Ryan’s pov

Pain explodes inside my skull like a raging fire as her hands press harder on my temples.

It felt like sharp claws were digging into every part of my mind, ripping, tearing, searching for something worthy deep inside me. She was searching for what mattered most. Evie.

I roared, my body jerking violently against the warriors holding me down. My muscles strained, veins bulging beneath my skin as Apex snarls in my head untamed and enraged.

‘She’s inside our mind!’ he roared.

‘I know!’ I snarl out loud, my voice hissing as another wave of pain slams into me. It wasn’t just physical pain. It was way worse than that. It was like someone was trying to reach into my soul and rip the pieces out one by one.

Images flickered behind my eyes. Evie. Her beautiful face. Her pretty smile that always made my heart pound hard against my chest. Her scent that always made me want to inhale it in every single second of the day.

Her voice whispering my name. Ryan…

“Get out of my head!” I roared, my entire body shaking with fury as I thrashed violently. The warriors struggled to keep me restrained as the witch’s fingers pressed harder into my temples.

“Keep him down!” One yelled as Apex tries to shift. But this witch has her claws in my brain, her coldness seeping into my mind like roots.

Then her voice slips into my mind, cold and nonchalant. “Stop resisting. You’ll only make it hurt more.”

“Fuck you! Fuck all of you!” I snarl, forcing my mind to fight back but she wouldn’t let up and pushes deeper.

And then suddenly….I was there again. Evie standing in front of me. Tiny and beautiful, her eyes glistening as the sun struck over her like she was some kind of fairy.

“Ryan don’t,” she says with a giggle, her stance going into one of fleeting as she watches me like a hawk. Her pretty eyes dart down to the little lizard in my hand and she looks downright flushed.

I smirked, raising the lizard before running to her. She lets out a joyful scream and darts away from me, her hair dancing through the wind behind her. I laughed, watching the small woman I love run away from a tiny creature.

She didn’t know it yet but I was planning to choose her. Her above everything and everyone else.

My chest tightened painfully at the memory.

Mine.

Apex growled possessively and the witch recoiled slightly.

“Stop,” I breathed out, my voice tired and broken. “Please stop.”

“Strong,” the witch murmurs out loud. “They have a very strong bond.” Her voice swirls with shock. “Even though he has marked another. The bond….it’s still there.”

“Wait, maybe it’s too much Ryker,” my mother’s voice whispered from somewhere behind the woman. I looked up, my body now so tired. Yet even though I was exhausted, I managed a glare at the woman.

“I will kill you,” I promised her and she raised a brow, seeming to not be impressed but I saw that brief flicker of

fear before she concealed it.

“Finish it,” my father ordered coldly. Rage exploded inside me and I turned my head slightly, my eyes locking onto his icy ones. This isn’t the man I looked up to. This is a monster. One I don’t recognize.

“Why are you trying to erase her, father?” I rasped, betrayal cutting through every word that leaves my lips. ” She’s done nothing wrong.”

His expression didn’t change. Not even a little bit. “This is for the good of the pack.”

The good of the pack. Those words snapped something inside me and I let out a laugh. It came out broken and crazed. “You’re weak and a shame to the pack,” I spat. “Both of you deserve worse than death.”

My mother flinched but father didn’t. The witch’s grip tightened suddenly, her voice sharpening.”Stop resisting,” She demands as she pushes harder.

And suddenly, once again memories began flashing rapidly.

Evie is in a pretty pink dress, twirling around in the meadow. The second she spots me, her face flushed a bright cherry red that made my blood settle hot on my cock.

“Didn’t think you’d be here before me,” I had teased her as I walked over. I was trying my hardest to make sure I hid the very evident arousal I was spotting. Thankfully, my innocent best friend doesn’t notice.

“I left early,” she smiles brightly, her white teeth gleaming. “I wanted out of that house.”

Another memory rushes inside my head. Evie crying when she didn’t get a wolf.

“I am useless, aren’t I?” Her lower lip trembles as her voice soaks with raw emotion. She was sad.

I sit beside her on the step, close enough to feel her warmth brush against my side. I hope my warmth was easing her just as hers soothed me. I throw my hand around her and pull her in. The second I do, Evie drops her head on my shoulder and whimpers.

The sound breaks me.

“Useless?” I grumble. “You could never be useless Evie. You have more worth here than anyone in this pack,” I place a finger under her chin and lift her head up. Our eyes clashed. “You have no idea how strong you are munchkin.”

The memories began to blur and fade, leaving me grasping for scraps.

“No,” I growled desperately.

My heart pounded violently in my chest. She was trying to take her memories away from me. Trying to steal her from me. Trying to make me forget she ever existed,

Panic unlike anything I had ever felt, clawed up my throat. No. Goddess no. Death would have been easier than this. Forgetting her? Forgetting the girl I am in love with was the worst pain I’ll ever go through. Living in a world where she didn’t exist? That was a fate worse than death.

Apex roared inside me, his fury shaking my entire being. ‘She is ours! No!’

“Please,” I begged, my body weakening as Evie’s face started to blur.

“Sleep, young alpha,” the witch says as her fingers press against my temples again, harder.
