The Alpha Who Never Loved Me (Serena and Kieran) novel Chapter 104

Chapter 104

Kieran

Serena stood with her bag over her shoulder.

She didn’t look at me. Her hand gripped the strap and her body angled toward the exit and every line of her posture said she was already gone.

“We’re not finished talking,” I said.

“We’ve been finished for a long time.” She pulled the door open. “You got the results. You saw them with your own eyes. There’s nothing left to discuss.”

“Those results are wrong.”

She turned around. Her face was calm and her eyes were dry and the lack of emotion on her was worse than any scream she’d ever thrown at me.

“You ran the test yourself,” she said. “You brought the doctor. You watched him draw the blood.” She tilted her head. “Now the answer isn’t what you wanted and suddenly the results are wrong?”

“Cora doesn’t react to you the way he would if-”

“I don’t care what your wolf thinks.” She cut me off. “Sign the papers, Kieran. Let me live my life.”

She walked out. The door shut behind her and the sound of it rattled through the apartment and settled into my chest.

I stood there for a long time.

Then I grabbed my keys.

The drive to the hospital took twenty minutes. I parked in the lot and walked through the main entrance and went straight for Misha’s office. The receptionist called after me but I didn’t slow down.

I pushed the door open without knocking.

Misha stood there with his eyes on me watching the conversation between Serena and I. i knew he was not the father and was only faking it but why did he agree to this? His family was honest and kind and would not mess with mine, so what made him believe he could do this and just walk out unharmed?.

Misha looked at me for a beat. Then he leaned forwood and folded his hands on the desk,

“If you agree to the divorce,” he said, “I’ll marry ana the next day.”

My blood went cold. The hallway shrank around me and the air thinned and Cora snarled so loud the vibration pressed against the backs of my teeth.

“But if you don’t want to agree,” Misha continued, his voice carrying no rush and no fear, “then Serena and I will keep having our babies while you stand outside and watch.” He tilted his head, “The choice is yours.”

I wanted to grab him by the collar again and drag him gegs the hallway. I wanted to put my fist through hips,

face and hear the sound of bone giving way beneath my knuckles. Cora threw himself against my ribs and my vision tunneled and my hands shook at my sides.

But I didn’t move.

If I touched him, it would prove everything Serena believed about me. t would hand her the ammunition to bury me in court.

I straightened. My hands dropped to my sides.

“You think you’ve won,” I said.

Misha didn’t respond. He just sat there with his glasses on and his hands folded and his face arranged in a calm that made my stomach churn.

I turned and walked out of his office.

The corridor stretched long in front of me and my stride was fast and hard and my shoes cracked against the tile. The parking lot was bright with afternoon sun and I got into my car and gripped the steering wheel until my knuckles turned white.

Misha was a liar. The test was rigged. The results were

fabricated. My wife was carrying my child and everyone around me conspired to tell me otherwise.

If Serena wouldn’t tell me the truth, someone else would.

I started the engine and drove to her parents’ house.

The street was quiet when I pulled up. I cut the engine, got out, walked to the front door. I didn’t knock. I pushed it open and stepped inside.

Serena was sitting on the couch.

Her head snapped up the second I came through the door. She rose to her feet and her hand went to her belly and her eyes burned with a fury I knew by heart.

“What are you doing here?”

I walked past her. She grabbed my arm but I pulled free without looking at her. I rounded the corner into the kitchen where Frederick and Sylvia sat at the table. Frederick had a newspaper open in front of him. Sylvia held a cup of tea.

They both looked up.

“Your daughter,” I said, “has been giving out her body to other men.”

The words dropped into the room like stones into still water. Sylvia’s cup paused halfway to her mouth. Frederick’s hands went flat on the newspaper.

“The baby she’s carrying belongs to another man.” I held their eyes. “Your daughter cheated on me. She went to another country, slept with someone else, got pregnant, and now she’s using that child to force me into a divorce.”

Serena appeared behind me. “Kieran, stop-”

“Did you know?” I asked Frederick. “Did you know your daughter was sleeping around?”

Frederick folded the newspaper. He set it aside.

He looked at Sylvia and she looked at him and the

conversation that passed between their eyes lasted three seconds and said everything.

“We knew,” Sylvia said.

My chest caved in.
