A few nights ago, we had the feast for everyone. Honestly, it was great. What was even better from that night was seeing Keegan out there with his new mate, Grace.
On top of hearing that the Goddess is still somewhere out there giving people mates, we heard how Grace has been helping Keegan. When Keegan lost his first mate and his children in a horrific way at the hands of the vamps, he lost it. We were all rather surprised that he wasn’t one of those who killed themselves from the pain of losing their mate. Though, his pain was more than just his
mate, he lost his babies too.
After hearing about Grace helping Keegan with the problems he was going through, it made me think about the rest of the wolves here that are going through similar mental battles. Maybe if she could help Keegan, she could help others. And, if she can help then maybe there are more here that can help with this. I just need to speak with her and figure out how it is that she was able to
help him.

It would seem that Levi had the same idea as I did. Though, he must have known about Grace helping Keegan before I did because when I told him to send someone to Sasha to help with the healing hut he decided to send Grace.
I headed over to the healing hut to talk to her about how she helped Keegan. I haven’t talked to Freya about my idea yet, just in case this doesn’t end up working out the way I’m hoping.
Thankfully, when I got there Grace was already outside. It looks like she was getting ready to leave.
“Hey Grace. Can I talk with you for a moment?” I asked as I walked up, catching her before she walked away.
She turned to look at me with a smile, “Alpha? You want to talk to me?” She asked.
I caught up to her, “Yeah I was hoping to pick your brain a little bit, if that’s okay?”
She looked at me with confusion. “What could I possibly have to offer our Alpha?” She asked.
“Well, you worked quite a miracle with Keegan. I was hoping you could tell me how you did it.” I told
her.
She got a worried look on her face, “Am I in trouble? I know he’s Luna’s brother and I told him he needed to tell her a long time ago, but he didn’t want to until…” She started rambling.
“Oh no.” I chuckled, “You’re not in trouble Grace. Freya is very happy seeing Keegan happy again.
Or, really just seeing him again.”

She sighed, “Oh, okay good.”
“So, can you tell me what you did? We have a lot of people that have arrived at our pack that are experiencing a lot of the same things Keegan did. The problem we’re having is that we’re not sure how to help them. So, I was hoping that if you were able to help Keegan then maybe you could help me understand how to help the others.” I explained.
She smiled, “This might take a little bit. We’re probably going to want to sit down.”
We walked to the side of the healing hut where Sasha has a couple of benches set up and we sat
and started talking.
“Look, Alpha, helping Keegan was not easy. I honestly can’t say that I would have ever tried if I hadn’t been mated to him.” She began.
“I would have assumed as much.” I said.
She sighed, “He told me he was going to reject me. The idea of being rejected hurt, but he was hurting. He didn’t know what to do when he realized that the Goddess gave him another mate. Not to mention so soon after losing his first mate.”

“How did all of this end up working out?” I asked, trying to push past all that. Not to be heartless or anything, but I am really just after how she helped him, not why.
“It took him a little bit, but the more he saw me around the more he decided not to reject me. He felt bad though, he didn’t want me to have to deal with him. He’s alpha blood though, so I can’t
reject him. So, I asked if it’s something I could help with.”
This, this is where I want to go here.
“He told me he didn’t think he could be helped. I was determined though. It took a little time, but after a while he finally started opening up to me about what happened with his family. Those horrible damn vampires and what they did to his family…” She made a disgusted look, “They deserve to burn in hell for all eternity.”
She took a deep breath, relaxing herself. I could tell the memory of what he described to her was working her up. I imagined it was bringing up her own past trauma.
“Anyways, that’s when I realized that even though what I went through with the vampires, with River, was nothing like what Keegan went through it was still something in common we had.” She
said.
“It was hard at first, but the more he opened up to me the more I was able to help him actually grieve. You see, he didn’t get to grieve them, Alpha. It all happened, they had to rush out of there to survive, and then they made the journey here still trying to survive. Then when he got here, he was

I was beginning to understand what she was saying. She had a past grievance with these blood suckers, and she could relate to him. Maybe that’s what we need. Some sort of group for everyone to open up about what they went through. Maybe not quite a group, men don’t do well talking in groups about their feelings or things they’ve gone through.
I sat up and asked her, “Grace, what do you think about having a couple of people designate to sit down with people still struggling and trying to help them get to a point where they might be able to prep for battle?”
She gave me a concerned look, “You want them to battle? Battle who exactly?”
“The vamps.” I said as blatantly as I could.
“Look, they’re going to attack at some point it’s inevitable. We’re doing our best to try to prepare our pack so that everyone will be safe, but we need the warriors. Unfortunately, there’s a nice chunk of them that are going through what Keegan was going through. If the vamps come back, I need them to be able to fight and not freeze up or just run away. Do you understand?” I asked her.
She thought for a moment, then she answered, “I think that would be the first step, I guess. I just don’t know how quickly we’d be able to handle all of them though.”
