Sorry I'm Mated To The Commander novel Chapter 170

Chapter 170

Chapter 170

Ever since that day in the hospital, when Nolan finally figured out why he was so hung up on Layla, he’d been a mess inside.

Nolan was sure of one thing. He really cared about Layla.

Even if Layla wasn’t his sister anymore, Nolan still wanted to look out for her in every way. Just hearing she had a partner made his heart ache.

But after talking with Xanthe, Nolan finally admitted to himself how he felt about Layla. Yeah, he was into Layla.

Of course, Nolan never breathed a word to anyone, not even Xanthe, Whenever Nolan asked, he always brushed it off.

Thankfully, Xanthe dropped the subject after that and just stayed stuck in guilt mode, always saying sorry for what she’d done before.

Things were looking up for the Sullivan family. With Krish restoring Karter to favor, even his usually stern face now had a hint of a smile.

Xanthe was as sweet and well-mannered as ever, and more importantly, she was outstanding. Now the young nobles couldn’t stop praising her.

The James family, who’d once tried to marry into the Sullivan family, went back on their word again, but this time, the whole Sullivan family, including Xanthe, stood together and turned them down flat.

Honestly, Nolan was really enjoying how things were going in the Sullivan family these days. The only thing that made him feel a little bitter was his psychic force, so badly damaged that he might never serve in the Military Command again.

And then there was Layla.

If Layla hadn’t ended up with someone else and had chosen Nolan instead, his life would’ve been perfect.

But Nolan wasn’t about to spill his heart to Layla just yet. For now, he just wanted to quietly see for himself how things were going between her and her partner.

Nolan remembered the last time they came to visit him; her partner was practically glued to her side the whole time.

Nolan felt a pang in his chest, but at the same time, he was kind of relieved. ‘Looks like that guy really does care about her, he thought.

If they were happy together, Nolan was willing to keep his feelings to himself and just silently wish her all the best.

Nolan’s feelings were all over the place, but he never let anyone see it.

“No, I’m good. I’m just going for a walk,” Nolan replied.

Nolan still remembered how Layla and Xanthe had a bit of bad blood between them before, so for now, he wasn’t planning to let them cross paths.

Of course, in Nolan’s mind, if Layla and Xanthe could someday be close like real sisters, that would be just perfect.

Watching Nolan head out, Xanthe chewed on her lip. “System, do you think he’s going to see Layla? Layla should be back on Alpha Prime by now, right?”

[Probably,] the system replied.

Xanthe let out a cold laugh. “I’ve tried so hard for so long, but I still can’t get through to Nolan. Whatever, I never really expected much from him anyway. System, have you managed to hack into Zee’s program yet?”

Chapter 170

In this world, there were plenty of advanced Als, but the top dog was Zee, Atlas’s personal AL

The system paused for a few seconds. [Not yet. Its firewall is seriously tough. Breaking in isn’t going to be easy.]

Xanthe was visibly irritated, her brows furrowing in annoyance. ‘What’s the point of you then?’ she thought.

Meanwhile, Nolan made sure to get to the spaceport ahead of time.

The spaceport on Alpha Prime was the busiest and most vibrant in the whole universe, packed with people and ships coming and going nonstop.

Every day, hundreds of shuttles and warships docked here, but civilians and the military each had their own docking areas.

Nolan was still on the mend, his psychic force nowhere near back to normal, and he looked pretty pale and not his usual self. Everyone he passed, stellar rangers and officers alike, gave him a nod or called out a greeting.

Victor and his squad were just gearing up for a mission. When Victor caught sight of Nolan, his face was hard to read, a jumble of complicated emotions.

Technically, Victor was one of Krish’s guys. When Krish dropped Nolan, Victor was all set to swallow up Nolan’s Sector Three Command into his own Fifth Legion.

But then, Atlas stepped in and threw a wrench in Victor’s plans.

After that, Xanthe, Nolan’s sister, became a rising star. Krish not only let Xanthe join the Crown Squad at Imperial Academy, but also put Karter back in favor.

So now, Nolan was back on their side again.

Victor was a slick operator. He quickly hid the complicated look in his eyes and put on a friendly smile. “Commander Sullivan, didn’t you just get out of the hospital?

“Shouldn’t you be taking it easy at home? If you need anything, just say the word.”

“I’m here to pick someone up,” Nolan replied.

“Who?” Victor asked.

Nolan was generally even-tempered, but he’d heard from others about Victor’s attempt to take over his Sector Three Command.

Karter had told Nolan that Victor was one of Krish’s men, and since Sector/Three Command hadn’t actually been merged into the Fifth Legion, Nolan should just let it go.

Just because Nolan didn’t hold a grudge didn’t mean he was about to give Victor, that snake, a friendly face.

Nolan replied coolly, “I might not be back in the Military Command yet, but you’re not my superior either. I don’t have to report every little thing to you, do I?”

Victor was momentarily at a loss for words.

Just then, a starship pulled in and docked smoothly, the gust of wind from its landing breaking up their conversation.

Soon enough, a group stepped out, and Victor didn’t look too happy about it. These were Roger’s squad from the First Legion, all under Atlas. And Roger was right there with them.

Back in school, Victor had never managed to get one over on Roger, and now that Roger was Atlas’s trusted aide, Victor couldn’t do a thing about it.

Chapter 170

But Nolan hurried över, striding straight to a young woman in casual wear. He smiled and said. “Layla, you’re back”

Victor’s heart skipped a beat. Damn, isn’t that Layla he thought.

Layla walked up to Nolan. ‘Nolan, let me introduce you. This is Dr. Olivia Gill. Olivia, this is my big brother, Nolan

Nolan gave Olivia a gentle nod. He was really hoping his psychic force would recover, so even though Olivia looked in young, he still greeted her politely.

Olivia flashed Nolan a sweet smile. “Hello, Commander Sullivan.”

Since this wasn’t the right place to talk about the treatment, Layla turned to Roger. “Colonel Lewis, mind if I borrow an aero- vehicle?”

Roger answered without missing a beat, I’ve got time. Andrew already sent me the address, so I can drop you off and then head to the Military Command.”

“Oh, sure, that works. Really appreciate it,” Layla said.

Figures November put Colonel Lewis up to this,’ Layla thought, so she didn’t bother insisting.

The group didn’t even spare Victor a glance as they headed straight for the aero-vehicle, leaving Victor standing there, mouth hanging open in shock.

Victor glanced around quickly, then immediately fired off a message to Krish.

Victor: [Your Highness, can you believe Nolan is getting really close to Layla? They just left together. Want me to keep an eye on them?]
