COLT POV
“Aaaaahhhhhh!” Freya hollered as another contraction hit. Her mother drenched another sponge in the bowl of cold water she has and rang it out.
“Good job baby, keep breathing.” Misty coached as she placed the damp sponge on Freya’s forehead, blotting it down her face and around her neck and chest. She’s trying to keep her cool.
Freya has been having pretty heavy contractions for the past few hours now. Thankfully, she got a good full night of sleep. However, about a half hour ago she came down with a fever which has been making Sasha feel worried about what’s to come. Not that I need to say it, but Sasha being worried about it has been making those of us who are already worried even more worried.
“When was the last time she took the medicine?” Harland asked.
“She just took it.” Misty responded, sounding very annoyed that he asked.
“Just make sure she’s….” Harland started but was quickly cut off by Misty shooting him a very intimidating look that said if he continued his sentence she was going to kill him.
Knowing fully that her patience was waring very thin dealing with this situation for Freya I asked as politely as possible, “Is there anything we can do to help?” and I was given a dismissive hand wave telling me to shut up. So, shut up I did.
I just sat there watching my poor wife in misery.
“I’m so cold mom.” Freya said to Misty as she pressed another damp sponge on her forehead.
“I know baby, but your body is burning up.” Misty whispered trying to keep her tears at bay. Misty has been beyond amazing through this. Facing the facts headstrong as she puss the discomfort on Freya for the sake of hoping that we can get her through this and keep her with us on the other side of this.
“Alpha.” Levi announced himself as he entered the room. He walked over to me and bent down to whisper in my ear. “That witch is downstairs. She says the moon goddess sent her.”
I’m really glad that he didn’t say that aloud. I don’t want anyone to hear that, I need to figure this out before saying anything like that to anyone.
“I need to go handle a matter downstairs.” I turned to Freya, “Baby do you need me to get you anything?” She shook her head and gave me a very weak smile.
When I got downstairs I greeted Belladona and requested that she quickly meet me in my office before anyone else sees her here.
“Not that I don’t enjoy that you’d visit, but given the situation I just need to ask why you’re here.” I said to Belladona as I closed my office door behind us.
“The moon goddess informed me of the situation and said that I needed to come and see if I could perform my healing on her along with her father.” She popped a gum bubble in her mouth. She was just looking at her nails the whole time. “She said that she wanted to try everything possible to help Freya.” She finally looked up at me.
“Well, thank you for coming. I’m sure she will be grateful for your help.” I said. Trying to not allow myself to get my hopes up.
I walked her into the room, right away I could sense a change on Belladona’s face as she saw Freya. “Wow, they really messed you up didn’t they?” Well damn Belladona, lay it on gently why don’t you.
Freya tried to laugh, but she was having another contraction. “They’re getting closer.” Misty said.
“What are you doing here?” Freya asked between breaths.
“The Goddess thought maybe I could do some healing spells to help with the healing ability your dad has been doing. She just wants to try all she can to help.” Belladona told Freya. “Do you mind?” Belladona walked right over to Freya to begin.
“Oh, yeah of course thank you so much.” Freya said then she drew her breath in and tried to hold it while a contraction hit again. Damn, they are really close.
“Breathe baby. You can’t forget to breathe.” Misty whispered to her.
Belladona started mumbling something after she pulled a bone out of her bag and put on some kind of necklace made out of herbs of some sort. I know, great language here and very descriptive but I have no clue what any of this s**t is.
After another hour or so of Belladona healing and Harland healing she said that Sasha needed to get in here quickly. I linked Sasha and she was here in just a couple moments.
“I can’t stop my body Sasha. It keeps trying to push I don’t know what’s wrong.” Freya said, trying to keep her calm but she’s clearly freaking out.
“Alpha, you need to come and touch her. Your touch will help with the pain she’s feeling. We’re ready.” Sasha said to me.
I walked over and put my hands on Freya’s shoulders. Then what she said hit me, “Wait, ready? As in…” My thought trailed off as I watched Sasha lift Freya’s blanket up off her legs. and waive at everyone else to leave the room. Harland and Belladona stayed to keep doing the healing.
Before I knew it Freya was yelling as she worked on pushing out the baby.
Several minutes passed, and watching Freya go through this was killing me. Even though I was touching her, the pain was immense. I could feel it through our bond and though I was happy I wasn’t feeling it, every part of me wanted to transfer all of that pain and suffering through me so I could be the one enduring this for her.
Suddenly I heard Sasha say, “There’s the head Luna, keep going just one more and your little boy will be here!” With one more very labored push and loud yell I could feel her body slouch down.
Sasha held up the baby as Shasha’s helper cut the cord and worked on Freya to ready her for the next one.
“Our future Alpha, baby Hunter.” She said as she wrapped him in a blanket and handed him to Freya. Watching my beautiful wife hold my son was the best thing I’ve seen in my entire life. I couldn’t help the tears that flowed down my face.
I wasn’t alone. Freya let the tears fall as she cradled our son in her arms. For a moment, all the pain she was feeling disappeared. She looked so peaceful for just a moment and in that moment I forgot all the fear I had leading into this.
That was until I heard Sasha say she couldn’t get the blood to stop.
