The Alpha Who Never Loved Me (Serena and Kieran) novel Chapter 111

Chapter 111

Serena

Mark drove me to the house.

He led me up to the elevator and then we arrived at the eight floor. The last time I was here, I had been tied to the bed and held prisoner all because he wanted to keep me as his wife and now, he had succeeded in keeping me tied still, not by using ropes, this time, he used a contract.

He used my family.

I hated the sight of him.

The elevator parted and the living room came into view. Kieran was standing in the middle of the room looking at me with a victorious smirk he was battling to keep hidden.

“Welcome home,” Kieran said.

Home.

What a joke.

I stepped past him into the house. The thought of spending the rest of my life here tugged at my heartstrings.

He wanted to take me back to when I had been hopelessly in love with him, back to when he was my whole world.

“Stop avoiding me,” Kieran said behind me.

I turned around. My blood was already boiling.

“Avoiding you?” My voice shook. “You dragged me here with a contract. Because of your schemes, my mother is in the hospital. You think I owe you eye contact now?”

“You are only doing this to save your family.” His voice stayed even. “We both know that.”

“Yes.” I laughed bitterly. “That is what I am doing. Do you think I’d want to be here otherwise?”

“Serena-”

“You love another woman, Kieran.” My voice climbed. “You love her. Your family knows you love her. She is carrying your mistress title, your time, your attention 3:05 your history. So why are you bothering yourself with me?

Why do you not go to her and leave me alone?”

He did not answer. His jaw tightened.

“Answer me!”

“Get settled,” he said. “Wash your face. We are going to see your family in an hour.”

“I can go alone.”

“No.” He said without missing a beat.

“Kieran-”

“Do you remember the document you signed, Serena?” His voice was quiet now. “Every clause. Do you remember?”

I remembered.

“If you go against any part of it,” he said, “you go back to the cell. Pregnant or not.”

My chest tightened.

“You hate me that much?” My voice cracked. “You would

send me back to prison pregnant? Is that the kind of man you want to be?”

“If the baby belonged to me, it would be a different case.” He held my eyes. “I would never let you spend a day in prison. But the baby is not mine, according to you. So you will spend your life in prison if you want to leave. Your

choice.”

I stared at him.

The lie I built was a noose around my own neck. He was using it against me every way he could, first to justify his cruelty, now to trap me in a marriage I did not want.

I knew he did not believe that this baby was not his, still, he let me stay in jail with the suspicion that the baby was

his.

What a cruel man.

All he had spoken, what he said about things being different was simply to ease his own guilt and try to control me or even manipulate me to tell the truth.

All that he cared about was one thing and that was

control. He wanted to lead.

“Fine,” I said. I did not have the energy to fight this fight

right now.

My phone buzzed inside my bag.

I bent to grab it. Kieran was faster. His hand closed around mine before my fingers touched the zipper.

“I’ll get it,” he said.

He pulled the phone out. He looked at the screen. His thumb swiped through something, his eyes moved across the screen, then he handed it back to me.

“Why would you do that?” My voice rose. “Why would you go through my phone like I am a child?”

“You signed a contract,” he said. “You agreed never to speak to Misha outside of work. I have to be sure.”

My hand shook around the phone. I did not say anything. What was there to say? I signed. I agreed. I gave him the right to strip privacy away from me with my own signature on his document.

The screen showed the call was from Jenna.

I ignored the call, slipped the phone into my pocket.

“I want to take a bath,” I said.

“Go.”

I walked past him, up the stairs, into the bedroom. I brought no clothes with me, but knowing Kieran, he must be prepared for this and stocked the whole place with clothes my size.

I went into the bathroom, locked the door, ran the water. I stood under the spray until the water turned warm, then hot, then burning. My hands pressed flat against the tile. My forehead rested against the wet wall.

How did I get here?

How was I standing in a bathroom inside a house I have been trying to run away from, still married to a man who had ruined my entire life and was continuing to?

Several times I have fallen into his schemes, anytime I thought I had taken five steps forward, created distance between us, he just proved to me that there was no

escape, he was a dark cloud hovering above me. 13:06

I wrapped myself in a towel, stepped out of the bathroom, started to dry my hair.

The bedroom door was open. Kieran stood just outside the bathroom door, his shoulder pressed against the wall, his eyes on the floor.

“What are you doing?” My voice was flat.

He lifted his head to look at me. “Waiting.”

What was this clingy behavior? “I need privacy.”

“You will not be getting any.” He said his eyes not moving

from mine.

I stared at him.

He was just going to stand there while I dressed, while I brushed my hair, while I put on makeup, because the contract said he owned my time now, and my body, and the space around my body.

It was as if I had turned into a toy for him.

This man. This impossible man. He was not letting go. He

was never going to let go. Not for the divorce, not for the test result, not for the rejection I threw in his face in front of both families. No matter what I did, no matter what lie I told, no matter what door I slammed, he kept pushing it open again.

There was only one way to get rid of a man like this.

Another woman.

A woman he truly wanted. A woman who wanted him back. A woman who has given him a child and onw who he actually belonged to.

Sophie.

If Sophie came back into the picture with enough force, if she reminded him why he had loved her, then perhaps he would be able to choose her and they would love happily

ever.

He would let me go.

He would have to.
