FREYA POV
When I woke up I recognized where I was immediately. How I got here though, that’s my mystery. Last time I was here I was laying in the infirmary, but the last thing I remember is falling asleep with Colt.
“Hello my child.” I heard her beautiful voice and turned to see the one and only moon goddess.
“What am I doing here?” I asked her in such shock. “I’ve been trying so hard to get back here but my abilities are draining me so badly.”
“That’s only because of your current condition, my girl. In a few months they won’t drain you anymore.” She responded.
“Why would it take me a few months to heal from an infection? I’m a wolf I should be healing much faster than that.” I can’t figure out why an infection is clinging to me like this.
She laughed. “I don’t understand what’s so funny about an infection.” I responded feeling a bit annoyed that she finds it funny.
“My child, you’re not infected by anything. You’re just using all of your energy and nutrition in your body to care for all of you.” All of me? I don’t understand.
All of us, maybe she means all of my pack. “Goddess, I hope I’m not being forward, but I do need help from you in order to take care of all of us as a species. I need…” She cut me off.
“I know child, I’ve been waiting for you. When you go back they’ll be in vials under your pillow.” she waved her hand dismissively.
She turned to look at me and like she remembered something she goes, “Oh and the witch you need to speak with in order to find the other witches to cast the spell is Belladonna. She’s the daughter of the witch Jasmine killed. She’s an original bloodline and strong enough to do the spell with only 2 other witches with her.” she had a smile on her face as she spoke of Belladonna.
“Have you met her before?” I couldn’t help but ask, she looked happy talking about her.
“I have, she’s a very talented witch and reminds me of one of my original witches that was killed many hundreds of years ago.” she reminisced.
“Where can we find her? And are you sure she’ll help us since we’re wolves?” I asked concerned.
“She’s waiting for you, she knows I’m sending you to her. Your mother’s already certain on where to find her, but you and Colt need to be there with your mother and your father, the oracle and all of the ingredients.” she said as she began to sit down.
Hadn’t realized we made it to the lake we sat at before. I sat there with her just thinking.
“I wonder what life is going to be like when the spell is cast and we’re free of the never ending haze.” I wondered out loud.
“There will always be situations you have to face. As a Luna, those situations will sometimes be pretty easy, sometimes they’ll be bloody, sometimes you’ll brave through them and sometimes you will cling to your Alpha for dear life. The important thing is that you and your Alpha remember that you’re one now and you must protect your pack together, come all.” She said sounding very motherly with advice on our future.
“How will I know what to do?” I asked, the fear in my voice evident as I know there’s no hiding anything from her. “What if I make the wrong choices?”
She placed her hand on my shoulder, “My child, being a Luna is a lot like being a mother. Sometimes the choice is blatantly obvious, sometimes you have to go with your gut. If you worry about being a good one though, then you’ll probably be a great one.” She giggled, “It’s not just you though, it’s you, Stella, Colt and Max. Start working on getting used to it being all of you leading the pack and all of you leading your family because you all have something to offer for both.”
“Thank you for giving me Colt.” I said as I remembered these past weeks. “He tortured himself for me, and he’s been everything I’ve needed.”
“My child, that man will be everything you and your pups need. He’s a good man, a little troubled with his past, but he’s a strong and devoted Alpha. You’re going to need that.” She said, with a very warning tone in her voice.
“Will he still love me like this forever? Even after the spell is cast?” I hesitantly asked. I know he loves me, but part of me worries that one day he’ll decide I’m not enough for him anymore.
“Stop thinking of him that way child. He’s made mistakes as everyone is allowed, but he loves you more than you can fathom. He’s only going to continue loving you more from here. In a few months that man will give you the beating heart straight from his chest if you asked him to.” she said, and there she goes again with that few months crap.
I could feel myself beginning to fade away from her so I asked quickly, “What’s going to happen in a few months, Goddess?” and her smile grew big as she giggled.
“Oh my sweet Freya, you still don’t understand?” she said but her voice was growing softer.
All I could see was her rubbing her belly like she was… then I woke up.
I sat straight up and placed my hands on my belly. Is that even possible? I’ve only been with him for a few weeks now. There’s no way anyone could know that yet. She’s the goddess though, if I were pregnant I guess she’d know.
It was just a dream right? I wasn’t in a vulnerable state last night when I fell asleep. Wait, she said the vials would be under my pillow so if they’re not there then this is all in my head. I grabbed my pillow and lifted it up quickly.
“What are you doing baby?” Colt asked groggily as he turned over to me in the bed.
I could feel the tears in my eyes. I couldn’t possibly tell you if they were good or bad tears, but as I reached down for the glowing sparkling vials under my pillow I knew one thing for sure.
I’m pregnant.
