Chapter 146 Set Sights On My Daughter-In-Law?

Chapter 146 Set Sights On My Daughter-In-Law?

Krish had always suspected that his father was starting to be nicer to Atlas.

This time, coming to rat out was actually just a test.

But he didn’t expect this.

His heart sank.

His father really was favoring Atlas more and more.

He thought, ‘I got beaten up, and my dad just waved it away like it was no big deal!’

Meanwhile, after Atlas finished his formalities, he headed to the back garden and spotted his mother, Leilani, chilling with her afternoon tea casually.

Leilani waved the servants away and then lazily said, “Atlas, you’re too lame.”

Atlas’s mouth twitched. ‘Seriously, who talks to their own son like that?’ he thought.

He sat down, took off his military cap, and set it on the table. Pressing his lips together, he said, “Announcing it now wouldn’t do Layla any favors.”

“But now, even Prince Krish is eyeing Layla,” Leilani said, propping her chin on one hand. Her eyes narrowed, a dangerous glint flashing in them. “How dare he set his sights on my daughter-in-law!”

Atlas let out a cold laugh. “He’s only interested because of Tomas. Tomas is his cousin, and he’s got serious talent. The Coffey family is fiercely loyal to him, so he’d never let that go.”

Leilani froze for a second, looking startled. “So Layla’s still in danger?”

“Yeah. That’s why I’ve decided… to switch to November,” Atlas replied.

Leilani said, “Sounds good to me. Just finish up your military stuff and go spend time with Layla. Don’t overdo it at work. “Your father’s obviously going to hand Alpha Prime over to Prince Krish anyway, so what’s the point of working yourself to the bone?”

Atlas let out a helpless sigh. “I’ve recently realized something important. The rebels might actually have two separate factions, and one of them seems to be connected to Prince Krish.

“Plus, the attack on the mech hangar might also be related to him.”

“Why would Prince Krish be involved with the rebels?” Leilani asked.

“I have no idea,” Atlas replied.

Atlas and Leilani exchanged glances, both thinking, ‘There’s really something off about Prince Krish.

‘The throne is basically his, but he just keeps making a mess of things.’

Leilani snorted. “Prince Krish never knows how to sit still. Once he gets that crown, he’ll probably run Alpha Prime into the ground.”

“That’s not our business anyway. Mom, when things get messy, I’ll get you out of here,” Atlas said.

Leilani froze for a moment and then just shook her head. “Let’s talk about it when the time comes.”

Atlas knew his mom was worried about a lot of things, so he let it go.

They chatted for a bit longer before finally leaving the palace.

Atlas thought to himself, ‘I need to deal with those mech hangar intruders quickly.

‘Then I can become November and hurry back to Layla…

Meanwhile, not long after Layla got back to campus, the first person she saw was Bruce, looking really worried.

“Layla, I heard you guys got attacked at the mech hangar, and Ms. Mcgrath even got hurt. Are you okay? Why are you back so late?” Bruce asked.

“Oh, I’m fine. The military had to deal with the attackers and go through a bunch of red tape, so that’s why I got back late,” Layla replied.

What Krish did was quietly covered up.

After all, it was a royal scandal.

Successfully unlocked!

Layla wasn’t about to make it public, but that dilimon she was going to let it go.

Krish had crossed the line, and sooner or later, she was going to settle the score with him.

Bruce grumbled, “Those guys are always causing drama and making up dumb rules. Oh, by the way, Layla, wanna go hang out at Shadow Alley?”

“Are you looking to buy something?” Layla asked.

“Nah, I just want you to meet our youngest uncle. He’s been hanging out in Shadow Alley these days,” Bruce said

Layla thought for a moment and figured, ‘Why not? It’s a good chance to check out Shadow Alley and maybe score some rare mech parts.’

She was also planning to craft a weapon that would be perfect for Bruce.

Besides, even though she couldn’t see her dad right now, it’d still be nice to spend some time with other family members.

Once they made up their minds to hit up Shadow Alley, Layla realized Bruce had roped Jayvon into coming along, too.

Layla looked puzzled. “Since when did you two get so close?”

Jayvon looked a bit helpless. “Why do you always seem to have it out for me?”

“Maybe it’s just a bad first impression,” Layla replied.

Jayvon didn’t know what to say.

Bruce interrupted, “Jayvon knows my uncle, so it works out for us to go together. Oh, Layla. Uncle and I are really tight. After he knew you were here, he would’ve come straight to campus to see us if it wasn’t such a hassle.”

Layla nodded.

Honestly, Layla couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something a little odd about her dad and his group of brothers.

‘Who has that many unrelated brothers, anyway?’ Layla thought to herself.

But one thing Layla knew for sure was that her dad and his brothers definitely didn’t have any ill intentions toward her.

Not only were they harmless, but they actually seemed full of guilt, especially eager to make it up to her.

Another hundred million starcoins had landed in Layla’s account. She also had what Atlas sent her before.

Layla couldn’t help but worry she might have enough cash to land herself in the top ten richest people on Alpha Prime.

As the three of them arrived at the entrance of Shadow Alley in their aero-vehicle, Layla suddenly got a message from

November.

November: [Layla, I’m waiting for you in your dorm. Where did you run off to?]

Layla was taken aback. ‘Is Prince Atlas already in his rut again?

‘That doesn’t make sense. Didn’t it just end not long ago?’

She hesitated and didn’t reply right away. Then she got a message from Andrew.

Andrew: [Layla, Prince Atlas’s psychic force has been pretty unstable lately. First, he got into a fight at the mech hangar, then he punched Prince Krish, and just now, he got into a heated argument with the King.]

Andrew: [To keep his psychic force from going haywire, his body’s automatic defense kicked in, and he reverted to his child form.]

Andrew: [Bet you’re familiar with this. It’s a lot like when he’s in a rut.]

Layla: [Is this going to mess with his military duties?]

Andrew: [Roger and I will cover for him in the military for now. Prince Atlas is probably looking for you. Just stick with him for a while and keep him out of trouble. It’d be best if nobody else found out about his situation.]

Layla read Andrew’s messages and felt at a loss about what to do next.

Just then, November, still waiting in her dorm, sent her another message-this time with a crying emoji. November: [Star, where did you go? Are you secretly meeting some puppy boy and ditching me?]

Layla: [I’m at Shadow Alley right now.]

November: [I’m coming to find you!]

Layla set her optical computer aside, feeling a pang of longing for November herself.

Layla knew it was all because of her that Atlas lost his cool with Krish, got scolded by the King, and ended up with his psychic force spiraling out of control.

Let November come find her if he wanted. Layla wasn’t going to stop him.

She just hoped it wouldn’t get in the way of Atlas’s official duties in the military.

Bruce saw her frown one second and smirk the next, so he hurried over and asked, “Hey, Layla, is someone looking for you?”

“Yep, your cousin-in-law’s coming to see me,” Layla said with a little grin.

Bruce narrowed his eyes dangerously, flexing his wrists until they popped.

“I wanna throw down with him, just to see what he’s made of. Uncle Daniel, my dad, and all the other uncles put me up to it,” Bruce said.

Layla froze for a second, staring in disbelief.

‘You want to fight Prince Atlas?’ Layla thought, still stunned.
