FREYA POV

So, there we were. Walking through all our pack, pretending to be in trance and hoping that none of
them were told to tell these guys if we start walking through.
“Isn’t that why we took their kids, sir? Didn’t we want them to come so we’d use them as the
sacrifice?” The one asked the leader.
“Yes, but then these guys fell into my trap much sooner. I have them here, tranced and ready. That
***** Colt and his b***h Luna already came and got their kids. They’re long gone now.” He chuckled
maniacally, “They left their mutts here, so first thing I’m going to do when this curse is lifted is bite
each and every one of them.”
Anger boiled through me. That’s my pack he’s talking about. I could feel how Colt felt, and I
thought I was angry.
We made it to the row of people behind the front of the group. Being so close to the vamps made
this feel so much more intense. I could smell some of the ingredients they were putting inside the
bowl for the spell. The herbs, bloods, woods, bones, and more.
my kids
I had this deranged feeling like I needed to rip one of them apart. I can’t explain it. I know
are safe, I know that Colt and I can get our pack out of here, but I have such a deep seeded hate
towards their kind that I just can’t help but want their heads on a stake.
“It’s time.” The leader said to the other.
He opened a very old–looking book and set it down on the table as two people came up and began reading from it. I think they were witches. I looked over to Colt to see if he was ready, but he was gone. I started looking all over trying to figure out where the f**k he went off to without signaling
me that it was go time.
Finally, I spotted him. He was up behind the leader. With his machete, he took a large swing back and swung it forward with all his might, taking the vamp’s head completely off. I jumped forward and did the same with the other vamp that was up there with him quickly.
The witches didn’t stop their chant. The other wolves still just stood there looking at each other,
like nothing had changed.
Behind me I heard Ash, “What do we need to do, Alpha?”
I looked over at Colt who was still trying to find out why they’re not stopping. They all still appear to be in a trance of some kind. I looked around and I didn’t notice anyone else there who could still
have a hold over them.
“Do we kill the witches?” Sky asked. I shook my head back at her.

“They’re in a trance we can’t just kill them. They’re not appearing to be willing participants in this.” I
answered.
Before we knew what was happening the two wolves took out a blade and stabbed themselves in
the stomach area.
“NO!” I yelled.
I’m confused at this point. That Lilith b***h from before said that Colt and I had to be willing.
There’s no way she could possibly mean that they were mind controlled into being participants.
Maybe she was blowing smoke?
Colt grabbed the book from one of the witches trying to stop them. It didn’t work.
Suddenly, you could feel a huge gust of wind out of nowhere and the lights around us went out.
There was a weird sense of power that rushed through us. Bjorn and Koda came up to us with Sky and started pulling us away.
“We need to go!” They yelled at us.
I watched the witches pull out of their trance. The job was done. The curse was broken.
We turned and ran as fast as we could. We shifted and took the groups of bears in human form on
our backs. We had to get away from there. We had to get away from everywhere. If the curse is
broken, hell is about to break loose all over the place and this is not where we want to be.
As it is, this is too close to home. This isn’t what we were hoping to accomplish. On the way home
all I could do was replay what happened in my head. What could we have done differently? What
did we miss? Nothing I thought about answering the questions.
When we got home, I felt like we needed to address the pack, to just say something. All I could do
was stand there though. Nothing I thought to say sounded enough for what just happened.
Colt, being Alpha, clearly thought the same as I did
He called everyone to attention.
Clearing his throat he began, “Look guys, I don’t really know what to say. We got our pack
members back, so that’s good.” He shook his head in disbelief. “I can’t honestly tell you how what
just happened actually happened. We thought we did everything. It just turns out they did
everything more.”
He paused a moment, “I don’t know what this means. I don’t know what’s going to happen next. All
I know is that we’re going to have to protect ourselves.” He looked to my dad and to Sky, “Protect
each other. We’re going to be at war with these vampires now that they’re not bound by the night. What does that mean for us? I have no clue. We will make weapons, we will armor up, we will
create traps, we will get creative, and we will make sure our pack is safe.”

Everyone began to cheer. You could tell everyone was worried about this.
Levi walked up beside me, “So I take it you guys were right in going back?”

I nodded, “If we hadn’t, they were going to go around and bite each of our pack members. We at least won that battle of getting them out of there safely.”
Now, it’s time to face the harsh reality those vampires are going to create. For a lack of better terminology here, I think we’re officially in the beginning of the apocalypse.
