As I showered, I began wondering if this bliss feeling I was having lately was actually bliss. Maybe
I’ve just been numb. How is it that Colt could be telling me something so important like the rogues
attacking our walls and I can’t even recall him talking to me about it once?
I know he’s not lying to me, though I surely accused him of it. I just don’t understand how it’s possible. I remember everything from the past few weeks, there’s not been one time I can recall him talking to me about the rogues attacking. I remember talking about the bunker, I remember talking to him about my father and Luke doing some hunting, I even remember laughing with him
at dinner quite a few times.
How am I not remembering him telling me this one thing? Have I just blacked those parts out? Am I so numb to it all that I just don’t care, and I’m tuning out when he starts talking about it?
Colt deserves better than this.
I was just thinking that I needed to get out of the shower and find him to talk to him about this, but
then I heard him walk in.
He didn’t come to the shower like I had expected. Instead, he just stood at the counter. Part of me was quite upset with that, and I have no idea why. He apologized to me, like it was actually his fault that I wasn’t remembering him telling me about the rogues. He made it his fault, likely just so he didn’t have to fight with me about it, but still I was a bit shocked by that.
Not only did the man apologize for something I’m pretty sure he has no need to be apologizing for, but then he came up with an idea to get us all away from the stress to see if that helps us. He said
my father it would be good for all of us, as a family. The idea of fishing sounded interesting. I know took me a time or two, I enjoyed it then, but I was just a kid. Fishing did sound fun though, especially with the kids.
I thought back to my first fishing trip with my dad. We were out what seemed like forever, and he got a bite. He looked over at me and asked me if I wanted to reel it in. So, he handed it to me, and I did. The feeling of pride, accomplishment, happiness, and adrenaline is a feeling I’ll never forget. Gosh I hope the kids get to catch something and feel that feeling. They’re five now. I think something like this would be great for them, and they’re old enough they’ll remember that feeling
forever.
I fell right to sleep after that. The excitement of what awaits tomorrow passed through and took me into a peaceful sleep I so desperately needed. I didn’t even need the trip apparently.

+25 Ports The next morning, we woke up and went down with the kids and had a good breakfast. Colt asked Chay to pack us a good snack bag for our day. As we were eating Colt told the kids we were going to go have a special family day. They were very excited.
I’ve walked through a nice share of this beautiful land, but where Colt was taking us today, I’ve never been.
He said it’s just a small little lake, more like a pond. He said that it’s where his father took them. He has no idea if there’s even any fish in it but as he reminded me, the day is about the time being spent together and relaxing.
He wasn’t wrong. This is a small little lake. However, it is absolutely beautiful. This time of year, as the winter is passing us by and the warmth of spring is setting in colors are everywhere.
It’s much too cold to be swimming, but with some warmer clothes it’s nice to just sit out here and watch as the animals begin to move around.
“What do you think?” Colt asked, bringing me out of my admiration.
“It’s perfect.” I said with a big smile on my face.
“Dad! Dad! I wanna fish first!” Hunter hollered as he tugged on Colt’s pant leg.
“No fair! I want to be first!” Kira started complaining.
Llaughed as Colt just looked down at them.
“We’re all fishing together. But, if it makes you happy, dad can get one pole set up and mom can
get the other pole set up that way you’re able to start at the same time.” I said.
That got a good cheer out of them, so Colt and I sat down with a pole and began getting to work.
“Do you know how to set up a line, babe?” He asked.
“I’m not helpless you know.” I said, smiling.
“You’re anything but helpless my love.” He responded.
It turns out the pack has a bunch of fishing stuff they’ve made to make it easier on us, thank goddess.
After a few moments we both had a stick pole set up with line, hooks, make shift bobbers, and worms that someone apparently dug up and had ready for us this morning.
“Ash.” Colt said, “Had to be Ash. He was the only one I told about doing something with you guys
today. Though, I didn’t mention fishing to him.”
“Whoever it was, did me a huge favor because no part of me wants to dig around here and find any.

Since Hunter is going to be the next Alpha, Colt usually takes Hunter when we’re teaching things
like combat or handling knives, or anything that might be taken as an Alpha type of task. So, I got
to teach Kira.
Now, I’m just hoping that I can actually remember how to do it. Granted, when I went fishing it was with an actual pole from the store with this neat little button that helped me be able to cast properly. So, I’m not entirely confident here.
I asked Kira to let me attempt a cast, just so I could make sure I remembered how. She laughed at me but let me mess around for a minute so I could figure it out. Thankfully, it was not nearly as
hard as I made myself think it was going to be.
After a couple of absolutely horrible and pathetic excuses of casts, I figured it out. Then I proudly
went to show Kira.
