COLT POV
As Freya and I walked the wall for the evening like we usually do, the uneasy feeling grew.
We both had a really hard time with this. Every sound had us jumping. By the end of the wall by the pack house we began feeling like we were being crazy. That was until we got the mind link.
“They’re approaching the front gates!” Ash sent out the mind link. The issue with the mind link is that it doesn’t reach everyone, a Big Sky link only reaches Big Sky.
I linked back to him, “Alert everyone! Have someone around you from each pack link their pack!” I
commanded.
Just as we were rounding the pack house toward the front, we saw Jessi running out with Jaxson and our kids. We ran up and hugged and kissed them and watched as they ran toward the bunker. I looked over at Freya and could see the fear in her eyes. Then the fear quickly dissipated from her
features and was replaced with rage.
We headed inside the pack house to the kitchen. The pack house kitchen, the healing hut, Harland’s hut, Damon’s hut, the front wall, and the bunker all have some moon dust so we can make sure everyone gets a drink with a small dash of the dust in it. We learned before that the dust is what makes it so they cannot use their creepy mind control tactics on us. For many, this alone was enough to make them willing to fight against the vampires this time around.
Our pack was blessed because of Freya, we had this in our battle with the vamps. The other packs didn’t have this when the vamps attacked so their mind control worked on them. With that not being a fear factor this time around the people felt more confident in possibly beating the vamps.
“We can see many of them, Alpha. They’re not quite at the gates, but they’re close.” Ash notified
“Has everyone at the wall gotten their dust?” I asked.
“Yes Alpha, we’re ready.” He responded. “Everyone’s been notified. They’re getting in position and making sure everyone is getting their dust.”
I looked over at Freya, “Be ready as soon as Ash tells you they’ve broken through to shield as many people as you can, Harland will be shielding as many as he can. With both of you I hope you can
shield all the warriors.”
She looked back at me with that fiery glow in her eyes that I haven’t seen in some time now, “I am
ready.”

We headed to our post. Harland and Damon had their stations in separate areas from us. This was
planned so that if any of the Alphas were to be killed in this battle then at least it wouldn’t be all of
us at once. Freya’s idea, she said it was her hope that at least one Alpha would remain for those in
the bunker or any survivors when this was over.
I hated it, but she was right. I hated the idea of my best friend, or her father being killed. Keegan admitted that he wasn’t ready to take the Alpha role yet, but he did say that if he was the last one
standing out of all of us then he’d take his place.
As we got in position, time seemed to slow down as we anticipated the battle to begin. There was
nothing, for what seemed like an hour.
“What are they doing?” I linked Ash.
“They’re spreading out, they’re talking. I can’t make out all of it, they’re talking just quietly enough that I can only make out a little of it. It sounds like they’re making a plan.” He responded.
“Have you identified a leader?” I asked.
“Actually, that’s the weird thing here. It doesn’t look like there’s just one leader. It looks like they’re all just talking together. No one in particular appears to be calling any shots.” He said.
I looked over to Freya. I relayed to her what he was saying. She looked as concerned as I did. That would mean one of two things. One, this isn’t going to be the only attack. Two, they no longer have leaders and they’re all just on one giant killing rampage through the country, possibly world at this
point.
Absolutely none of this made me feel much better about any of this. However, like Freya pointed out earlier, this isn’t the time to look or act like there’s any doubt that we can pull through this. The pack needs confident leaders.
“They’re at the wall, get ready.” Ash linked to the pack.
Freya got herself ready. Within a few moments Ash announced that they’d set the wall on fire.
That was a plan we were prepared for. It takes longer for them to break through a burning wall. As much as vampires like to think fire is their friend it’s just as harmful to them as it is to us so they will wait until there’s a clear point to get through.
Though, this action does tell me that there doesn’t appear to be any actual leader in their group. It’s a free for all at this point. They’re just trying to wipe us all out. The downfall of this, they’re going to be much more brutal than they would be if they had a leader giving them direction. A group of blood sucking devils with no real direction other than death and destruction means they’re unpredictable.

It took time, but we got the word from Ash, “They’re through!”
I turned to Freya; she was already getting to work.

Within seconds everyone around us had the slight white tinge around them. I could only hope that everyone in the pack had the shield up. I knew Ash did, because I didn’t hear anything otherwise which meant that the front gate was covered. So far, our plan was working.
Stashed all around the pack grounds are weapons that we’ve been spending all this time making. There are swords, bow and arrows, spears, there’s every possible weapon we could come up with to kill one of these bastards. Our goal was to make it so that there wouldn’t be anyone on the grounds without a weapon.
There’s even weapons in the bunker, in case the worst were to happen.
