Chapter 153
Serena
The last thing I wanted to do was go back to that house.
I sat in my car outside the building for a while. I needed to clear my head. Kieran had done something horrible last night and it was impossible to look past him. It was impossible to see him as anything else.
I needed clothes. That was the only reason I was here. I’d go in, take what I needed, and go.
Aina stirred in my chest. Perhaps after being forced to submission last night, she had little to no movements today. She had been quiet, not even trying to feel Cora as she usually would.
I eventually climbed out of my car and walked through the lobby, taking the elevator to the floor the house was located.
The whole house smelled of pasta sauce and a mix of sugar. Kieran was standing by the kitchen island staring at me with a smile,
He was in a grey shirt with his sleeves pushed up, his hair pushed back. In front of him on the table sat a plate of food, a black box, and a cake with the frosting.

My eyes trailed from the pasta to the sauce and then to the cake before landing on the box. “What’s that?” I asked.
He immediately opened the box and inside it was something I didn’t think I would ever see again.
I almost gasped.
My mother’s jewelry that I had sold was inside. Neatly placed and sparkling in the kitchen.
“I know how important it is, so I bought It back,” Kieran said. He came around the island, stopping before he was close enough to touch me.
He looked at the box, then at me. “I want things to work out between us, Serena. I want to go back to what we were.” He paused. “I know I did things for Sophie that I never did for you. I know that. I’m trying to change that now.” He looked at the cake. “I baked you a cake and made pasta for you.”
I looked at him for a minute, a laughter or even a cry, I could not tell was hanging right on my tongue. I grabbed the box and turned away from him.
I packed some of my clothes into a small bag and then dragged it out. Inside me, Aina still had no reaction. Nothing. She really had had enough after last night..

“My parents’ house.”
He stepped forward. “Why? Serena, the cake…”
I stopped. “The cake?” I turned around to face him. “You think doing the things you have done for Sophie like I am some kind of an afterthought was going to fix anything?”
“You made a cake for Sophie, spent a month with her, made food for her and you think you’d come back and do exactly what you did for her for me. Nothing new, nothing original, because she received the original thought and I just had the idea of something you had already done.” I took in a deep breath.
“Last night, you forced yourself on me, Kieran.”
He shook his head lightly, reaching towards me. “That’s not what happened.”
“That’s exactly what happened. You used your alpha abilities and made me submit for you, make me want you. Because the thought of me with another man was too suffocating but you have been with another woman!” I yelled out, my heart aching.
The back of my eyes stung with tears threatening to fall. I was tired of crying. I didn’t want him to be a reason I cried anymore. He was silly, he was undeserving of my tears,
Serena…”

then walked away. This time, he did not stop me
Outside I hailed a cab, put my bag in, and sat down.
“To the Cartridge mansion please.” I leaned back into the seat.
Going back home meant risking he would suddenly show up. I told him I was going to see my parents so he wouldn’t know exactly where I was and before he could think of Elan, it would be a while.
The driver pulled up at the gates.
The guards let me in perhaps due to the fact that I was a regular face. I walked from the gate down to the front door and placed a
knock.
The door opened after a few minutes and the butler came out. “Mrs Thawthorne. I did not realize you had an appointment today.”
I nodded my head. “I know. I’m sorry for the hour. I just need somewhere to stay tonight. I won’t be any trouble.”
Behind him, Bertram walked forward with a stoic expression. “This is a Lunaridge household,” he said. “It is not appropriate for the wife of the Thawthorne Alpha to be staying under this roof.”
