Sorry I'm Mated To The Commander novel Chapter 185

Chapter 185

Chapter 185

After saying goodbye to Leilani and leaving the palace, Layla settled into the aero-vehicle.

Mollie had offered to escort her, but Layla turned her down.

“Ms. Clark, you should go back and protect Her Majesty. Prince Atlas just messaged me. He wants me to pick him up at the Military Command,” Layla said.

She thought to herself, ‘The palace isn’t far from the Military Command anyway.

And now that Layla’s identity is out in the open, no one in their right mind would dare mess with her, at least not on the surface,’ she mused.

‘Unless someone actually dared not fear Prince Atlas.

‘But let’s be real, nobody like that existed. After all, even Krish was wary of Prince Atlas.

Meanwhile, Krish, who’d never admit he was scared of his own little brother, was at the Military Command, speaking to Atlas in a gentle voice.

“Atlas, you’re getting married soon, you should take it easy. As for the Holy Gate, don’t worry about it. I’ve already sent my most trusted people to thoroughly interrogate and investigate those infected folks you brought back.”

Atlas, dressed in a sharp military uniform, his black boots clicking against the tiles, asked, “It’s been over a day now, Krish. Have your people found anything yet?”

Krish kept his tone soft. “We’ve got a bit of progress so far, but we still need to keep questioning them. I’ve also asked the medical center to send in some experts to check just how badly they’ve been infected.”

Atlas said with a lazy drawl, “Prince Krish, you really don’t have to go into all the details with me. After all, Father put you in charge of this.”

Krish’s smile faltered for a moment.

‘I bet he’s cursing me out in his head right now,’ Atlas thought. ‘I even roughed him up last time, but he still manages to play the role of the perfect brother.

Just watching him act like that is exhausting.’

Atlas suddenly asked, “Prince Krish, are you tired?”

Krish’s smile faltered even more as he forced a laugh. “Not at all. It’s just some investigation work. Compared to you, Atlas, always out there leading the fleet on missions, I’ve got it easy.”

Atlas nodded. “Yeah, I feel pretty beat too.”

Krish was left speechless.

‘Man, how am I supposed to keep this chat going? Does anyone actually make small talk like this? he thought

Honestly, Atlas couldn’t stand looking at Krish’s phony face. What really bugged him was how Krish was involved with those vicious rebels, and now he was tangled up with the Holy Gate, too.

‘What’s Krish really up to?

‘Is he planning to blow up the whole universe or something?

Chapter 185

‘Why not just chill and wait to be crowned King of Alpha Prime? What’s so bad about that?’ Atlas wondered.

Just then, Zee’s voice came through Atlas’s earpiece, all excited. “Mr. Zimmer, Mrs. Zimmer’s aero-vehicle just arrived at the Military Command entrance.”

Atlas’s eyes lit up instantly, and his snow-white fox ears under the cap were practically twitching to pop out.

Without saying a word, he ditched Krish and headed straight outside.

Krish was still racking his brain, trying to come up with some excuse to fob Atlas off, but the next second, Atlas had vanished without a trace.

His face fell, and he asked the main system in a low voice, “Doo, track where Prince Atlas went.”

Doo was the AI that ran Alpha Prime, overseeing everything from daily operations to all the surveillance across the planet.

It replied in a calm voice, “Prince Atlas’s wife came to pick him up. They left together.”

Krish was left speechless.

Meanwhile, Atlas strode out of the Military Command and got into the aero-vehicle waiting at the entrance.

Once inside, his fox ears poked out from under his cap, and he looked a bit aggrieved. “Layla, why didn’t you come in and look for me?”

Layla replied, “I didn’t think it’d be right to just walk into the Military Command to find you. Besides, I don’t even have clearance to get in. And anyway, aren’t you off duty now?”

Atlas said, “Nothing wrong with that. Zee, give Zaa all my clearance at the base.”

Zee replied right away, “Yes, Atlas.”

Layla’s heart skipped a beat, and she jumped in to stop him. “No, don’t. It’s not like I ever come here by myself. If I’m here, it’s either with you or just to find you.”

Atlas couldn’t help but grin when he realized Layla was thinking only of him. His whole mood instantly lifted.

Behind him, his fluffy tail lazily swished back and forth, betraying his delight

Still, he went ahead and granted Layla clearance to enter the Military Command.

‘If my own wife can’t even walk into the Military Command, then what’s the point of being the commander here?’ Atlas thought to himself.

Layla couldn’t stop him and just let out a helpless sigh. “Ninth, we’re about to get married. I know you’re all in and probably dying to tie the knot with me, but does Atlas feel the same way, too?”

His fox tail, which had been happily swishing back and forth, suddenly froze.

‘If there’s ever a time to say I shot myself in the foot, it’s now pretending to be in rut mode has totally backfired on me,’ Atlas thought, feeling awkward as hell.

Atlas caught the serious look in Layla’s eyes and started weighing his options. If he told her the truth right now, would she blow up at him?

After a few seconds of mental math, he came to a conclusion.

‘Yeah, chances are she’s gonna be pretty mad, Atlas thought, feeling a little anxious.

Chapter 185

He softened his voice. “Layla, really, you don’t have to worry. No matter what state I was in when you chose me, I was always willing.

“Honestly, I’ve never been good at expressing myself. I like you so much, but I just get embarrassed and can’t say it out loud. I’m just clueless when it comes to this kind of thing.”

Zee let out a deep sigh.

‘Poor guy, he’s actually selling himself short now. It’s really not easy being him, Zee thought.

Layla couldn’t help but think back to how Atlas always seemed so cold and distant on the surface. Honestly, ever since their accidental marriage, every conversation had been awkward and tense, never really pleasant.

There was even that one time he pressured her into taking that kind of infertility drug.

But seeing the nervous look in Atlas’s eyes now, she knew that whenever he came to his senses, he was always aware of everything that had happened.

And lately, that cold, distant side of Atlas didn’t last as long anymore.

She hadn’t seen that cold, distant side of Atlas in ages, and without even realizing it, she’d already accepted the idea of marrying him and having a wedding.

Layla stopped denying how she really felt. She truly had fallen for Atlas.

But now, a whole new headache was staring Layla right in the face.

Her father and the rest of her family were on their way, and they’d made it clear they planned to whisk her away before she could marry Atlas.

Layla looked at Ninth, her voice tentative. “If you say so, I feel a lot better. But Ninth, what if I suddenly disappear before our wedding? What would you do then?”

“No way.” Atlas cut her off, his voice firm and decisive., “That’s not even a thing. Unless the whole universe explodes, that’s never happening.”

Layla looked down, her eyes heavy with hesitation.

‘Fine, I guess I really can’t say it out loud,’ Layla thought.

Atlas leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to the corner of her mouth. “Layla just look forward to our big day and get ready to be my stunning bride.”

“B-But,” Harper stammered.

“No buts,” Atlas interrupted gently. “And from now on, when we’re out in public, I’m Atlas. Let’s keep the name November just between us. When I’m at the base or around Prince Krish, I’ll still put on my usual act. Can you understand that, Layla?”

Layla nodded. “Of course, you’re Prince Atlas.”

Atlas took her hand and kissed her fingertips. “But when it’s just us, you can still call me Ninth, or anything you want. Whatever makes you happy.”
