Chapter 140 Knows How To Spoil His Girl

Chapter 140 Knows How To Spoil His Girl

Shayla led the students in saluting Atlas, and Layla happened to be standing right next to her, making her stand out.

Layla pressed her lips together, wondering if Atlas had overheard what Chaim had just said.

After all, super shifters had better hearing.

Just then, Atlas, wearing his usual cold expression, suddenly stopped in front of the group, raising an eyebrow slightly.

Roger spotted Layla in the crowd and hurried to explain to Atlas, “Your Highness, these are S Tier mech students from Imperial Academy. They’re here to check out the mech hangar and learn a few things.”

Atlas asked, his voice cool and distant, “Finished your tour?”

Shayla quickly answered, “Yes, Your Highness. We’ve already seen the basement level and all three floors above ground.”

The three floors above ground were the mech parts storage, B Tier mechs, and A Tier mechs, while the basement level was where the S Tier mechs were kept.

These were all standard, widely used mechs.

The real heavy hitters, the ones with self-awareness and serious firepower, were the mechs above S Tier, and those were all on display in the second basement level.

As for the third basement level, only the legendary mechs of Alpha Prime were stored there.

That was where Ares had been slumbering for years.

Shayla and her students weren’t allowed anywhere near that place.

Atlas’s gaze swept over the ten students and then landed on Shayla. “Pick your top student. I’ll let you and that student check out the second and third basement levels.”

“Seriously?” Shayla couldn’t hide her excitement.

She’d only ever had clearance for the second basement level before, but now Atlas was saying she could bring her best student all the way down to the legendary third basement level.

As a mech engineer, she couldn’t say no to an offer like that.

She turned around and immediately waved Layla over. “Layla, come with me for the tour. The rest of you can head back to school or home.”

Roger’s eyes went wide as he shot a quick, subtle glance at Atlas.

He thought, ‘Prince Atlas is really leveling up fast!

‘He’s already figured out how to give his girl some special treatment without anyone noticing?’

Atlas lifted his chin, strode a few steps ahead, then stopped and glanced back at them with an impatient edge in his voice. Well? Are you coming or not?”

Only Atlas had the authority to unlock access to the third basement level.

Shayla nodded eagerly and waved for Layla to come along.

Layla watched Atlas’s tall, imposing figure leading the way, her feelings all mixed up and her expression complicated.

She couldn’t help but feel a bit puzzled, too.

Layla couldn’t help but ask herself, ‘Why is Atlas doing this?’

The other students were totally jealous of Layla, but there was nothing they could do. They just couldn’t measure up to her.

Chaim was just as envious. “If Layla wasn’t here, Shayla would’ve picked me for the tour, no doubt!”

Jayvon, leaning on his crutch, laughed. “With Layla here or not, you still wouldn’t have the chance!”

“That’s why you’re always breaking your leg-can’t keep your mouth shut.” Chaim shot him a glare and turned to leave.

Jayvon glanced in the direction Layla had gone, his expression a bit distant. He hopped on an aero-vehicle with a few classmates and headed back to school. As soon as they arrived, he spotted Bruce.

“Jayvon, you still haven’t given me an answer about what I asked you last time,” Bruce said.

Jayvon tightened his grip on his crutch, hesitated for a few seconds, and then finally said, “Come to my dorm. We’ll talk

there.”

“Okay,” Bruce replied.

Their figures slowly faded into the distance.

Chapter 140 Knows How To Spoil His Girl

At the Alpha Prime military base, inside the mech hangar.

The layout of the second basement level was totally different from the first. It was way more open and spacious.

There weren’t many mechs down here, but each one was unique.

They stood there like giants, silent and imposing, towering over the puny humans below.

Layla suddenly recalled what Weston once told her: humans pushed all this research to make themselves stronger, all for their own gain.

But if they went too far, it might backfire.

Like people always said, too much of a good thing was just as bad as not enough.

Humans had always been the most insecure species out there.

“Hey, pretty lady,” a lively voice suddenly called out to Layla.

In the wide-open mech hangar, it felt super out of place.

Shayla whipped her head around, scanning the room, until her gaze finally landed on a green mech suit not too far away.

The mech suit was massive.

She explained to Layla, “This is a lightweight mech called the Scythe Envoy. It’s an SS Tier mech suit, super aggressive. I’ve only been down here once before, and last time I saw it, it was still dormant in its mech suit key.”

Layla tilted her head back, gazing up at the towering green mech suit.

‘It’s got some serious firepower, but with a look that’s just way too weird, probably nobody’s wanted to pilot it yet, Layla thought.

“Hey, pretty lady, you keep staring at me. Are you falling for me or what?” the mech suit teased.
