Evie’s pov
I can hear her turn to stare at my back but I don’t whirl to look at her as she continues.” He doesn’t remember all those memories. You and him. That night. Nothing. You’re erased from his memory. A stranger. You’re no one to him.”
My heart skips painfully despite trying to appear calm. My hands fists at my sides and Kimberly continues. “A few years ago, some rogues attacked our pack. It was a gruesome war. Ryan got injured badly. Some of his memories got erased.”
‘She’s lying, Serena hums. ‘I can sense it.’
Why should we care anyway?’ I reply softly. ‘It’s not our place to care about someone who wanted us dead.” Serena moves to the back of my mind and I straighten. “Why are you telling me this? I don’t care.” I said coldly and turned to give her my attention. She had a smirk on her face and it erases completely when she sees my unbothered expression.
She wanted me to feel hurt. She wanted me to crumble in front of her. That won’t ever happen.
Her eyes narrowed. “Don’t take me for a fool Evie. I know you’re in love with him-
“Maybe I was,” I cut in coldly. “But not anymore.”
Those words came out cold but I wasn’t sure if they were the truth. Because a part of me knew that I would still love Ryan. At least the version that took care of me before that dreadful night.
Her eyes widen in surprise and I continue. “You should not worry about Ryan and me. I only came here because the council demanded it. As soon as I’m done I will go and you will never see me again. In the meantime, let’s be civil.”
Her lips pressed tight. ” Civil? With a low ranked wolf? You’re nothing-
I rolled my eyes, turned around and shut her out. “Hey, I’m talking to you! You can’t walk away from me! I am the Luna of this pack!” I can hear the stomp of her foot on the gravel and nearly chuckle. I enjoyed getting under her skin.
“Watch me,” I said dryly as I open the door and step into the pack house. The second I enter, I am flooded with the memories of this place. I grit my teeth.
Don’t think about them Evie.
Gavin and the others had patiently waited for me and the moment I strut into the room, Gavin moves to my side. His eyes drop to my hand. The very same one my claws caught her blood.
He raised a brow. “You drew blood,” he points out, not sounding surprised or angry but… amused. I glance down at my hand before wiping the faint smear of crimson on my pants. “She tried to slap me,” I shrug unbothered. ” Reflex.”
Gavin’s lips twitch like he’s trying not to smile and behind him, a few of our warriors look really pleased with what I had revealed. “Did you break her nail?” Lisa asks with a smirk.
I scoff. “Please. You’d hear the bitch screeching like a banshee if I did,” A quiet chuckle spreads through our group by my words and across the room, the Silver Blood wolves stiffen, clearly not enjoying the conversation.

One of them shoots me a glare but quickly looks away when Gavin’s gaze flicks in his direction. Pussy. They’ve really gotten weak.
Gavin studies my face for a moment longer, his sharp eyes searching. “You handled everything?
“Yes,” I reply instantly.
I don’t tell him what Kimberly said about Ryan’s memories. I’m not even sure why I don’t bother. Maybe because it doesn’t matter… or maybe because it does more than I want to admit.
Serena shifts slightly in my mind. ‘You’re lying to yourself again.’
‘Not now,’ I mutter to her.
The Silver Blood wolves lead us to the west wing where Ryan ordered them to. I remember this part of the house, so far away from the pack members. This place was for those who were guests or those that didn’t quite….belong.
A place for outsiders….
My jaw tightens slightly as I recall a memory of Ryan and me playing hide and seek here when we were kids. I had cut my finger on a splinted piece of wood and when he found me, he had hugged me and licked my small wound.
From that day, he promised to never allow anything to hurt me again. How foolish was I to have believed his words then.
The west wing is quieter than the rest of the house seeing as it’s so far from everyone else. The laughter and gossip from the main area barely reaches here. It’s like a brush of wind, faint and uncatchable.
Lisa glances around with little curiosity while the others stay alert. This area wasn’t decorated much, bland if I must say. But I’m not surprised. It’s been like that for years. No one cares about this side of the house.
One of the Silver Blood warriors stops at a large wooden oak door and pushes it open. It creeks and the smell of dust assaults our noses the second he pushes it open further to reveal the room.”This will be your room,” he says stiffly.
Gavin nods once and steps inside first, scanning the space before the rest of us follow. The room is larger than I expected. Two windows overlook the training fields and a sectional sofa is arranged near a fireplace. Several beds line the far wall.
I suppose we were all meant to sleep here. It felt like a polite way of saying you’re not welcome. “Make yourselves comfortable,” the warrior mutters coldly before quickly leaving as though his tail had caught on fire.
The moment the door shuts, Lisa flops onto one of the beds dramatically. It squeaks under her weight. “Well,” she says, stretching her arms as she rests on her back and stares at the ceiling. “Their hospitality is just lovely.”
One of our warriors snorts.”They look like they’re scared we’ll eat them.”
Gavin walks toward the window, his arms folding over his chest as he looks out toward the training grounds.” They’re not scared,” he says dryly, his shoulders tense. “They’re ashamed.”
He turns to face us and gestures to the room in contempt. “This is unacceptable. We won’t accept this kind of arrangement.”
I nod, agreeing with him. Both male and female to share a room with beds that look to be so weak that they threatened to fall under our weight? Yes, the arrangement wasn’t good enough.
Lisa props herself up on her elbows, looking around again with a wrinkle in her nose as though she smelt

something disgusting. “It smells like an abandoned attic.”
One of our warriors, Sam, kicks lightly at the leg of one of the beds. The damn thing creaks loudly in protest. “I’m pretty sure this thing died a long time ago,” he mutters.
I grit my teeth and walk past Sam toward one of the beds. I press my palm down against the mattress. Dust puffs into the air like smoke.Lovely.
“They’re insulting us,” Sam sneers low and crosses his arms across his chest. “Even rogue packs treat guests better than this.”
