The Alpha Slipped Inside The Wrong Sister novel Chapter 77

Ryan’s pov

I stare at the two. Gavin and Evie.

My teeth grind together as I watch her smile at him. Why am I that irritated by her smiling at him?

I want to peel my eyes away but I can’t.

I fucking can’t.

‘Let’s rip his eyes out for watching her.’ Apex growled which didn’t quite help my temper.

I let out a hiss and force myself to look elsewhere. Beta Margaret came to speak to Evie. It was clear Evie didn’t trust her mother or like being in her presence.

Which leads me to wonder what the Gold family was hiding.

From Kimberly treating Evie like an outsider to now getting confirmation that Margaret didn’t treat her kindly too. Had Dustin treated her unfairly as well?

There were so many things to uncover.

Without being able to stop myself, I find my eyes casting back to her as she walks away with Margaret. The way her shoulders were straight and the way she held her head high……she oozed confidence.

The second they disappeared my eyes drift to him. Alpha Gavin. The man Evie smiled at and let him touch her without ripping her hand away like she does me. I can’t help but glare at him as jealousy swirls inside me like never before.

“Have you lost something on my face, Alpha Ryan?” Alpha Gavin suddenly mocks, a smirk curving on his mouth. ” Your glare may just drill a hole in my temple.” He gives me a glance. Amused. He was amused.

I want to punch that fucking smug smirk right off his face. But I refrain.

Instead, I utter dryly. “You and your head warrior are rather close,” I rip my eyes away from him to stare at the others, trying to not make him see how angry I am. “Are you two mates?”

Apex stirs restlessly when I ask those questions, hating the very thought of Evie being Gavin’s.

There was no mark on her or him. No scent of them sharing bodily fluids too.

I don’t even want my mind to stray there……

My jaw clenches hard.

Gavin doesn’t reply right away; he lets the tension brew between us. Even the others looked up to stare at us uneasily. They didn’t know what we were talking about but it was clear they sensed the growing tension.

Then Alpha Gavin finally responds. “I don’t think it’s any of your business to know, Alpha Ryan,” I looked over at him to see that his brow was raised. Almost mockingly. “Don’t you think you’re crossing the line by prying into my affairs?”

My hands fisted at my sides and the tension inside me stirs restlessly.

Why was he so tight-lipped about it? Could she really be his…mate? If so, why had he yet to claim her?

The thought of him claiming her didn’t sit right with me. I loathed the idea of his lips touching hers. I was such a hypocrite when I was already mated. Why do I feel such bitter jealousy towards an alpha for the sake of a woman I only just met yesterday?

A woman my mind had forgotten?

‘Because she’s clearly not just any woman,’ Apex stirs. ‘There’s something about her that pulls us. Pulls me.’

‘Whatever it is,’ I told him calmly. ‘ We must not act too rashly about it.’

“It was a simple question,” I shrug, feigning indifference. “I don’t care who she’s mates with.”

Shit. The words came out of my mouth before I could stop them. Why would I say that? Now he’d know for sure I was interested in anything pertaining to Evie. Especially her claimed status.

‘It’s not very much well hidden Ryan,’ Apex growled. ‘Anyone who’s clever enough can practically sense the yearning we have for her.’

Fuck.

I watched Gavin’s brow raise a little with amusement before he snorted and shook his head. “You might want to work on that because your face says otherwise.”

My jaw tightens as irritation makes me stir. “Careful,” I warned as Apex shifts. Gavin being one to never back down, turns to face me fully.

Now we’re both facing each other. Challenging the other.

“You should heed your own advice Ryan,” his lips curl into a smirk. “Anything to do with Evie is not your concern.
