The Alpha Who Never Loved Me (Serena and Kieran) novel Chapter 117

Chapter 117

Serena

Kieran drove us to the Alpha house.

I did not want to go. But the contract said I had to.

The front door opened before we stepped on the porch. Kieran’s mother rushed out, her arms already reaching for me, her face lit up in a bright smile that warmed my

heart.

“Serena!” She pulled me into a hug. “Oh, my girl, come in, come in. Careful of the step. How are you feeling? Are you tired? Do you need water? Let me get you water.”

She held me at arm’s length, looked me over, checked my face, my belly, my shoes. Her words were calm and fussing, almost making me seem like I was sick instead If just being simply pregnant.

“You are beautiful.” Her voice was gentle. “You look beautiful. Come. Sit down.”

Magchest pulled.

Kieran’s mother was a lot of things and kind was one of them. She loved me dearly like her own daughter and it would always warm my heart, never did she treat me like I was a terrible person and when Kieran had betrayed me, she stayed on my side.

But how long would she be on my side? Kieran was her son anyway and if this news continued that the baby did not belong to Kieran, or there came a day that the family is convinced, I doubt that she would be on my side.

Fortunately, such a thing would not happen. Jenna knows who the real father is and knowing Jenna, she would definitely tell her mother.

So perhaps, all this fussing is mainly because she knew it was her grandchild.

“I am fine,” I said. “Thank you.”

She walked me into the sitting room. Kieran stayed behind us, quietly watching.

Jenna was on the couch. She stood the moment she saw

me, crossed the room, wrapped her arms around me,

squeezed tight.

“You have not been answering my calls,” she whispered against my ear.

I cleared my throat.

“A lot has happened.” Those were the words that could easily explain why has been happening.

She pulled back, studied my face. Her eyes flickered to Kieran behind me.

“What kind of a lot?” She asked, wearing a gaze of scrutiny and suspicion.

“The kind that needs another room to be discussed.” I

winked at her,

Kieran stepped forward. “What kind of conversation are the two of you about to have?”

Jenna and I shared a look.

Jenna turned to her brother. “This is between girls, Kieran. Do not concern yourself with it.”

Hisjaw tightened. I almost smiled, he must think this was about periods or other girly stuff.

“Why is that slut in my house?”

A voice cut across the sitting room from the hallway making the whole room go still.

Kieran’s hand shot to my wrist, pulled me behind him, his body a wall between me and the hallway. I watched the back of his head for a long moment.

My eyes rolled to the back of my head.

I stepped around him. I pulled my hand out of his grip so I can come into Crowley’s view..

Crowley stood in the hallway archway. His face was contorted into a deep frown, staring at the lack of kindness and warmth I was used to and I had been

expecting.

The news spread like wildfire on a midsummer’s night, there was no way it would not have reached him, and there was no way he would like hearing that his great grand child belonged to another man and not just that, the whole pack knew.

“Why would you bring another man’s child into this 478

house?” His voice was shaking with rage. “Into a home that has carried the Thawthorne name for four generations? Have you no shame, Serena?”

“Grandfather, you cannot talk to my wife-”

“Be quiet, Kieran!” Crowley was not about to hear from

Kieran.

“I said do not speak to her—”

“Kieran.” My voice cut in. “It is not your place to defend

me.”

He turned his head toward me, his jaw locked.

“Serena, shut up—”

I ignored him.

I turned back to Crowley. I kept my voice quiet. He was having a fit of anger and matching his tone would not do me any good.

your hallway and call me names because I am carrying a child, but here is something you should think about.” I held his eyes. “Your grandson could not get me pregnant. Now I am pregnant, and suddenly a child has appeared, and your grandson is desperate enough to claim a baby he thinks is not his just to keep me in his house. That is your legacy. That is the man you raised.”

Kieran’s hand closed around my wrist.

“What the fuck are you saying, Serena?” He barked into my face.

I shrugged.

“I am saying what is true, Kieran.” I turned to look at him. “Throughout our entire marriage, you could not get me pregnant. Is that my fault?”

Crowley’s face went red.

“Get out of my house.” His voice trembled. “You are not allowed here, Serena. Get out.”

I laughed.
