The Big Sky Alpha novel Chapter 76

FREYA POV

I’ve got a bad feeling about today. It’s been weeks since the attack, Colt has interrogated every prisoner and hasn’t gotten any closer to figuring out when they’ll be coming back. All we really know is their chief has gone a bit looney and has some idea that Big Sky took the crow land.

Eunice has visioned another attack, he said his vision showed no signs of when the attack would be other than it being night. Always seems to be night.

This has been driving Colt insane. He went a little too hard on one of the prisoners, they had to pull him away from them for a while. The prisoner has had healers in and out of his cell taking care of him but frankly I don’t really think any of us actually cares if he makes it but one of them dying before we’re ready could make them stop cooperating.

The benefit we have here is that the prisoners have expressed several times that they’re ill prepared for the strength of us shifters.

Thankfully, he’s needed something to take his frustration out on and I’ve been his release. I’ve wanted him so bad that the roughness of him being frustrated when f*****g me has been a very welcome change to him. Though, I don’t like seeing him frustrated. My p***y just greatly enjoys feeling him frustrated.

I’ve been training lighter and lighter lately. I’m still needing the training to keep my stamina up, but I can’t do as much these days. We’re almost a full 3 months in on my 4-6 month pregnancy so not only is my body beginning to ready itself for delivery, but my belly is nice and big. I still have at least a month to go so it’s only going to get bigger, but trying to fight normally for extended periods of time just isn’t happening anymore.

Jessi and my mom took me shopping for baby stuff and just before that Colt surprised me with a special nursery gift.

The two rooms we have for our pups are already built, but they’re equipped with stuff for older kids. So, Colt made cribs! They even have their names engraved on them! Hunter and Kira.

Colt chose Hunter because it means pursuer, strength and adventure. One of the elders said that Hunter is a name for one who is one with nature and has a special connection with the Earth.

I chose Kira because it means lord, beam of light and strong woman. Eunice had a vision of our children when they’re older. For Kira she is going to be an amazing Luna to a pack.

Hunter will be a strong alpha, and won’t turn our pack against our ways.

I’ve been nesting, which means I’ve been spending my down time getting ready for the babies, or making Colt stop whatever he’s doing to f**k me.

“Taking a break from me, huh?” Colt said behind me in the doorway of the room I’m setting up for them to be in until they’re old enough to have their own rooms.

I was going through the clothes for them and putting them in a dresser. “I was actually just going to call you here, but not for that.” I giggled.

“Bummer.” He said with humor. “Guess that means you have a job for me?” He started walking in the room.

“I was actually hoping since you did so amazing on these cribs that you might consider making me a rocking chair?” I turned and smiled innocently at him.

He pretended to make a big deal out of it. He slowly stepped over mock rolling his eyes and sighing deeply, “Gosh, I guess I can do everything. Want me to deliver them too?” He chuckled.

“Actually, that would be pretty awesome!” I laughed wrapping my arms around him and kissing him.

I swear the smallest touch from him makes me wet. Just as soon as my excitement began to come forward Levi came in, “Alpha, the guards on the south border watch are saying they have a small handful of humans asking to speak with you about their tribe members.” Colt stood up straight, kissed me on the cheek and then left with him.

It’s getting dark so I put everything away for the night and went to the kitchen for food.

Eunice came up to me, “Freya you need know…” his words stopped abruptly as a mind link came through.

“South is under attack!”

So, south we go. I turned to leave and I could sort of hear Eunice yelling to me but I couldn’t hear him anymore.

We all had our positions. Colt wanted me by him and since he was already heading down there all I needed to do was catch up.

When I caught up, everyone was in position. We had people on trees, looking like bushes, and anything they could to blend with the forest.

When they came in view, something seemed very strange. They were all young, a lot of them were even women. For this tribe in particular that’s not normal.

“Something’s not right Colt. The crow don’t use women.” I mind linked him since he specifically doesn’t want us talking to anyone.

“He’s just lost his head. Using everyone he can.” He said.

I think he’s letting them get to his head because of how frustrated he has been.

Our pack attacked, just like they were supposed to. I fought by his side, just like he wanted. Though, fight is a very loose term here. I really didn’t do anything except shield the pack.

After just minutes they either ran away or they were caught. This all felt so terribly off. This can’t be the attack. This must be a distraction, this was too easy, I know they’re human but it’s not the way to handle an attack. No one was in any real danger in our pack,

Something else is in the works and whatever it is we just fell for the ploy.
