insane, Layla thought.
Atlas wiped his mouth with a fancy white handkerchief, totally composed, and nodded. “Seriously, Layla, your cooking is out of this world. Best I’ve ever tasted in my life!”
At first, whenever Atlas tapped into November’s memories and said stuff like that, he couldn’t help but feel both angry and embarrassed inside.
But as time went on, he found himself getting more and more used to it.
Layla didn’t think much of it, especially after hearing Shadow Alley was still open. She checked the time, pulled up her optical computer to call Annie.
Atlas hurriedly said, “Are you asking Annie to go with you to Shadow Alley?”
“Yeah, she was the one who took me last time,” Layla replied.
“Did you forget what happened with the Knight family? If they get their hands on her now, she’s in deep trouble.” “Uh-”
“No need to think about it. I’m going with you!”
Ten minutes later, they took the aero-vehicle over to the entrance of Shadow Alley. Layla noticed there were fewer people here than before.
“Has Shadow Alley been pretty quiet lately?” Layla asked.
“Maybe,” Atlas replied.
Layla wasn’t wearing her Imperial Academy cadet uniform today. She went for a casual look, slim black pants, and a plain white tee.
November still had his mask on, and he was rocking a similar vibe: white T-shirt, black pants.
Truth be told, Zee was totally the inspiration behind their couple look.
Shadow Alley was way more deserted than last time. Tons of shops were still closed. Layla headed straight for the same shop she’d gone to before, the spot where she’d bumped into Weston last time.
It had been ages since she’d gotten any news about Weston.
Weston had way too much energy. No one knew how many planets he’d already checked out in just the past few days.
Layla was starting to wonder if she’d ever manage to get ahead of him.
Honestly, with how unstoppable Weston was, he could probably live another five hundred years!

“Guy, has Shadow Alley always been this desolate lately?” Layla asked, frowning as she looked over the shelves packed with parts and all kinds of metals.
She couldn’t find anything she needed.
The shopkeeper, Dizzy, recognized her right away and called out, “Desolate? Nah, it’s not that. Shadow Alley just got the all- clear to open up again!
“Hey, sweetheart, you’re back! I remember you from last time. So, what do you need? For you, I’ll knock 20% off, no problem?”
November had been standing quietly to the side, looking every bit the chill fox with his twitching ears, but when he heard the shopkeeper, his eyes narrowed dangerously. “You’re so old. Don’t get so familiar with her.”
Dizzy instantly bristled.
“Hey, kid, I’m only thirty-eight! I’m still in my prime! How am I old?” Dizzy shot back.
November pointed at himself and Layla. “We’re only twenty. So, tell me. Doesn’t that make you old?”
Dizzy’s mouth twitched. ‘Where did this brat come from?’ he thought.
Layla was both amused and exasperated by November’s antics. She quickly said, “Don’t be mad. He is just joking around. But thanks anyway, you just don’t have what I’m looking for.”
Dizzy wasn’t about to let it go. He fired back, “I’ve got more stuff here than you can imagine! If you can think of it, I’ve got it. There’s nothing here you won’t need!”
