The Big Sky Alpha novel Chapter 141

  1. It’s upon us

COLT POV

*Three Years Later*

Alpha, the rogues are trying to press our borders. The vampires are pushing them further and

further up the mountain.” Levi said as he walked into my office.

Reinforce the walls, increase guards, and double down on keeping them out of our territory. We

had to build the wall around our borders, might as well make the best of them.I answered him. He

turned quickly and walked out.

It’s been three years since those f*****g vamps broke their damned curse. Now they’re out roaming during the day, feeding on every human they see and biting werewolves, tormenting and killing them. Even the rogues are afraid of them, and I’ve never known a rogue to be afraid of anything. I always assumed a rogue was fearless because they didn’t have a human side anymore.

The bears have stuck by our side. We found out that the vampire bites are not deadly to them. We also learned that their blood is nothing to the vamps. Vamps don’t really seem to care much for the bears at all, which helps us quite a bit.

So far, they’ve not come to our borders. We did end up having to build a wall though, because of

the damn rogues coming in and causing issues. We have made some vamp killing weapons. We’ve

made sure every person in the pack old enough to use them has the knowhow and is well

equipped.

These days you can’t walk around pack grounds without seeing everyone armed to the teeth.

Some families have even been teaching their younger children how to handle the weapons.

Freya has been working on making herself stronger. If it comes down to having to abandon our

home, she will have two fouryearolds she has to cart around. Hopefully I would be with her if it

were to come to that, but something tells me that if it’s coming down to abandoning our home

then I’ve likely fallen.

I know she’s been worried about her family. Her mom, dad, brother and his kids haven’t visited in

over three years. She fears the worst, especially since they’re in a city. From what we’ve been told

by others who’ve wandered up this area trying to find an escape, the vamps began with large

cities, then smaller ones, then smaller ones, then towns.

As of right now, we’re expecting that some have begun coming around this way. They’re at least

getting close enough to spook the rouges. There are so many vamps now they basically cover

everywhere. We’re not sure if there’s places they’ve not hit. Whether it’s just the US or if they’ve

taken over the rest of the world too. It seems quick to be in the middle of nowhere Montana in just

three years though. I mean, I guess I know there were some around this general area when the

I’ve been having a hard time sleeping lately because of this. I have dreams of them coming here

and massacring my pack. I’ve dreamt of watching my family be killed by those beasts. The best

thing we have going for us is our new weaponry that we’ve created, and the fact that mine and

Freya’s mate bond is so strong they can’t mind control us when we’re together.

Freya had a little visit with the moon goddess about a year ago when we started getting word about how bad things have gotten. She was able to get some tips from the goddess and some moon dust. Freya said that visiting the moon goddess was different, like she was saying goodbye to Freya.

She tried to go back to see her, but when she got there the goddess never showed up. This has happened a few times since the last time she saw her. I’m guessing she doesn’t want anything to do with the hell breaking lose down here.

I can’t say I blame her. Having to watch one of her creations destroying the others has to be frustrating, probably quite heartbreaking.

AlphaLevi mind linked me. I need you to come here, quickly.

On the way.I responded.

I knew he’s been monitoring the wall by the river, working on reinforcing it like I told him to. I went there as quickly as I could, which didn’t take long because I was just in my office.

When I got there, he called down to me from up in a tree.

Alpha, we’ve got company.He said.

I climbed up to take a look. There were clear signs of a large group of people in the woods around us. It looked like they were getting ready to cross the river, but they were trying to figure out how. I could clearly see a few of them, they looked like they were trying to figure out if they were being

watched.

After a few more minutes of watching them, someone walked over to one of them and began talking. I recognized him.

Let them in.” I ordered.

Alpha, who are they?Levi asked.

Blood moon.I answered.

I jumped down and helped open the gates that we’ve pretty much shut damn near permanently. It took us some time to get the gates open.

Once we finally got them opened, I stepped out from behind our wall and said loudly, Alpha

He stepped out from behind the trees and began crossing the river, followed by a group of people.

Once he got across the river to me he walked up and shook my hand. There was no smile on his face, there was no sense of his normal demeanor. He looked changed.

Alpha, are you okay?I asked.

He shook his head, It’s bad down there Colt.He really looked like he was about to completely

break down.

I looked at the people coming in behind him. Some recognized as his warriors; some I didn’t recognize but they all smelt like wolves. However, I didn’t notice someone in this group.

Harland, where’s Misty?I asked him.

The look on his face said it all. How the hell am I supposed to tell Freya?
