FREYA POV

Today my kids should be coming home! My mother and Jessi too of course, but I never really understood how painful it is to be a mom away from her kids for so long. It’s only been a couple of days I guess, but still. It’s the longest I’ve been away from them and I’m not liking it.
I woke up happy, and sore. Colt was apparently so gracious of how I handled the vamp stuff with Sky that he made sure to express his gratitude. Over, and over, and over, and over again. I passed right out last night. Er, um, early this morning I should say. I went down to get some coffee from the kitchen and realized that the pack and the bears must have continued to party after Colt and I left for the night, as there were still a few of them passed out on the couches and chairs in the lounge area.
I suddenly became shy at the idea that they might have heard us last night. That was quickly washed away when I was greeted by Levi. Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever been concerned if any of the pack house residents hear us.
“I got a link from Jessi, she went up a ways to link me and find out if everything was okay and then she said she was going back to get the kids and your mom, then they’re heading up.” He said, very bubbly sounding.
“You seem very excited that they’re coming home. said, smiling mischievously.
I’m pretty sure I just saw him blush. “Well, I guess I just haven’t been away from Jessi and Jaxson
for this long before.”
I laughed, “I understand, Levi. I am excited for my kids to come back too. It’s a nice break but it’s
been too long now I’m ready to have them back.”
Eunice and Colt walked in to get a cup of coffee. Eunice looked a little nervous for some reason.
“Eunice, are you okay?” I asked, instantly fearing that he had another horrible vision.
“Actually…” He cleared his throat, “I was hoping to gain a meeting with you two today.”
He surely seems nervous. As if my thoughts were aloud, Colt asked, “It’s another vision, isn’t it?”
Levi understood the cue and walked out of the kitchen leaving us alone with Eunice.
He cleared his throat, “I understand your concerns about human and werewolf, um, relationships.” He shifted his stance, further showing his nerves.
I’m pretty sure I know where this is going already. Chay and Eunice have been very close since he’s been living here. Her fated mate wasn’t part of this pack and when he found out she was part of this pack he rejected her. She’s gone many years without a mate since.

“I have been with Chay for quite some time now, and it would seem that we’ve conceived a child.”
He came right out with it, and the look on his face shows me that he really expected that we’d be
livid about this.
“Eunice, my friend, we’ve been aware of your relationship with Chay probably since it began. If we
had a problem with it, we would have let you know long before this could have been a possibility.” Colt said as he walked over and shook Eunice’s hand. “Congratulations, my friend. I guess this means you’re forever stuck here with us.” Colt laughed.
Immediately, the nerves on Eunice’s face faded and was replaced with happiness.
“Oh Eunice, I can’t believe you’d think we would be upset by this! After everything you’ve done for
us and our pack, I’m pretty sure you’re just a part of this pack. None of us think of you as anything other than one of us.” I said, giving him a giant hug.
“Now, where’s Chay? I want to congratulate her!” I asked.
“That’s kind of how we figured this out, she’s having some morning sickness and can’t seem to
hold anything down.” He looked over to Colt. “There’s not going to be anything wrong with the
child, is there?”
I looked at Colt wondering how he’d answer this.
“Well, not necessarily. I guess it depends on whether you’d consider being a werewolf as something wrong.” Colt said, in a lighthearted tone meaning to sound funny.
“Actually, that’s a fair question Eunice. I don’t necessarily think there’d be anything wrong, but I would advise to maybe have her get checked out by Sasha. If the baby is a wolf, then there shouldn’t be any issue. Her body is meant to carry children for about six months. However, humans take longer to form in the womb. I haven’t heard of this being an issue before but check all boxes on this.” I advised sternly. I hate being the one to say that, but I would feel much worse if they didn’t take the extra steps to check on this and something was wrong.
“Is it possible to get someone else to man the kitchen today so she can get checked? I didn’t think about that, and I was only asking because I can’t seem to get any visions from the goddess about the child. It’s been making me worry. Having Sasha check her out would make me feel much
better.” He asked,
“Oh of course Eunice, I’ll get someone else to step in for her today.” Colt answered.
Eunice disappeared quickly out of the kitchen. Colt turned to look at me with a very disappointed
look on his face.
“What? Why are you looking at me like that?” I asked him.
“I don’t think you should have put that idea in their heads. It’s one thing if Sasha says it to them because then she’d have that concern but now, they’re going to be worried about that.” He stated.

I thought a moment, “I guess you’re right. However would feel like crap if I had known the risk like
that and didn’t say something to them and something bad happened. I know it’s not about my feelings in this, but I was given the chance to know the risks in my pregnancy and think every
mother should at least know them.”
He shrugged his shoulders and took a drink of his coffee. We sat there in silence for a minute and
then Colt said, “I forgot to tell him our custom is to marry her now.”
I laughed, “Let’s let them have today then you can go all fatherly mode on him and make him marry her.” I sat my empty cup down and rolled my eyes, laughing at how silly he sounds.
“I’m going to go get ready for our babies. Levi said that Jessi linked him a while ago that they’re coming up.” I said, excited to see my babies.
