So that’s what this was about.
Autumn Lopez finally understood why she’d been caught up in this mess.
Mars Wright, oh, Mars Wright, you’re a walking disaster!
Autumn clutched her stomach and told them the truth. “I had no idea what Mars did. He took the money to support his little mistress, so coming after me is useless.”
“Besides, we’re already divorced.”
“Divorced?”
The men were clearly out of the loop.
They probably didn’t know what had been happening with Cloudbreak Corporation recently, since they had to stay off the grid.
Autumn gave a cool nod and explained how she’d found out about Mars’s affair and tricked him into signing
the divorce papers.
“The divorce was finalized today. According to my original plan, I should be on my way to deliver the divorce
certificate to him right now.”
“Mrs. Wright, you’ve got some serious guts.”
“Mr. Wright is a real piece of work. Having a great wife like you and not appreciating it.”
“We’re not unreasonable guys. Since this has nothing to do with you, Mrs. Wright, I’ll contact my boss now
and see how we should handle this.”
Autumn was surprised they had some principles, a thought that almost made her laugh bitterly.
What principles could you expect from guys like these?
They probably just wanted to avoid any more trouble.
After all, their business was shady enough. If they ended up with a body on their hands, they’d be past the
point of no return.
“Our boss said we should take you to the event, Ms. Lopez.”
Who knew what their boss had said to him, but the man had even changed how he addressed her.
Autumn didn’t miss the flicker of respect in the man’s eyes. It struck her as odd, but with time running out, she didn’t dwell on it.
Right now, only one thought consumed her-

I have to get there as fast as I can and tear that scumbag Mars and that bitch Lydia to shreds!
“Thanks.”
Her phone was returned to her.
She unlocked the screen and saw it was flooded with missed calls and unread messages.
She glanced through them and saw Mars’s tone shift from sweet and expectant to furious and unhinged.
His latest message was a threat.
[Autumn, so this explains why you’ve been so hot and cold lately! This is what you were planning! I’m warning you, if you don’t show up now, don’t ever show up again. We’re getting a divorce!]
It seemed her not showing up on time had really humiliated Mars, to the point where he was now demanding
a divorce.
Autumn snapped a photo of the divorce certificate and sent it. [No need to shout. We’re already divorced!]
After sending it, she turned off her phone, ignoring whatever furious rant would come next.
In the hotel, Mars finally got a reply from Autumn, only to find it was a picture of their divorce certificate.
The two familiar faces in the photo instantly pulled his memory back to when they had just gotten married.
Autumn was always full of drive. The moment they were married, she started planning their future.
Mars had initially just been using her, but seeing how orderly his life became after they married and how his
career was steadily advancing, he couldn’t help but be moved.
But later…
Mars lowered his gaze, the anger in his heart vanishing without a trace.
He really had wronged Autumn in this marriage. He had let her down.
Mars opened their chat and sent a voice message, his tone so gentle it was like he was a different person.
“Autumn, I know you’re mad. I shouldn’t have said that. I was wrong to threaten you with divorce. Didn’t we
agree you’d be here for my birthday, and we’d make things work afterward? Please, hurry and come, okay? I
really can’t do this without you.”
“And with so many people here today, are you really going to make me host them all by myself? It’s my birthday, you can’t do this to me.”
By the end, his voice had a pleading, almost childish tone.
But his message was met with total silence. Autumn didn’t reply at all.
Mars was stunned, as if her message had been a figment of his imagination.

Chapter 182
But a closer look confirmed it: the photo from Autumn was still there.
So jarring he couldn’t bear to look at it a second time.
Knock, knock, knock.
At the sound of the knock, Mars quickly put his phone away and rushed to the door, his face lit up with joy. “Is
that you, Autumn?”
Standing outside was Lydia Lopez, wearing a mask and a hat.
She could only show up like this at an event like today’s, and she was already seething with resentment.
Hearing Mars still obsessing over Autumn was the last straw. Lydia snapped. “Autumn, Autumn, is she the only person you can think about?”
How ridiculous. If he loved her so much, why did he cheat in the first place?
When Mars saw it wasn’t Autumn at the door, the joy on his face slowly faded to indifference.
An indifference tinged with disgust.
“What are you doing here?”
Mars’s eyes swept over Lydia.
Dressed like that, she had none of her former gentle beauty. She looked more like some desperate paparazzi
who had snuck in.
He felt embarrassed and instinctively took a step back, putting distance between them, afraid someone
might misunderstand their relationship.
That single step back from Mars wounded Lydia deeply.
Even though she already knew he was unreliable.
But watching him show such open disgust–not even wanting to be seen in the same frame as her–made
something inside her snap.
“What am I doing? If I hadn’t come, how were you planning to clean up this mess? Has your precious Autumn shown up yet?”
“Isn’t it hilarious? The great Mr. Wright is throwing a party, and Mrs. Wright is nowhere to be found. You might be able to handle the humiliation, Mars, but the Lopez family can’t.”
Mars heard the underlying threat in her words. His brow furrowed as he asked impatiently, “What are you planning to do?”
Lydia gave Mars a mysterious smile. “You’ll find out what we’re going to do soon enough.”

“Mars, we’re doing this to help you. You’ll thank us for it.”
A bad feeling washed over Mars as he heard her words.
But before he could even ask, Lydia had already turned and hurried toward the main hall.
As the president of Cloudbreak Corporation, the business world’s newest dark horse, Mars Wright’s birthday party was a star–studded affair.
Everyone who was anyone, whether in business or not, had pulled strings to get an invitation and showed
The biggest names in business had even paid him the respect of attending in person, a testament to Cloudbreak’s influence.
Fearing Lydia would do something irreversible, Mars quickly chased after her.
But he was a step too late.
Lydia was already on the stage, microphone in hand, her expression grave. “I’m so sorry to have to share some incredibly infuriating and painful news on such a joyous occasion.”
“Mr. Wright’s wife–my own sister–has betrayed her marriage to Mars.”
