Chapter 133 Here Comes The Jealous Guy

Chapter 133 Here Comes The Jealous Guy

But today was also the day Layla and Bruce had agreed to head to the hospital for a genetic test.

Bruce was already sure Layla was his cousin, but he kept his mouth shut about his family. No matter how much she asked, he wouldn’t spill a thing.

In the end, Layla decided to go through with the genetic test first.

As for whether Bruce’s family was actually connected to the legendary mech master Louis, they’d have to wait for the test results to find out.

Both of them were rocking their Imperial Academy uniforms, and with Layla’s youthful beauty and Bruce’s bold swagger, they had an undeniable presence that turned heads wherever they went.

Even though their features were totally different, they both had that unmistakable aura of greatness.

People passing by in the hospital hallway couldn’t help but steal a few extra glances.

Then, Layla noticed Andrew passing by, checking her out a couple of times.

Andrew subtly sized up Bruce standing next to Layla, gave her a quick nod, and kept walking.

Bruce asked curiously, “That guy must be a high-ranking military doctor. Do you know him?”

“Yeah, last time I was on a spaceship and ran into the rebels. Prince Atlas’s troops showed up, and that’s when I met Colonel Gill,” Layla replied.

Layla didn’t catch the weird look on Bruce’s face when she mentioned the rebels.

Layla was still wondering, ‘Would Colonel Gill tell Atlas he saw me here?

‘Probably not.

‘Colonel Gill isn’t like Colonel Lewis. He’s not the type to gossip.’

They headed into the medical room, got their blood drawn for the test, and just three minutes later, the results were ready.

“Your genetic match is 82%, so you’re definitely cousins,” the doctor said. “One of you has got a wolf shift form, the other’s a leopard, and both of you have crazy strong psychic force and top shift tiers.”

He sounded excited. “Your family’s got some seriously elite genes. And honestly, the women in your family? Off-the-charts fertility!”

Bruce just scoffed, but Layla’s face went pale.

She’d been with November during his rut not long ago, and she hadn’t taken any meds.

The doctor kept going, “And with the women in your family being so insanely fertile and having such high shift tiers, you could end up with a crazy high genetic match with other top-tier shifters.

“Honestly, that makes you the kind of girl everyone’s after in the marriage market!”

The doctor shot Layla a heated look. “Layla, do you have a boyfriend, or maybe someone you’re planning to marry?” “I have a husband,” Layla said firmly.

“Oh, what a pity,” the doctor said. Even though he was super interested in Layla’s bloodline and genes, now that she was married, he just wished her well and sincerely hoped she’d soon have a smart, healthy baby.

In this interstellar age where fertility was a real struggle, that was pretty much the highest blessing one could get.

Layla left the exam room looking troubled, her mind racing. ‘Should I come back later by myself and buy some birth control meds?’ she wondered.

Since the weekend was coming up, she didn’t have anywhere to be. After taking the meds, she’d just hole up in her dorm and take it easy.

Those meds always left her wiped out for a couple of days.

But when Layla looked up, she realized Bruce looked even more worried than she was.

“Hey, Bruce, what’s up?” Layla asked.

“Wait, you’re married? Who is he? Is he good to you? What about his family? Hold on, how come I’ve never met him? Did he ditch you or something…?” Bruce rattled off, long soba wak

“Stop!” Layla cut him off, her mouth twitching.

‘Seriously, his brain just runs wild,’ Layla thought.

But Bruce was feeling pretty salty about the whole thing.

He’d finally tracked down his cousin, and now she was already swept away by some guy. No wonder he felt so frustrated.

If the rest of the family ever caught wind of this… Bruce was already lighting a candle for his future cousin-in-law, even though he’d never met the guy.

‘That poor dude’s doomed, Bruce thought.

Layla checked the time. She needed to pick up some meds real quick and then head to Wastelands-9 Orphan Core. Leilani was probably arriving any minute.

“Bruce, you should head back to school. I’ve got something to take care of,” Layla said.

“Weren’t you going to visit Ms. Brennan at Wastelands-9 Orphan Core? I might as well tag along and thank her for looking after you all these years,” Bruce said.

“Today’s not a good day,” Layla replied.

“Wait, why not? Where are you going?” Bruce called out, hurrying after her as she turned to leave.

Layla was at a loss for words. ‘Seriously, why is he so clingy?’ she thought.

As Bruce caught up, Layla quickly asked the doctor for the birth control meds and stuffed them into her pocket before Bruce could notice.

Bruce was sharp. He could tell Layla was definitely hiding something from him.

“Layla, are you sick? Is it serious? Don’t try to hide it! These days, even a lot of so-called incurable diseases can be treated!” Bruce blurted out, looking genuinely worried.

Layla was at a loss for words.

She was just about to say something when she looked up and saw Atlas striding over.

Atlas, looking every bit the cold, commanding prince in his crisp military uniform, walked in with that icy indifference of his. The whole hospital instantly went tense.

Everyone passing by snapped to attention and saluted, looking nervous as hell.

Layla just stood there, totally stunned.

‘What’s he doing here?’ she thought, her mind spinning.

Turned out, after spotting Layla, Andrew, though nowhere near as gossipy as Roger, was still worried she might be sick, so he gave Atlas a heads-up right away.

He also let Atlas know that the person with Layla was Bruce, Imperial Academy’s top freshman this year.

Atlas had just met up with his mother when he got Andrew’s message. Without hesitation, he ordered the aero-vehicle to fly straight to the hospital.

Leilani, meanwhile, remained seated in the aero-vehicle parked right outside the hospital entrance.

Atlas strode up to Layla, shooting Bruce a frosty glance before locking his icy eyes back on her.

“Come with me,” he said, his voice low and commanding.

Layla pressed her lips together.

She knew exactly what he meant. He wanted her to go to Wastelands-9 Orphan Core with him. Atlas would never let Leilani go alone.

And honestly, she should be there anyway.

She didn’t want Celia to end up offending Her Majesty somehow.

But now, Atlas was just putting it out there in front of everyone with so many eyes on them and her cousin right beside her, giving her a totally confused look.

Unlike everyone else who seemed intimidated by Atlas, Bruce was practically bouncing with excitement, his eyes sparkling like a fan meeting his idol.

“You’re Prince Atlas, right?” Bruce blurted out, barely able to contain his enthusiasm.

Lots of young people idolized Atlas, and Bruce was no different, even if they were technically on opposite teams.

Atlas gave him a cold glance, then turned and walked off.

After a few steps, he realized Layla wasn’t following and said impatiently, “Keep up.”

Layla had no choice. With all eyes on her, she couldn’t explain, so she turned to Bruce and said, “Bruce, you should head

back to school. Prince Atlas needs me for something. I’ll find you once it’s done.”

“Okay, my dear,” Bruce replied.

Atlas was already icy and aloof, but the instant he heard Bruce call her my dear, his dark eyes sharpened, a chill slicing through the air.

‘My dear?’ Atlas’s thoughts spun, jealousy flaring up.
