Chapter 177
Weston just left her with an awkward uhm and then hung up on her. That was pretty irresponsible.
But that just proved Layla was right, Jayvon really had joined the rebels.
But after checking out the mentorship request thread on the forum, Layla finally gave Jayvon a definite answer.
Layla also had Zaa set up an alternate optical computer account, so she could reach out to Jayvon without revealing her real identity.
Jayvon was so excited that he was practically babbling. As soon as they added each other as friends, he called her up with a video call right away.
Layla turned him down instantly.
Jayvon apologized immediately: [Hades, I’m sorry. I won’t bother you with random video calls anymore.]
Hades: [I’ll send over a basic skills program later so we can see where you’re at right now.]
Hades: [Don’t contact me unless it’s urgent.]
Jayvon: [Yes, Hades, got it! I’ll keep that in mind!]
Watching Jayvon, who used to be all swagger and always scheming, now acting so well-behaved, Layla thought it was actually pretty amusing.
Feeling way better now and with the groceries she’d ordered online finally showing up, Layla helped Rosa cook up a feast.
Once dinner was done, Layla went to wake Olivia up.
Olivia was still feeling a bit down. Evelyn was still out by the Abyss, after all.
Layla shared November’s recent message with Olivia. “Andrew and the others are coming back to Alpha Prime, and they’re bringing Evelyn with them.”
Olivia blinked in surprise. “How did they manage to get Grandma back?”
Layla replied, “They knocked Evelyn out.”
Olivia’s fork clattered onto the table.
Layla picked it up for Olivia and explained patiently, “The Holy Gate is way too dangerous. Anyone who comes out of there gets possessed and loses their mind.
“Atlas said that John, for reasons no one can figure out, ignored all the warnings and led over a hundred people into the Holy
Gate.
“Half an hour later, only about fifty came out, all possessed, and they started attacking everyone in sight.”
In short, that place was way too dangerous.
Atlas would never leave Evelyn behind.
But Evelyn was just way too stubborn. Andrew was sweating bullets trying to talk Evelyn into leaving, so in the end, Atlas just knocked her out with one punch, and that was how they managed to take her away.
Olivia’s heart ached for Evelyn, but she was also really thankful to Atlas; there just wasn’t any better way to get Evelyn out of

there.
Rosa, who’d been listening in, looked totally stunned. “John is not a nobody. He’s got a pretty high position. He went crazy,
too?”
“Yeah. But I don’t know what happened after that,” Layla replied.
Rosa let out a sigh. “Feels like things are really going south for Meridia.”
Layla kept quiet. Honestly, anyone could see it coming.
But whether Meridia was on the decline or not, it was out of Layla’s hands. All she could do was wait for November to come back.
Since they were bringing Evelyn along, Layla texted November, telling him to just drop her off here when he arrived.
That way, November could swing by and pick Layla up at the same time.
By the time November’s aero-vehicle parked out front, night had already fallen. But on Alpha Prime, the night sky was always ablaze with stars, and the floating roads glowed with streetlights.
November, looking like he’d just come back from a long journey, was the first to step out. Then two stellar ranger guards helped out Evelyn, who looked pale and clearly unhappy.
Andrew followed behind, with a look of utter resignation.
Atlas may have been the one who knocked Evelyn out, but Evelyn ended up venting all her anger on Andrew.
November strode over to Layla, his long legs eating up the distance. “Layla!”
Layla said, “Thanks for all your hard work. Is Evelyn alright?”
“She’s a little upset,” November said.
Evelyn just scoffed. “Heh.”
Layla couldn’t help but chuckle. Yeah, Evelyn was definitely more than just a little upset.
Even though Evelyn was still pretty ticked off, she still exchanged a few words with Layla. Layla showed her around a bit. then asked Olivia to help Evelyn settle in and get some rest.
Finally, the two of them made it back to Atlas’s place. The moment they stepped inside, November swept Layla into his
arms.
“Layla, I’m really sorry. I know you haven’t been ready for marriage, so I never pushed it.
“But who would’ve thought that idiot Krish would somehow find out and go blab to my dad, telling him to start planning our wedding!” November said.
Layla couldn’t help but laugh. Not long ago, she’d heard Weston cursing out the king, and now November was going off on Krish.
Layla didn’t really know the king, but Krish was honestly a real piece of work; he totally deserved to get dragged.
She said, “Maybe we let something slip somewhere, or maybe someone tipped him off.”
November narrowed his eyes. “Was it Angelina?”
Layla shook her head. “I’m not sure. Could’ve been someone else. But that’s not the point right now. What’s really important

She trailed off, not finishing her sentence. It was obvious she still hadn’t made up her mind.
November was so nervous that his palms were sweating. He suddenly said, “No rush, really. I’m actually starving
“I’ve been on the road nonstop and haven’t had a bite. How about we have Zee whip up something to eat, and we can talk while we cat?”
“Okay, what do you feel like eating? I can whip something up for you,” Layla said.
“No way, you must be tired. Let Zee take care of it,” November replied.
“Oh? So you think Zee’s cooking beats mine?” Layla joked.
November froze for a second and then blurted out, “Zee’s cooking is always boring and bland. Nothing beats yours. Layla! Come on, let’s go. Let me help you out in the kitchen!”
As November spoke, the two of them headed into the kitchen together.
Zee, controlling the butler robot, could only shake his head helplessly. “Men, huh.”
Layla’s mind was a mess, so she decided to distract herself by cooking. She planned to make four dishes.
It was all classic comfort food, nothing too tricky, especially with November playing sous-chef by her side. It didn’t take long before everything was ready.
November eyed the feast on the table, snapped a few pics with his comm, and thought about sending them to his mom.
But then he realized she probably hadn’t eaten yet, and it felt a little cruel to rub in all these mouthwatering dishes while she was still hungry.
So he just dropped them in the adjutants’ group chat instead.
November: [My wife made this.]
Everyone in the group was in on the secret. They all knew their boss was spending his days playing rut games with his wife. so they were totally on board and played along.
Nicholas and Andrew were both in the chat, and they chimed in with some polite praise.
Honestly, they weren’t just saying nice things to be polite. They really meant it.
After all, these guys were all single, and every time they came back from a mission, all they had waiting for them was a dinner whipped up by a housekeeping bot.
Having someone who actually cooks you a hot, homemade meal? That was the kind of thing that makes you jealous for real But Roger, stuck pulling overtime at the Military Command, saw those pics and just about lost it!
‘Here I am, grinding away at work with zero time for my girlfriend, and my boss is already home, flaunting his wife and rubbing it in. Man, that’s just not right!’ Roger thought, fuming.
Of course, Roger couldn’t say a word. He just had to go along and toss out some take compliments like everyone ele
Roger: [Man, Your Highness, you’re living the dream!]
‘Ugh, I’m suffering over here!’ Roger wondered.
