“Baby, did you miss me? Where are you today?” The man’s voice was soft, yet there was a hint of disdain in his tone. Still, for the sake of money, he played the part with a smile.

Chloe’s expression remained as cold as ever. “Austin, Augustus found out about us. He’s using it to blackmail me. What should I do? Maybe it’s best we cut ties for good.”

On the other end, Austin shoved the curvaceous woman he had been holding aside. His face grew serious. “Don’t worry. I’ll take care of him. I’ll send someone to handle this.”

For the past few years, Chloe had been supporting Austin, indulging him in a lavish lifestyle. He had grown used to living in luxury, all funded by the money she gave him each month.

“No,” Chloe responded firmly. “If you do that, you’ll only make him angrier. What if he gets so upset that he goes to my husband and causes trouble? What should I do then? Let’s end this now. From this point on, we’ll pretend we don’t know each other.” Her voice was filled with regret, tinged with sorrow.

Austin’s voice softened, but there was an edge of urgency to it. “Baby, can you really just let go of me like this? After everything we’ve been through, can you just walk away as if it meant nothing? You’ve become a part of my life. I can’t let you go. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of Augustus.”

His tone turned colder, more dangerous. “If he’s so eager to talk, then let’s make sure he can’t say another

word.”

Chloe’s heart raced as she quickly replied, “What are you planning to do? Don’t do anything reckless. He’s my brother, Austin. I can’t allow you to go too far. Do you understand?”

Her words hung in the air, a mixture of concern and desperation in her voice.

Austin chuckled softly, trying to calm her nerves. “Baby, where’s your mind going? I wouldn’t do anything reckless. I’m just sending someone to give him a warning. Don’t worry.”

Though his words were calm, a dark intent simmered beneath the surface of his voice.

After hanging up, Chloe’s lips curved into a subtle smile. There was no trace of concern in her eyes.
