Chapter 56

Imperial Academy’s on lockdown and a bunch of places are locked down too.” Weston and

Annie checked, and sure enough, the school had sent out a message. Because the rebels had shown up in Prime Cary, the campes was temporarily closed to keep students safe.

After checking in with her family to let them know she was safe Antie decided not to hang around and borter Layla anymore. She headed back to her dorm grinning with her upgraded oprical computer in tow

But before she left, the made sure to swipe all the stacks from Layla’s place

With the campus on lockdown even packages couldn’t get throug

Once Annie was gone. Layla sighed Wenon, you just made up an excuse to get Antie out of here, duda 1 pour

What else do you think? You finally made a friend and you think I’d scare ber of 1 fout waned to greber a little something Weston said with a grin

“What gift? Layla asked.

“Eh she’ll find out sooner or later! Weston replied

Layla rolled her eyes. “Still playing coy? By the way, with the campus locked down, are you even going to be able to surat

OUT?

Please. I’ve got my own ways. Anyway, Layla wasn’t there something you wanted to ask me earlier?” Weston said.

Layla had been worried sick that Weston might pull some prank on Annie’s optical competent be was aboys scheming something like a mischievous old for

But when Weston brought it up. Layla snapped back to what she wanted to ask

Atlas and that advanced Al of his. Zeel she wondered

“Weston, do you know Atlas? Layla blurted out

Weston glanced around, making sure the dorm was totally safe and there weren’t any listening devices hidden anywhere

Then he turned back with a grin. “His Highness Atlas? The youngest and most brilliant commander on Alpha Prime? Who doesn’t know him?”

“Weston, I’m not joking, Atlas’s advanced Al is called Zee, and its personality screams. You made it. And the one you gave me is Zaa. Don’t tell me there’s no connection Layla pressed.

Seeing how serious Layla was, Weston knew she was way too sharp to fool

He walked back and sat down on the couch, his tone turning serious Alright, I know you’re the smartest, Layla Yeah I gave Zee to Atlas.

“Weston, were you involved in the repair and upgrade of Ares back then? Layla asked.

“Yeah, Weston replied.

Now that Weston had admitted it, just like Layla had expected, she pressed her lips together.

“These are your personal affairs. Who you help or give things to is none of my business. I just don’t get why I can’t change Zaa’s name,’ she said.

If there was some kind of deal between Weston and Atlas back then, Layla didn’t want to pry. That was Weston’s call.

Chapter 56

She just felt a little Trustrated.

Seriously? My Al and Atlas’s Al are basically couple names, and I can’t even change it, Layla thought, feeling a little exasperated.

“That’s exactly why I’m here, Layla. So tell me, why did you leave the Sullivan family?

“Don’t try to pull a fast one on me. I know Xanthe’s got her tricks, but if she really wanted to kick you out, she couldn’t have done it,” Weston said, giving Layla a knowing look.

Layla sank onto the couch, eyes downcast. “Weston, that place never felt like home to me.

“Still, I’m grateful the Sullivan family took me in all these years. Honestly, except for Xanthe, I don’t have any issues with the rest of them.”

“You’re smart, so you get it. All these years, the Sullivan family only saw you as a replacement for Xanthe. You grew up in an orphanage, just wanting a little warmth from a family.

“But now that Xanthe’s back, even that little bit of warmth for a stand-in is gone,” Weston said.

Karter cared too much about his reputation. If Layla hadn’t left on her own, he never would’ve kicked her out.

But if she’d stayed, every day in the Sullivan family, she wouldn’t be happy.

Leaving was the best choice.

“Let the past stay in the past. You’ve got a new home now, so just focus on starting fresh,” Weston said, his voice gentle.

Layla’s head shot up. “Weston? Did you have Zaa remove the privacy shield on my personal details?”

Atlas didn’t want anyone to know about their marriage, and Layla wanted it even more. She was always thinking about getting a divorce, and keeping things quiet meant way less drama for her in the future.

So she’d asked Atlas to use his authority to hide both of their profiles.

Basically, people just knew Layla was married, but nobody had a clue who her husband actually was. Her classmates only knew it was that masked guy, November, who always seemed to pop up out of nowhere.

And that was it,

As for Atlas, his privacy was locked down even tighter. Not even the king himself knew his son was married.

But now, Layla suddenly realized, Weston knew she was married.
