Evie’s pov

Fire of irritation burns under my skin as I storm my way to Alpha Gavin’s office. I got confused and feared looks from the other members of the pack but I ignored them as I continued my way to the office. The closer I got, the more his scent grew. I stop in front of the door.

For a moment, I just stare at the wooden door. The very same door that brought me fear three years ago and intimidated me. Three years ago, I would’ve knocked, Three years ago, I would’ve waited patiently for him to give me the green light to enter.

Not anymore.

I shove it open with a force that made it slam hard against the wall with a sharp crack. Gavin doesn’t flinch or look up. He knew it was me.

He stands behind his desk, the sleeves of his dress shirt rolled to his forearms. He seem to be dressed formal which leads me to believe Jonah was speaking the truth. He was heading for that meeting with the council about Silver Blood. Y

Gavin’s large frame is bent slightly forward as he stacks papers neatly into a leather brown suitcase. He looks rather calm, completely ignoring my raging form glaring at him across the room.”

I stalk closer, seething silently. “Why are you going?” I sneered, my hands fisting at my sides. Serena stirs.

Gavin doesn’t look up right away, instead he finishes aligning the papers first and slides them into place before finally looking up calmly. “It’s the council’s order. I can’t ignore it,” he points out, his voice just as calm.

Ifold my arms across my chest. “But it’s about THEM,” I gritted out.” You promised we’d have nothing to do with that pack.”

Gavin lets out a sigh then and pick up his suitcase. “This is out of my control Evie. Besides,” he rounds the table and struts over to me in his powerful form. “We’re not sure what this meeting is about. It could be about anything.

I scoffed and his lips twitch in amusement. “Relax,” he chuckles and flicks my forehead. “Don’t be so worried. I’m just attending, it’s not like I’m joining forces with Silver Blood.”

I swat his hand away and half up at him. He sighs. “Evie, please just trust me on this okay?”

For a few moments I just stare at him before I let out a breath and nod once.

Little did I know that things were not going to be ‘fine’ at all. Because when Gavin returns to the pack house, he’s not as calm as he left. No. He’s raging, his wolf just at the surface. His entire demeanor had changed.

Gavin’s pov

There’s that lingering scent of fear roaming the walls of the council’s chambers. Fear that did not cling on to me but them. The vampires had shaken them. That was very evident.

I looked up from my seat to stare at all of them, Beside me were many alphas including…him. The one who let go of a treasure. Alpha of the Silver Blood pack. Ryan Storme himself.

His posture wasn’t arrogant but his demeanor was still rigid. He hadn’t lifted his eyes from the stone floors, not

even once. The grief that clings to him is suffocating.

A sudden rise of one of the council elders made me cast my gaze away from Ryan to him. They were talking about the vampires and how they needed to be executed before they threaten another pack. But then the conversation suddenly strays to me.

“Alpha Gavin,” he calls, his gruff voice echoing through the chamber. “Your pack has the strongest warrior division in the region.”

It wasn’t a question but a statement, yet I answer anyway. “That is correct.”

Another council member leans forward, this one not as old as the first. “Specifically, your head warrior.”

I stiffen and on instinct my jaw tightens.

“Her combat record surpasses any warrior currently serving under Silver Blood,” the man continues and murmurs rock the room. From the corner of my eye, I can see Ryan’s shoulders have stiffened.

I keep my face nonchalant and lean back on the chair. “What are you suggesting Cedric?” I asked tightly. Why was my warriors, my head warrior specifically being mentioned?

The elders look among themselves and the alphas beside me look at them impatiently. “We are not suggesting Alpha Gavin,” they pause briefly before Cedric speaks up again, this time a lot firmer. “We are ordering.”

I stiffen and the air grows thick with tension.

“You will send your warriors to reinforce Silver Blood. Have the leader of the warriors train his pack,” he finishes and looking pleased with himself. 1

The room falls into silence as the alphas exchange glances. At first, for a few tense breathing seconds, I don’t move, or speak. Hell I can’t even think.

Until I glance up and see Ryan’s face. They expect me to send Evie to train the very same pack that treated her like crap?

Though the council didn’t know any of this, I knew. And that was enough for me to mock Ryan. “So basically you’re saying my pack needs to clean up theirs?”

Cedric’s eyes shift in irritation. “He has lost many of his warriors. Those that are left and those that will be trying to join need the best to get stronger. The vampires can attack their pack again, they need to be prepared.”

“With all due respect Cedric, this is not my failing,” I crossed my arms over my chest. “I don’t see why I should help.”

Cedric’s eyes narrowed. “This isn’t a war against wolves. This is a war against vampires. We need unity.”

I snorted. “Unity? After being crowned the evilest alpha in the region, now you lot want my help?”

“You can keep your damn warriors,” Ryan suddenly sneers aloud. “We don’t need you in our borders. We don’t need your fucking help.”

I brought my attention to him, my brows raising. “Says the guy who half of his pack is wiped out. You’re a failed leader.”

Ryan stands up abruptly, his eyes flashing red as his wolf nearly takes over. The other alphas hold him back but I

smirk.

“Silence!” The council members ordered.

“Alpha Gavin,” Cedric started once more.” You have no choice but to do this.”
