Chapter 130 He’s So Jealous
Chapter 130 He’s So Jealous
As soon as Layla and Bruce started their PK, the other students went absolutely nuts.
No one bothered with the other matches anymore. They all squeezed over to this arena, eager to catch the action up close.
With so many people packed in, it was impossible to avoid the crush.
Herbert had been standing in the best spot to watch, but suddenly someone yanked him from behind.
He turned around, annoyed. “Who the hell?”
But when he saw who it was, his scowl vanished in a flash, replaced by a big, fawning grin. “Oh, Your Highness! What brings you here?”
Atlas didn’t even bother to respond.
Herbert kept grinning and quickly slipped out of the way, giving up the prime spot to Atlas, who was looking none too pleased.
Atlas wasn’t wearing his mask.
He couldn’t pretend he was in a rut anymore, and now he was thinking about getting to know Layla as his true self.
But when he glanced around at the space where nobody was around him and saw Herbert already distancing himself from him, Atlas’s brows drew together.
For years, the people of Alpha Prime had always respected and feared Prince Atlas, the top commander.
He’d never cared what the ordinary folks thought of him.
But even Layla kept her distance from him, just like everyone else, acting all respectful and cautious. That really annoyed him.
Meanwhile, up in the arena, Layla and Bruce were locked in a fierce battle, each testing the other’s strength and skill.
As the fight heated up, they developed a mutual understanding, like true rivals meeting their match. Their mech suits tore through the air faster and faster, leaving nothing but streaks and afterimages overhead.
Bruce was practically buzzing with excitement, shouting as he fought, “Your reflexes are insane! Why’d you choose the Mech Engineering Division?”
Layla kicked Bruce’s mech suit right in the knee, and as soon as his mech dropped, she brought her weapon crashing down toward the top of its head.
“It’s a long story,” she replied.
Bruce barely dodged, glancing back. “Let’s talk it out next time when we’ve got more time!”
Layla nodded. She wanted to ask Bruce if he knew anything about that legendary mech engineer.
She also wanted to check out Bruce’s mech suit.
‘With skills like that, bet he’s got his own mech suit, Layla thought.
Bruce’s skills really caught Layla off guard. “How long have you been piloting mech suits?” she asked.
“I started when I was eight,” Bruce replied.
Layla suddenly understood why Alex would lose to him.
Even as they bantered back and forth, neither of them missed a beat. Their fight was nonstop, and their moves were a total blur.
The crowd could see they were talking, but with how fast they were going and how far away everyone was, nobody could make out a single word.
Annie had dragged Wallace and the others off to the side as soon as Atlas showed up, but before long, she was mesmerized by the match on stage. She muttered, “Why does it feel like those two are fighting with such chemistry?”
Atlas cut in coldly, “No, they’re not.”
Atlas’s frosty voice made Annie jump, her cat ears twitching in fright. She instantly ducked behind Wallace’s chubby body. ‘Holy crap, Prince Atlas just talked to me! That’s enough to scare me to death!’ Annie thought.
Atlas squinted, his eyes snapping back to the

Bruce was ridiculously fast. He was a top-tier shifter, and everyone knew cheetah shifters were basically speed dernons.
On top of that, the guy had been piloting mech suits since he was a kid, so finding any weakness was nearly impossible, If Layla could nail this hit, she’d send Bruce flying right off the Mech Combat Arena.
But right at that moment, Layla noticed a big gap in the crowd, and there was Atlas, standing tall and stiff in his black military uniform, eyes cold and sharp, brows drawn tight.
He was clearly in a foul mood.
Layla froze for a second.
‘Why is he here?’ Layla thought. ‘And from the look on his face, this is definitely not his rut period.’
But in that split second when Layla spaced out, Bruce seized his chance.
He landed a punch right on the cockpit of Layla’s mech suit. Layla quickly tried to back up, but she totally forgot she was already at the edge of the arena.
Her mech suit tumbled right off the stage.
“God, that junior is crazy strong! He actually managed to beat Layla!” someone in the crowd shouted.
“You know, Layla’s a sophomore and regular troopers can’t even touch her!” another chimed in.
Suddenly, everyone was hyping up Bruce, but he just frowned, hopped out of his mech suit, and strode right up to Layla.” You zoned out just now!”
“Yeah,” Layla replied.
“Why?”
Layla didn’t really care about winning or losing. After handing the training mech suit back to the teacher, she said quietly, “I just wasn’t focused.”
“Let’s have another match next time,” Bruce said, clearly not satisfied with how.things ended.
He could tell Layla was seriously strong, and she hadn’t even gone all out yet.
Just thinking that someone this powerful might actually be his cousin made Bruce’s eyes practically sparkle as he looked at Layla.
Atlas stood up in the stands, one hand on the railing, watching Layla and Bruce make eye contact and chatting away, looking like they were really hitting it off. ‘Are they seriously getting along that well?’ Atlas thought, feeling a little sour.
Atlas’s fingers dug into the iron railing, warping the metal beneath his grip.
Zee was freaking out in his earpiece. “Atlas, you gotta calm down! This is a school. Keep your psychic force under control! “That little cheetah shifter is totally flirting with Mrs. Zimmer, but she’s not interested in him at all! You’re the top shifter on Alpha Prime! Mrs. Zimmer would never fall for anyone else!”
Atlas narrowed his eyes at Layla.
But Layla never even glanced his way.
Atlas then turned and stomped off, his military boots hitting the floor so hard that cracks spread across the solid surface. Once Atlas left, the tension in the Mech Combat Arena finally started to ease up.
Herbert frowned, scratching his head. “Seriously, what was His Highness doing here anyway?”
If even Herbert was clueless, the students were even more in the dark.
With Atlas gone, the students finally relaxed and started chatting excitedly about how awesome Bruce was.
A bunch of people rushed over, all trying to buddy up to the future powerhouse.
Annie walked up to Layla and tried to comfort her. “Hey, don’t feel bad! You’re a Mech Engineering major. Losing to someone from the Trooper Division isn’t a big deal!”
Alex couldn’t help but roll his eyes. “What’s that supposed to mean, Annie?”
“Oh, I didn’t mean it’s embarrassing for Trooper folks like you to lose to a junior!” Annie hurried to explain.
Alex shook his head.
Wallace was off to the side, hugging his bag of chips and grinning.
Layla looked at her friends and finally felt herself relax inside. Losing to Bruce didn’t bother her one bit.
Over on the other side, Bruce was getting swarmed by people, with Herbert looking super excited right in the middle of it all.

Annie, worried Layla might be bummed about losing, instantly linked arms with her. “Come on, let’s grab some food! I’m starving!”
Wallace chimed in, waving his hand. “Same here! I’m starving!”
Alex gave him an eye roll. “Seriously? You’ve been munching nonstop, and you’re still hungry?”
Layla agreed to head to the cafeteria with her friends, but she couldn’t help sweeping her gaze over the stands, searching for Atlas, only to realize he was already gone.
Just then, her optical computer pinged.
It was a message from Atlas.
Atlas: [I’m at your dorm. Come over.]
