FREYA POV
I opened my eyes and Colt was holding me begging me to wake up.
“Thank goddess, are you okay?” he asked me.
“I think so, what happened?” I responded. I wasn’t expecting any of that to happen.
Eunice walked over, “The spell is complete. When they added their blood, giving them immortality, the spell was cast and you were knocked out by the surge of power.”
“Was it just us that was knocked out?” Colt asked.
Belladonna came over and gave us water, “It’s a very powerful spell, I wouldn’t be surprised if all your species were knocked out when it was completed.”
“I feel kind of weird now.” I said as I sat there on the floor.
“Yeah, me too. Almost like a noodle?” he asked as he wobbled his arm.
“Yeah, it’s like a literal weight was just lifted from me.” It was a weird feeling, not a bad one but I guess I wasn’t expecting to feel much of anything after the spell was cast.
“So, what now?” my mom asked.
“Now we just go back to our lives. I would recommend never speaking of this again.” Belladonna said.
“To anyone!” Tabi added.
“Ever!” Raven chimed.
“I owe you a wolf, Belladonna.” I said standing and shaking her hand. “Thank you so much. I’m so sorry about your mother.”
“Let’s just make sure that, or what happened to the witches back then, never happens again.” She said.
“Yes, everyone in this room will take today to the grave.” Colt added.
We grabbed what was ours, said our goodbyes and headed off to go back to the pack. Tomorrow afternoon she will be at the bottom of the mountain where our cars are to collect Jasmine, to get her revenge.
“Are you going to be leaving us now Eunice?” Colt asked as he was driving us back to the mountain.
“Well, I was going to. But I fear you may end up needing me soon.”
“Why would we be needing you?” I asked, feeling like he’s dropping a bomb on us right now. I like him so him staying around is fine to me, he’s a great guy but the way he said that scares.
“I’ve had a vision about an attack.” he said.
I could feel Colt instantly feel angered.
“What kind of attack?” I asked just to make sure we’re on the same page here.
Eunice looked over at me with a grim look, “I do not know who or why at this time. I just know it’s an attack on your pack.”
I looked over to Colt who was white knuckles on the steering wheel and looking like he was ready to kill.
“Well then, I guess you will be staying a while.” I said.
“Who would attack a pack when all the other packs around are already here? Well, the leaders of the packs anyways.” My mother asked.
“Natives. Or maybe rogues.” Colt answered. “If it were me…” Colt began, “I’d do it when everyone was asleep so I’d have a better shot at getting as many pack leaders out of the way as possible.”
Oh, hearing the way he thought about this made me worry. I really hope whoever it is doesn’t think the way he does.
“Do you have any idea when this might be happening, Eunice?” I asked, trying to conceal the worry in my voice.
“The vision I saw was at night, but there was nothing to really indicate the day.” he said with a very apologetic tone.
I could feel several emotions coming from Colt, but he never took his eyes off the road. He clearly was very deep in thought about the possibilities and what needs to happen next.
Getting up the mountain didn’t take much time at all. When we got there my mother pulled me aside.
“Freya, your father and I have shielded you from the horrors of war, I guess I never really thought about the fact you might be a Luna one day.” she said with a sorry look on her face.
“If what the oracle said is true and an attack is coming you need to get prepared.” she warned.
“Mother I’ve been in combat classes all my life, I’ve been training with my abilities. I know I’ve never seen war but I think I’m pretty prepared.” I answered back to her.
“Freya, your father and Luke are going to start working with you daily to ensure that when an attack comes you’re prepared as much as you can because what you know right now is nothing compared to what you should know as Luna.” she said. “Meet them where you’ve been working on your abilities in the morning.”
It’s late now, the battle is probably over, no one from our pack was fighting tonight. We’re on to the betas now and Levi battles tomorrow. I went off to find Colt.
I could sense him near me, I could smell him too but I couldn’t see him. After a moment I could hear him talking with someone.
“No one is to know for now, understood?” he commanded.
“Yes Alpha, but if an attack is coming don’t you think at least her parents should know? Extra protection?” I think the voice is Levi.
“She doesn’t want anyone to know yet and I’m letting her have that decision but I need to know that if I’m not able to be there to protect her you will be.” his voice was riddled with worry.
“Of course Alpha, she’s the number one priority. She’s holding the future leader of this pack, without her our pack has no future.” he said. It’s definitely Levi, I can see them now.
I made my presence known, “I think instead of worrying about protecting me we need to be coming up with a plan on how we can ready our pack for the attack that we know is coming but we have no idea who or what is attacking and we have no clue when it’s coming.” I said.
“Luna, we need you and the baby to be okay. Male or female that baby is going to be a leader and we can’t risk losing either of you.” Levi said, apologetically. Everyone seems to have this tone with me lately.
“I understand Levi, and I obviously don’t want to risk losing my child. However, the leader of a pack can only be the leader of the pack if there’s a pack left to lead though.” I looked over to Colt.
“If we make it to the battles tomorrow without a haze hitting then I’ll be comfortable in knowing it’s over. Then we can inform whoever you wish about the pregnancy. For now, I think we should discuss some kind of round the clock patrol or something.” I said.
Colt chuckled, “Freya baby, there’s always round the clock security. You just can’t see them.” he pointed up. “At all times all around the pack grounds we have guards on watch. They rotate every six hours to make sure no one is sleeping on the job.”
Levi spoke up, “I would feel better if we informed the rest of the warriors of the threat though, just to keep them on high alert.”
