Surrogate for the Alpha Prince in a Coma novel Chapter 324

Chapter 324

Grayson’s POV

“You have no right to the throne you are claiming!” I continued. Keeping my voice loud, I wanted as many people to hear as physically possible. This group would share the news louder, and wider, until everyone would know of my return. “You have stolen the succession from me, using my father’s failing health at the end of his life.”

“You weren’t here,” the Queen argued. “You don’t know the state he was in.”

“I wasn’t here because I had been kidnapped, given to the bears like a gift to get me out of the way,” I said. “Tell me step-mother. Did that not fit perfectly into your plan?”

“You accuse me of stealing the throne from my poor dead husband, as was his final wish for me,” the Queen replied. “And now you accuse me of betraying his only son? You are the traitor, Grayson. By not standing with me, you are against me. And this cannot be allowed.”

Around us, guards were starting to close in. I hoped their appearance and sheer numbers helped give Lily and the others the space they needed to enter the dungeons and free Prime Beta and the rest.

“You will bow to me,” the Queen said, furious. “Or you will die for your traitorous acts.”

The crowd began to rumble as the guards pushed through. I stepped forward, ready to fight the Queen myself and tear my father’s crown from her head. She did not deserve it. She never did.

She had stolen it.

But one of my own warriors touched my arm, stopping me. “More guards are appearing. There’s too many innocents. We have to retreat now, or innocent lives could be lost.”

I growled loudly. The Queen was still egging on her guards, urging them to fight us, even as my own warriors drew their blades. She didn’t seem to care at all for the innocents who would be caught in the middle.

But I did. And I refused to let them be harmed.

“We’ll go,” I said. The words moved through my warriors at once, and all of us started backing away. I gave the Queen one last look of utter disgust, before I turned and dashed, my warriors behind me.

The civilians made room for us, before closing the holes we’d made immediately after, blocking the guards from moving as freely.

Outside, I breathed in relief, seeing Prime Beta and the others loyal to me who had been captured.

“We have to leave at once,” I told Prime Beta. “Where’s Lillian?”

He gave me a grim look.

“Where?” I growled.

“She made an exchange,” Prime Beta said. “Her, in exchange for the rest of us. Prince Benedict held a knife to her throat. He took her.”

Roaring, I turned back toward the house. It took a dozen of my guard to hold me back and drag me away.

“Going back there right now is death,” Prime Beta said. “For you and for her. We need a plan.”

“That is my mate,” I growled.

“We will get her back,” Prime Beta said. “We have to go.”

was ready to tear the palace apart brick by brick to have her returned to me, but I knew, deep down, that without some kind of plan, forward action like that would only lead to us both being killed. For now, I had to leave her…

My heart tore in two.

Wait for me, I called to her in my mind. I will be back for you.

If, on rescuing her, even a single hair on her head was touched, I would burn this entire place to the ground.

Lillian’s POV

Benedict dragged me by the arm to the Queen’s chambers harsher than he needed to. I had already agreed to go with him willingly in exchange for the freedom of the prisoners. He didn’t need to be so rough. I wasn’t going to go back on my word.

Not yet, anyway.

Benedict’s betrayal cut me deeply. I still didn’t want to believe that he could have sided with the Queen, especially after all he had said to me at the café. But now, I was realizing with dread, he had only been so desperate to flee with me because he had known this was the alternative.
