r 297 The Unveiling of the Ancient Tomb
She was not a daughter of the Whitewood Family. So, could Linara truly be the Whitewood Family’s daughter?
If neither of them was, then where could the real Whitewood Family daughter be?
Or perhaps the question should be asked: did the Whitewood Family even have a daughter?
Countless thoughts swirled in Seraphina’s mind as she pondered.

Lost in her thoughts, Oberon’s light voice broke the silence. “Both of you should stay in the country. There’s no need to go abroad. Seraphina, do you think you can get into a university in Pearlpoint?”
I’ll try my best.”
Although she said this, Oberon held an unwavering confidence in her abilities.
Chloe, who had been quietly listening, spoke up. “Isn’t Pearlpoint too far? There are great schools in Duskmire as well. Why must we send her to Pearlpoint? I haven’t had enough time to bond with her.”
Oberon shot Chloe a sharp glance. Recently, she had been becoming more and more muddled. She had never been particularly insightful, but now it was starting to feel absurd.
“We’re going to Pearlpoint,” he declared with finality.
Even if Seraphina didn’t make the cut, he would find a way to get her in.
The Drakon and Foster families were both located in Pearlpoint. If Seraphina could integrate into that circle, it would prove to be a tremendous advantage for the Whitewood Group.
Seraphina smiled softly at Chloe. “I think Pearlpoint is a good choice.”
Just then, Oberon’s phone rang. He answered it immediately, his expression turning serious.
“What is it?” he asked, his voice steely.
“Mr. Whitewood, something major has happened. We don’t know which little brat leaked the information, but now reporters and local cultural heritage departments are rushing over. The police are here, and they’ve surrounded the construction site.”
Oberon’s phone slipped from his hand, falling to the floor with a sharp crack. The three in the living room turned toward him in unison, their gazes focused, alarmed.
“Honey, what’s going on?” Chloe asked, her voice tinged with concern.
Oberon picked up his phone, his expression calm, ready to leave.
At that moment, Jasmine entered, flanked by two police officers. “Mr. Whitewood, these officers are here to see you.”
Chloe’s heart skipped a beat at the sight of the police. Could it be that Austin had left some evidence behind, and now it was coming back to haunt her?

Oberon greeted them with a composed demeanor. “Please, officers, have a seat. Jasmine, would you bring us
some tea?”
One of the officers raised a hand, stopping him. “No tea, Mr. Whitewood. We’ve received a tip–off from the public. You are suspected of damaging national heritage by illegally excavating an ancient tomb. We need you to accompany us for further investigation.”
Oberon furrowed his brow in confusion. “An ancient tomb? What tomb? You must be mistaken, officers. I’m a legitimate businessman, not a tomb raider. I would never be involved in something like this. This accusation is completely baseless.”
One of the officers pulled out his phone and showed him a photo of the construction site.
“Mr. Whitewood, I’m sure you recognize this place. It’s Harbor Zone No. 1, the area you’ve been developing. Right now, an ancient tomb is being unearthed there. If you have any questions, you’re welcome to come to the station to explain them.”
The officer stepped forward, pulling out a pair of handcuffs.
“Mr. Whitewood, if you cooperate, we won’t need to use these. But if you don’t, we’ll have no choice but to proceed.”
Without a word, Oberon followed the officers out of the house and into the waiting police car.
The family stood frozen, their eyes following the car as it disappeared down the street.
Chloe’s panic surged. “What’s going on? Hurry, call Jane. Tell him to find a lawyer!”
That evening, news of Oberon, chairman of the Whitewood Group, being taken by the police spread rapidly across the internet. Headlines blared about the company’s alleged involvement in the illegal excavation of ancient tombs and the theft of national treasures.
Some media outlets went so far as to claim that Oberon had known about the tomb beneath the land when he purchased it for 350 million. What had seemed like a hefty price tag was now being portrayed as a bargain, a steal in fact.
With reports full of conflicting stories–some true, some false—it seemed all but certain that the Whitewood Group would face not only a trial but also demands for enormous compensation.
