Without hesitation, Aidan raised his paddle. “Two hundred million.”

The moment the words left his mouth, all eyes turned to him. The spotlight was exactly what he craved, and he raised his chin, basking in what he thought was admiration.

But his smug satisfaction lasted barely two seconds. From the back of the room, a calm voice called out, “Two hundred and one million.”

Aidan’s expression faltered for a moment, but he quickly countered, raising his paddle higher. “Two hundred and ten million.”

“Two hundred and twenty million,” another voice chimed in. A competing real estate company had entered the fray.

Without hesitation, Aidan raised his paddle again. “Two hundred and thirty million.”

From the back of the room, Ronald silently lifted his paddle. “Two hundred and thirty–one million”

Aidan’s face twisted with irritation. How petty could this guy be, raising the bid by only a million? “Two hundred and forty million,” he called out, his voice ringing louder as he shot Ronald a sharp glare.

The appraiser beside him tugged at Aidan’s sleeve, leaning in to whisper urgently. “We can’t go any higher. This is already beyond our estimated value.”

Their initial evaluation was set at two hundred million, but the bid had already exceeded that by forty million.

Aidan waved it off dismissively. “It’s just forty million more. The Whitewood family can handle

that.”

The appraiser glanced at Mr. Wilson, who gave no objection, so he chose not to press further. After all, his job was to provide information; the final decision rested with the Whitewood Group.

As Aidan called out his bid of two hundred and forty million, the other real estate company, which had been considering the lot, backed out. Now, only two bidders remained in the running.

“Two hundred and forty–one million,” Ronald said slowly, raising his paddle.

Aidan’s irritation mounted as the bid increased by a mere million. Without hesitation, he raised his paddle again. “Two hundred and fifty million.”

Mr. Wilson nodded in agreement, recognizing the truth in Seraphin’s words. Aidan’s actions were more about proving a point than sound business strategy.

Meanwhile, Ronald focused on the paddle in his hand, feeling cold sweat form in his palm. But when Seraphina shot him a glance, he raised his bid again. Inside, his heart raced. God, this is nearly three hundred million. If we back out now, our company could be finished. His expression remained composed, but deep down, panic was building. His calm demeanor was a stark contrast to the anxiety bubbling inside him.

Aidan, however, began to feel a twinge of doubt. But when Seraphina mentioned being slapped in the face, it triggered something inside him. He pushed the uncertainty aside and raised his paddle once more. “Three hundred million.”

The moment the words left his lips, the room came alive. All eyes were on him.

Though Lot One had a prime location with immense potential, its size was restricted. Bidding at three hundred million, coupled with the construction costs and other expenses, would require the price to skyrocket just to break even.

Whispers rippled through the crowd. Whitewood has some guts.

Both Mr. Wilson and the appraiser were visibly shocked, their faces draining of color. They had all hoped the bidder at the back would raise their paddle so they could finally back out.
