Chapter 90
Chapter 90
Everything had happened so fast that no one had time to react.

With the crowd panicking and trampling in confusion, things were a mess. But now that someone had pointed them in the right direction, everyone suddenly had a clear goal.
Among the passengers were Alpha Prime’s stellar rangers and students heading home for break. With so many more passengers than rebels, the chances of beating the rebels were looking better than ever.
Annie watched the monitors as the passengers banded together and managed to take down two of the rebels. She said excitedly, “Layla, look! The rebels are about to get wiped out!”
“Please, these guys are just small fry. The real big shots are still outside,” Layla replied.
Just as Layla finished speaking, the ship was suddenly rocked by a violent impact.
Outside, the rebels had already begun their assault on the ship!
Just then, the folks outside finished off the last of the rebels. A few of them burst into the control room, and Annie instantly went on guard, clutching her dagger and shooting them a wary look. “What are you guys doing here?”
The guy in front introduced himself, “I’m Evan Rivers, second year in the Command Division at Imperial Academy’s College of Military. You’re Layla from First-year, Mech Engineering Division, Class S, right?”
“That’s me,” Layla answered. She squinted at Eric, thinking, ‘He looks kind of familiar. Oh, he’s an upperclassman.
Eric let out a sigh of relief when he saw Layla and Annie. “We’ve taken out the rebels who boarded, but now they’re attacking the ship from outside.
“The armor is just civilian grade; it’ll only hold for about twenty minutes. Is there any way we can get this ship moving yet?”
Layla kept working on the flight controls as she spoke to Eric.
She said, “Someone sabotaged the navigation program. I need about fifteen minutes to fix it. Eric, I suspect there’s a rebel mole hiding on this ship. Can you take some people and track them down?”
Eric was taken aback. “You mean the mole is still somewhere on the ship?”
“Exactly. Someone sabotaged the navigation program and opened the hatch. As soon as it opened, the rebels started attacking everyone without mercy. No way the mole would risk going down there in that chaos,” Layla said.
“Got it. By the way, can you handle this on your own? Do you need any help?” Eric asked. Then he turned to the people around him. “Anyone here a mech engineer?”
One guy looked a bit uncomfortable. “I’m a mech engineer, but I’ve never worked on civilian-grade ship control systems before.”
Everyone fell silent, watching Layla repair the console with practiced ease. They all thought, “This mech engineer is really in a league of her own.
Without Layla having to say a word, Eric could tell there was nothing they could do to help with the repairs. He turned to
leave.
Layla called out to him, “I tried calling Alpha Prime’s security center earlier, but I couldn’t get through. Did any of you have any luck?”
Eric’s face darkened. “We all tried, but no luck. I’m pretty sure someone nearby is jamming the signal.”

Chapter 90
Their goal was crystal clear; they wanted to slaughter everyone on this ship.
Annie fumed, “What the hell are these rebels after, anyway?”

“No idea what they’re after. Right now, we just have to do whatever it takes to save ourselves and not let them slaughter us,” Layla said.
Eric nodded. “Alright, Layla, you’ve got things covered here. I’ll take a team and sweep the ship.”
“Alright,” Layla replied.
Even as Layla kept working on the console, her mind was busy working out a way to send a signal out.
Layla called out, “Zaa, any chance you can reach Zee?”
Zaa and Zee were both creations of Layla’s mentor, Weston. His work always had some special tricks up its sleeve.
Normally, Layla wouldn’t have thought of asking Atlas for help, but with hundreds of innocent lives on the line, she couldn’t just stand by and do nothing.
Zaa immediately replied, “On it, Layla! I’ll give it a shot!”
Meanwhile, Atlas was off in another galaxy, having just finished a brawl with a bunch of void raiders. He’d nabbed one who tried to mess with the power supply, and it turned out that the guy was actually a gecko shifter.
This void raider’s mech suit could regrow its arms and legs, but Atlas saw through the trick and smashed it with a single punch, leaving the whole thing a pile of scrap.
With all its limbs ripped off, the void raider was left in the middle of the wreckage, whimpering and pleading, “Your Highness, I surrender! Please, just stop hitting me, okay?”
Atlas gave the sniveling wimp a bored look, then waved for his men to drag the guy away.
As Atlas was heading back, he suddenly heard Zee’s voice, shrill and shaky. “Mr. Zimmer, bad news! Mrs. Zimmer—”
Atlas frowned slightly, his tone still cool and detached. “What is it? Did she send another divorce request?”
“N-No, that’s not it!” Zee stammered.
“Is she trying to give back the stuff I gave her?” Atlas asked.
“No, no, Mr. Zimmer! Mrs. Zimmer ran into rebels raiding the ship!” Zee blurted out.
“What?” Atlas snapped.
He barked at Zee, “Get Zaa on the line now!”
But no matter what Zee tried, the signal was jammed tight.
Zee hurried to explain, “Looks like there’s a signal jammer blocking their calls for help.
“The only reason I can pick up Zaa’s messages is that we’re both built by Weston. We can only send messages, not talk directly. Mr. Zimmer, I’ve got the coordinates Zaa sent!”
“Keep messaging Zaa and have it keep sending us updates on the situation over there,” Atlas ordered.
“Yes, Mr. Zimmer!” Zee replied.
With the signal flickering on and off, Zee and Zaa couldn’t get their messages through right away.

Still, as long as sonfething got through, that was good enough!

Atlas immediately summoned Roger and his squad, and without hesitation, they advanced toward the coordinates Layla had transmitted.
With Atlas personally at the helm, his forces operated with flawless discipline and efficiency. Within moments, they regrouped and launched their mission.
Meanwhile, a few void raiders who’d managed to slip through the net were hiding in some obscure corner, totally baffled.
‘Wait, the terrifying Prince Atlas just up and left? Isn’t he coming back to finish us off?’ one of the void raiders thought, still in shock.
Back on Layla’s side, Zaa finally got a message from Zee.
Zaa piped up excitedly, “Layla, Zee says his boss is leading a squad straight to these coordinates! He’s asking how things are over here, and if you’re okay.”
‘No way, Atlas actually showed up?’ Layla thought, genuinely surprised.
She knew Atlas had taken his forces out to fight the void raiders. All these years, he’d watched over Alpha Prime with unwavering dedication.
‘He must’ve heard there was a ship full of innocent Alpha Prime civilians in danger, so he dropped everything to come rescue us,’ Layla realized.
“Layla, Zee says his squad should get here in about half an hour!” Zaa reported.
“Good, let them know we’re fixing up the ship and aiming to take off around 9 o’clock. We’ll be flying around the planet to dodge their attacks, but we’ll only last until about 9:20 tops!” Layla said.
With the signal cutting in and out, Layla had no clue which way Atlas and his squad were coming from. Space was just too damn big.
If they missed each other, there was a real chance they’d be stranded for good, with no hope of rescue.
As the attacks outside got more intense, the passengers clung to each other, holding on for dear life.
The timid kids burst into tears. The elderly pressed their hands together, praying desperately in their hearts.
