Surrogate for the Alpha Prince in a Coma novel Chapter 251

Chapter 251

Lillian’s POV

It was late in the day now, and Madison still refused to speak to me. Both she and Alex were holed up in their bedroom, refusing to come out even for dinner. Not wanting them to go without, I had dinner delivered to their room, but I was worried.

Madison had been so angry with me. She had never spoken to me like that before. I knew she had only said those words in anger, and that she hadn’t meant them, but they still cut me deeply.

A whisper of worry and doubt lingered in my heart. Did Madison truly prefer Odette to me?

A knock on my door roused me from my misery. I’d been sitting at the table in the living room staring at my own dinner but not eating it, feeling heartbroken. The visitor would be a welcome distraction – so long as it wasn’t Odette or Kyle. I had told Kyle we would speak later but I still needed time to calm down. I hadn’t thought at all about what I might want to say, other than more shouting.

I went to the door with some apprehension, unsure what to expect. Relief filled me as I opened it and say Grayson standing there instead.

“May I come in?” he asked.

“Of course,” I said and stepped back to allow him entrance. As he walked in, I saw him eying the table where I had been sitting alone, not eating.

“I spoke with Odette,” he said. “Or maybe I should say, she spoke to me.”

I huffed. “What did she tell you? That I’m the world’s worst mother?”

“She did, but I didn’t believe her. She had no business being in that classroom and I made that clear to her. I will speak with Kyle also, about what is appropriate.”

“Thank you,” I said, but remained on guard.

He eyed me. “How are the kids?”

He must have noticed the place setting for one, and that the kids’ bedroom door was closed. The usual sounds of play during this time were noticeably absent.

“Odette gave Madison chocolate, which I took away. I’m the villain now,” I said.

“She’s too young to understand,” Grayson said. “In time, she will see that you were in the right.”
