Chapter 137 She Helped You Through Your Rut
Caleb’s expression froze. He still wasn’t used to how Xanthe acted around him now.
Back then, Xanthe was always chasing after him, calling him “Caleb” so sweetly every chance she got. Even after he dumped her, she was still crazy about him.
But now… He just put up with it.
Xanthe’s shift tier was now SS Tier, and her psychic force was insanely strong. If they went through a rut together, it would level up both their psychic force.
Their future was looking more promising than ever.
If the James family didn’t start producing some real talent soon, Krish might just drop them.
Krish was about to ditch the Sullivan family, but thanks to Xanthe, he’d brought them back into the fold.
But lately, Karter seemed to be pulling away from Krish.
But that wasn’t Caleb’s problem.
His main goal right now was to make Xanthe love him like crazy again.
“Xanthe, tomorrow is Prince Krish’s wedding. I’ll take you with me, and it’ll be only natural for you to join the Crown Squad,” Caleb said.
“Okay,” Xanthe replied, her anger fading as a small smile appeared on her face.
‘Caleb’s just a stepping stone now, and that’s all he’s good for,’ Xanthe thought.
‘If Dad hadn’t started pulling away from Prince Krish, I wouldn’t even waste my time on Caleb, that idiot, Xanthe thought, rolling her eyes.
Honestly, every single one of the original female lead’s ex-fiancés was pure cannon fodder.

On Alpha Prime, marriage was completely free-one man with multiple wives, one woman with multiple husbands, or just one husband and one wife, it was all allowed.
The only condition was that both partners had to agree.
For example, if a man wanted to take a second wife, he needed the consent of his first wife. Likewise, if a woman wanted another husband, she needed her first husband’s consent as well.
Most people wouldn’t agree to that, so monogamy was the default on Alpha Prime.
But there were always exceptions.
Take Krish, for instance. He was set to be the next king of Alpha Prime, and while the spot for Crown Princess was still up for grabs, he’d already got three wives.
Now, he was about to marry his fourth, Angelina Logan, the oldest daughter of the Logan family from Meridia.
The Logans were Meridia’s nobility, and Angelina’s mom was as close as friends with Leilani. For a long time, Angelina couldn’t decide between Krish and Atlas.
She’d saved Atlas’s life as a kid, and she was the only non-relative woman Atlas-who’d got a reputation for being a total savage-ever let near him.
Angelina had always believed she held a special place in Atlas’s heart.
But after Atlas hit her at the Zimmer Manor last time, Angelina started questioning everything, and she switched sides to Krish with no hesitation.
But her genetic compatibility with Krish was low, and she wasn’t royalty on Meridia, so the best she could do was become one of his wives.
Definitely not the Crown Princess.
Angelina resented it, but she wasn’t about to give up. After all, there were quite a few wives who’d managed to climb all the way to Queen before.
If she could win Krish’s heart, give him gifted children, and be a real asset to him, maybe she could become Crown Princess one day, or even Queen.
Successfully unlocked!
Angelina’s fighting spirit flared up when she thought about the current Quin, Leilani.
Even though it wasn’t a royal wedding for the Crown Princess, it was still Prince Krish’s big day, and the whole place was

buzzing with excitement.
Videos were streaming everywhere on the floating aero-vehicles above the streets, and every screen in the city was flashing blessings for the happy couple.
Krish, dressed in an immaculate white suit, smiled warmly and turned to Atlas, who was sitting across from him. “Atlas, look at me, four wives already. When’s your turn to tie the knot?”
Atlas chuckled. “It’s not a numbers game, you know. It’s all about finding the right one.”
“Atlas!” Leilani shot him a gentle look and then gave the King a resigned smile. “He’s just envious of his brother, that’s all.” The King knew his youngest son was already married, but Atlas was so low-key about it that he didn’t even want a wedding. Honestly, the King couldn’t help but feel proud.
He offered Atlas a gentle smile. “No need to rush, Atlas. You’ll find the one who’s truly meant for you.”
Atlas thought of Layla’s bright, stubborn face, and a small smile tugged at his lips. He was in a great mood.
But then he remembered what Layla had told him not long ago. She’d warned him not to come looking for her when his rut hit.
Atlas’s smile faded as his thoughts darkened.
Krish glanced around at the others. His gentle smile was still in place, but inside, his heart sank.
‘Is Dad getting closer to Atlas?’ Krish wondered.
Everyone at the table was caught up in their own feelings.
Angelina, sitting nearby, felt her emotions all over the place. She realized Atlas hadn’t looked at her even once during the whole conversation.
‘Did he ever give a damn about me?’ Angelina thought, a sharp ache twisting in her chest.
‘And that time… Why did he have to go and hit me?’ She kept replaying the moment in her mind.
The Logan family had buried the whole thing, and not a word got out. Not even Krish knew.
If this blew up, Angelina’s chances of marrying Krish would be toast.
With Krish gone on official business halfway through the party, Angelina finally spotted her opening. She called out to Atlas just as he was about to head out.
“Prince Atlas, I’m marrying Prince Krish now. Aren’t you even a little upset?” Angelina blurted out, her voice shaky.
Atlas turned back, looking genuinely puzzled. “Why would I be upset?”
“So you really don’t care about me anymore,” Angelina said, her smile bitter. Even though she’d chosen Krish in the end, Atlas’s indifference still stung. “Is it because of that girl, Layla?”
Atlas, who had been looking so laid-back just a second ago, suddenly narrowed his eyes, a dangerous glint flashing in them. “What are you trying to say?”
“That time, when your rut hit, and you hit me, was it Layla who helped you through it?” Angelina demanded.
“Angelina, I know you’re smart enough to watch what you say. Don’t bring up Layla again, understand?” Atlas’s voice was cold and left no room for argument.
In that instant, Atlas’s psychic force hit her so hard that Angelina almost passed out.
By the time she came to, Atlas was already walking away.
Angelina’s nails dug into her palm in silent anger.
Xanthe slipped past the shadows behind the trees, letting out a mocking laugh.
She thought, ‘This side character is just as dumb as the novel made her out to be-always wishy-washy, never able to make up her mind. In the end, she’s destined to be nothing but cannon fodder.
‘Just because she’s a mermaid, she thinks she can seduce all the men?’
“Layla, did you hear? Prince Krish just married another wife. It’s his fourth! And Prince Atlas doesn’t even have a wife to his name,” Annie gossiped nonstop while they ate.
Layla paused. “Whatever the royals do has nothing to do with us.”
“Oh, I’m just chatting! It’s not like I’m badmouthing anyone. But seriously, everyone online says Prince Atlas is probably going to end up single forever because he’s just way too intimidating,” Annie said.

Layla blinked, puzzled. “Why do they say that? Don’t people really like him?”
Annie said, “Respect and love are one thing, but that doesn’t mean folks aren’t scared of him. Prince Atlas is crazy strong.
“I heard when he’s piloting his exclusive mech suit, Ares, he could blow up a whole planet like it’s nothing! Oh, and Layla, November works with Prince Atlas, right? Has he ever said Atlas is scary?”
