Chapter 121 Reassure Her
Chapter 121 Reassure Her
Layla thought, ‘Atlas must really want that Hellwing Starbeast skeleton, huh?’
Truth be told, Atlas really did want it.
He wanted to secure that skeleton and then have Layla help him install it onto Ares down in the mech suit workshop in the basement of his estate.
That way, he’d have a perfect excuse to keep her at home.
And he’d get to eat her cooking all the time.
Thinking it over, Atlas didn’t hesitate. He had Zee shoot a message straight to his mom, Queen Leilani.
He was hitting her up for some cash.
Leilani was painting in her studio. At first glance, her canvas looked like two jagged cliffs split apart.
The colors at the top grew lighter.
The colors at the bottom deepened into darker shades.
Anyone from Meridia would instantly know Leilani was painting the planet’s famous abyss.
When Leilani got the message, she froze for a few seconds.
Leilani replied, [Kiddo, did someone steal your account or what?]
Atlas texted, [Uh, no…]
Atlas: [I’m out shopping with Layla, and I want to buy something, but I’m out of starcoins.]
Admitting to Leilani that he was out of starcoins actually made Atlas feel a bit awkward.
Ever since he was a kid, he’d never even shed a tear in front of her, let alone acted all cute or asked for anything.
When he was little, he just didn’t have that kind of emotional bond with her. And as he got older, he understood how hard she had it, so he’d never dream of asking for favors.
But he didn’t really have any friends. Besides his subordinates, the only person he could hit up for money was Leilani.
Leilani could only sigh, feeling a bit helpless.
‘Well, at least my son finally knows how to treat his girl right. That’s something,’ she thought. ‘But if he keeps blowing through starcoins like there’s no tomorrow, how are these two supposed to survive when they’re broke?’
But soon enough, Leilani felt at ease about it.
‘Oh well, as long as my son is happy, Leilani thought to herself. Besides, this is the first time Atlas has ever come to me for help!’
Leilani didn’t hesitate. She transferred 200 million starcoins to Atlas right away.
Leilani texted, [Kiddo, go ahead and spoil your girl! If you need more, just come ask me!]
The lights above the display case made the Hellwing Starbeast skeleton shimmer with a silvery glow.
It looked like something totally out of a regular person’s league. No way anyone normal could afford that.
November had been standing there for ages, and Layla couldn’t help but feel a bit sorry for him. She was just about to tell the shopkeeper to take both items down for them.
But November spoke up first.
He lifted his chin with that regal air and asked, “Layla, did you find a rare metal you like?”
“Yeah, what’s up?” Layla replied.
“Do you need anything else?”
“Nothing else for now.”
“Let’s just buy them both, then,” November said breezily, shooting a look at Dizzy, who was still in shock. “I’ll take both. The rare metal and the Hellwing Starbeast skeleton.”
Dizzy’s pipe dropped right out of his mouth.

starcoins?’
Of course, she hadn’t spent a single starcoin, not even all those mech suit materials Atlas had sent her before.
But she couldn’t help asking, “Ninth, are you planning to ask Weston to tweak your mech suit for you?”
“No, I want you to do it,” Ninth told her.
“Me?” Layla stared at November’s serious gaze for a few seconds and then asked again, “You want me to install the Hellwing Starbeast skeleton on Ares?”
November nodded. He knew Layla would be totally floored by this.
Actually, Ares was rock solid, and it had some seriously advanced Al running the show.
Layla would never mess up Ares.
If Layla showed any excitement or looked a bit unsure right now, he could totally jump at the chance to comfort her.
‘I could just pull her into my arms and reassure her, Atlas thought to himself.
But instead, he caught a glimpse of panic on Layla’s face.
Of course, Layla was freaking out. Because she thought her cover was blown, and November had figured out she was Hades!
After all, the Hellwing Starbeast skeleton was a super-rare, high-grade material. Even Weston would be thrilled out of his mind if he ever laid eyes on one.
And Ares was the top-ranked mech suit in all of Alpha Prime.
There’s just no way a freshman in the Mech Engineering Division could ever get their hands on something like that!
“Layla, what’s up?” Atlas asked.
“Oh, it’s nothing… It’s just, I’m only a first-year. What if I mess up Ares? Or waste all that insanely rare material?” Layla stammered, sounding nervous.
“Don’t worry.”
They arrived at the estate as they were talking. Layla was itching to work on Ares, but she was too worried about blowing her cover, so she had to turn down November’s offer, even though it hurt.
November gave her a regretful look. “Alright, if you don’t want to, that’s fine. It’s getting late. Let’s just call it a night and get some rest.”
But before Layla could even turn down the sly fox, November got a call from one of his subordinates. They’d finally made some progress on the rebels they’d been investigating.”
Sleep was off the table for now.
November reluctantly kissed Layla on the corner of her mouth and then slipped the Ares mech suit key into her hand.
“If you ever get bored, just take Ares down to the basement and mess around with it,” November said.
Layla’s eyes sparkled. “Really? Can I?”
“Of course,” November replied.
Layla was super curious about Ares. After all, it was crafted by a legendary mech engineer from a century ago.
Every mech suit that master built was a total powerhouse, and the fact that Ares was still going strong after all these years said it all.
But then that master disappeared from the world. Nobody knew where he’d gone, whether he was still alive, or if he’d left anyone behind.
In the end, Layla hesitated for a moment, but curiosity got the better of her. She clutched the mech suit key and made her way down to the basement.
The first time she came here, Atlas told her she wasn’t allowed in the basement.
But it hadn’t even been that long, and Layla had already come down here a bunch of times.
She scanned her optical computer like she’d done it a hundred times, unlocking the mech suit workshop. On the empty floor, she activated Ares with the key.
All at once, with a thunderous boom, a massive, jet-black mech suit appeared, its cold, intimidating vibe hitting her head-on. It was uncanny how much it reminded her of Atlas.
“Who are you?” The voice was deep and gravelly, with a trace of confusion, cold as ice.

Layla’s own mech suit had Al, sure, but she knew the ultimate mech suit in the whole universe was this one, right here. It was Ares.
“Hello, Ares. I’m Layla,” Layla said, her voice a little shaky.
Honestly, her heart was practically pounding with excitement. As a mech engineer, running into a top-tier mech suit like this was basically her dream come true.
She was dying to crack it open and see what made it tick.
Maybe then she’d finally get a clue about just how insane that old master’s skills really were.
But this was Atlas’s exclusive mech suit, the most prestigious one on all of Alpha Prime.
Rumor had it that Krish was the first to set his sights on Ares, but Ares didn’t even bother with him.
It dismissed him with chilling indifference. “Your talent is far too lacking. You’re not qualified to pilot me.”
In all of Alpha Prime, Ares was probably the only one bold enough to say something like that to him.
If it had been any other mech suit, it would’ve been dismantled.
Layla, out of respect for this mech suit with such a storied legacy, actually wondered if she should reveal that she was Hades herself.
But in the very next instant, with a sudden thud, Ares dropped to one knee before her.
