The Big Sky Alpha novel Chapter 45

FREYA POV

The next few days were pretty much the same. The haze kept hitting three times a day now, Eunice has been helping me and my dad figure out our abilities. So far we’ve figured them all out except healing and communicating with the goddess.

Colt has been planning most of our wedding and wrapping up everything for the Luna ceremony. My mom has been spending her days putting pieces together about where to go to find any of these infinity witches that might still be out there.

The battles have been fun getting to watch every night to end the night.

It’s been two weeks since I got here, and so much has happened in these two weeks that when I look back on it I feel like it’s been months. I’ve barely spent any time with my best friend, I’ve hardly seen my brother but that might be a good thing. Since Aiden died his mate has been approved to be with him.

I haven’t heard much about Jasmine but from the little I’ve heard she’ll remain locked up with regular visits from her haze partner so she doesn’t go insane. Colt said that he wants to leave her punishment up to me because he feels he would go too lenient since he feels responsible for her actions that caused this mess.

I’ve decided she’ll stay locked up until we can fix it, at least I hope we can fix it. Besides that, I have no idea how to punish for this. It’s a unique scenario. At least getting through the wedding, the ceremony, and everything we need to do to fix this problem will give me time to figure it out. The wedding is scheduled to take place in three days and the day after is the Luna’s ceremony.

After I work with Eunice today I’m taking Jessi to the market area to see the lady that makes the clothing. We’re going to pick out her maid of honor dress and my wedding dress. We also have to pick out my Luna ceremony dress. I’ve decided since we’re already going to be there I’m going to go ahead and get some pants, I’ve missed pants and I can’t believe it’s taken this long for me to get some.

Working with Eunice today was so exhausting. I know he said that it would be taxing, but the more we work on trying to get these abilities under control the weaker I feel. I’ve been eating my regular three meals a day and snacking all day long.

I feel like I’m always eating. I haven’t been drinking mead at all, and my water intake is feeling rather ridiculous. He says it’s completely normal though, according to the scroll. It says that after mastering all of them some would sleep a day or two to recover. Frankly, that sounds amazing right now.

I’ve almost gotten the healing down, I can handle a paper cut, but I can’t quite get a knife wound down yet. My father’s making more progress than me on that front.

“I’m thinking you’re in your head Freya.” Eunice told me after my father left for the day.

“Why would you think that?” I asked.

“Well, for starters you’re younger than your father so this shouldn’t be wearing you down as much as it is when it’s barely exhausting him.” he said.

“Not to mention, your mate bond should be helping with this too. The scroll says that stronger mate bonds help your healing, meaning the exhaustion, again, shouldn’t be getting to you like this.” he just looked at me very puzzled.

“I imagine there can only be a handful of reasons it would be affecting you…” he paused and just lightly finished his thought very slowly, “like this.”

I watched him waiting to see if he would share his thought process to the class, but he just shook his head and decided we were done for the day.

“I think maybe some rest will help, and maybe your day with Jessi will help you feel refreshed.” he smiled at me.

I went back to shower before going with Jessi and the haze hit for the second time today. Thankfully, Colt and I were just waking up when it hit the first time. Something about passionate sex first thing in the morning really makes the day seem brighter.

After some exhilarating afternoon haze sex with my mate, I was ready to go spend some time being a normal woman about to be getting married with my best friend. Maybe Eunice is right, I’ve been go go go since we arrived and I’ve barely had any time to paint, hang out with anyone, or even just go get myself some d**n pants!

We were everything I thought we’d be trying on dresses. Weddings are cherished in this pack so they always have many dresses on hand for such occasions. We tried on dresses and danced around to non-existent music and we made sure to do all the twirls.

When I put on one of the dresses though, I knew with everything in me that it was the dress was walking down the aisle in. Jessi knew it too the second she saw me in it. She said that it looked like my skin was actually glowing. Jessi said I still had to try on the rest of the dresses though, she said it’s bad luck to leave any without trying them on. I think she just wanted to play dress up as long as possible.

I don’t have a huge wedding court with a bunch of bridesmaids, Jessi is it. So, I just let her pick out whatever she wanted to wear and whatever color besides white.

She chose this beautiful olive green silk dress that draped off her shoulders and hugged her curves all the way down to her feet with a nice conservative slit down the leg that only went to about her knee.

It was perfect.

I asked the lady that owned the shop where all these dresses come from, she said they’ve either been donated or made by her with donated fabrics and jewels.

Now for the Luna ceremony, trying on dresses for that was a little more on the difficult side. I had to ask Amber, the owner of the clothing shop, what traditional attire looked like for the Big Sky Luna’s. She said that the Luna ceremony is a big deal, very dressy. She said that men will show up in suits or tuxes and women will be in classy gowns. She said it reminded her of a story she heard one time about a princess dancing at a ball.

She brought out about ten dresses that she said made her think princess at a ball. She wasn’t wrong either. One was a super puffy dress, I felt like I was swimming when I put it on. A couple were jeweled up more than anything I’d ever wear.

The dress I chose had to represent me, as the Luna I want to be.
