That’s 300 million, not three bucks! Our company doesn’t have that kind of money!
Ronald felt a wave of panic. He wasn’t sure if he should continue or whether he should listen to her. In his mind, this decision felt wrong.
Onstage, the auctioneer, seeing no bids from the audience, called out loudly, “Is there anyone willing to bid higher than this? Anyone else?”
The auctioneer’s gaze instinctively swept to the back of the room, landing on Ronald, who remained silent.
Seraphina raised an eyebrow and sent the pre–written message.
A moment later, Ronald’s phone vibrated. He glanced down at the text urging him to act, conflicted. Should I raise the paddle? 300 million is a huge amount!
Aidan saw that Ronald still hadn’t raised his paddle and smirked, a look of smug satisfaction spreading across his face.
Hmph, he still thinks he can beat me!
The auctioneer began the countdown.
“300 million, going once.”
“300 million, going twice.”
Just as the third call was about to sound, a paddle quietly rose from the back.
“300,100,000.”
The price caused a stir in the room. It was the first time everyone turned to look at the back of the room, their eyes landing on Ronald.
Ronald remained expressionless, calm, and composed, which made everyone around him quietly admire his demeanor.
Aidan gritted his teeth in frustration. This b*stard must be doing this on purpose; he must be!
Jane and the appraiser both sighed in relief, feeling a deep sense of gratitude. Thankfully,
someone took over.
However, their relief was premature.

Blinded by anger, Aidan raised his paddle again, gnashing his teeth as he shouted, “301,000,000!” Let’s see if he dares to continue bidding at this price!
Aidan’s eyes burned with fury, resembling a gambler who had lost control.
Ronald glanced at him indifferently, raised his paddle once again, and coolly said, “301,110,000.”
A murmur spread through the room. All eyes turned to Aidan, who felt cornered under the weight of everyone’s gaze. He wanted to lower his paddle but hesitated, not daring to do so.
Just as he was wavering, Seraphina pressed down on his hand, her voice cold as she reprimanded him. “Aidan, stop acting recklessly. Every time someone provokes you, you lose control. With your mentality, if the Whitewood Group is handed over to you, it’ll be ruined. Lucky for you that he raised his paddle, or else you’d be in a tight spot.”
Jane was also unhappy with Aidan’s behavior. “Mr. Aidan, stop bidding.”
The appraiser nodded in agreement. “This price is too high; you’ll lose money if you win.”
“Fool, don’t raise the paddle anymore. Can’t you see you’re being played?” Seraphina scolded him mercilessly in front of everyone.
Laughter rippled through the crowd, and Aidan’s face burned with embarrassment. He hated Seraphina, but he also hated Ronald.
The other side had set him up, so why couldn’t he do the same in return? Let’s see who’ll be laughing last.
The auctioneer began the final countdown.
Jane and the appraiser noticed that Aidan was finally quiet. They focused their attention on the auctioneer’s hammer, anxiously waiting for it to fall.
However, to their surprise, Aidan raised his paddle once again.
“350,000,000.”
A new round of murmurs spread across the room.
Everyone now admired Aidan.
A real estate company CEO whispered to someone beside him, “The Whitewood Family really raised a worthy son.”
The words dripped with sarcasm.

After announcing his bid, Aidan stood tall, looking at Ronald with a defiant gaze. This is my challenge. I know Ronald will fall for it. The moment he raises his paddle, I’ll stop. And then, I get to watch him deal with the fallout from his own foolish decision.
Aidan grinned inwardly, pleased with himself.
Seraphina glanced at him, her expression cold as she noticed the anticipation in his eyes. A faint, mocking smile tugged at the corner of her mouth. Fool.
