Chapter 212
The voice made everyone in the boutique freeze.
Autumn Lopez turned and raised an eyebrow.
She’d met this person once before.
The encounter had been memorable enough that Autumn had actually looked into
who she was afterward.
Ava Henderson, heiress to the Henderson family fortune.
The woman with her was likely Ruby Bennett, a relative of Owen Bennett’s.
One of Autumn’s best traits was that she never went into a fight she wasn’t
prepared to win.
When she first discovered Mars Wright was cheating on her and scheming with
Lydia Lopez, she had started plotting in secret.
On the day their divorce was finalized, she exposed the scumbag and the
backstabber for all the world to see.
And as for that day someone had given her a hard time during her meeting with Mr. Parker–though Autumn hadn’t pursued it back then, the more she thought about it, the more it felt off. She later contacted Mr. Parker again.
He had warned her that Ava Henderson was not someone to be taken lightly.
At the time, Autumn had been preoccupied with the divorce and hadn’t given it much thought.
But after learning more about the Bennett family situation, she finally understood where the problem lay.
Thanks to her connection with Ruby, Ava had a prime opportunity to get close to
Owen.

It was obvious she had a crush on him, which was why she was targeting Autumn.
Realizing all this, Autumn didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
If Ava likes Owen, she should just go after him directly.
Instead, she’s trying to intimidate me.
Whether it’s for love or a business alliance, that’s between a man and a woman. Why is she focusing all her energy on me? Does she just think I’m an easy target?
With that thought, Autumn offered Ava a polite smile. “Excuse me, miss, but this
dress is mine.”
Ava shot Autumn a contemptuous look.
“That’s not for you to decide. I like this dress too, and I’ll pay whatever it takes.”
Ava strode toward the dress. As she passed Autumn, she deliberately tried to
shoulder–check her out of the way.
But Autumn was ready for it and stepped back, easily avoiding the collision.
Ava burst out laughing.
As if Autumn’s move was a sign of surrender.
“I’ll take this dress,” Ava said, no longer bothering with Autumn. She turned to the staff. “Bag it up for me.”
“Well…”
“I’m sorry, miss, but this dress belongs to Mrs. Bennett-‘
“What Mrs. Bennett?”
Ava snapped, her face a mask of undisguised irritation and disgust. “You people are ridiculous. When did Owen Bennett get married? All this ‘Mrs. Bennett‘ crap… just because some people are shameless, does that mean you’re all brainless?”

Autumn’s face darkened.
It was clear that Ava was calling her brainless.
In Ava’s mind, Autumn must have shamelessly demanded the staff call her Mrs. Bennett. Her intentions were completely transparent.
“But-”
The sales associate tried to explain, but Ava had lost all patience. “Are you deaf? I said, I’ll pay extra for the dress!”
“Forget it. It’s pointless talking to you people. Get your boss out here. I’ll deal with her directly, how about that?”
The associate looked completely mortified.
“But, miss-”
“What is wrong with you?”
Ava had never met such a pig–headedly stupid employee.
She impatiently shoved the woman aside and started shouting in the middle of the boutique, “Is the owner here?”
“Your employee has a serious attitude problem and is being incredibly rude to a customer! Are you going to do something about it or not?”
With all the racket Ava was making, it was impossible for anyone in the back not to
hear.
The owner quickly emerged, and Autumn was surprised to see she was a remarkably young woman.
She looked like she might have just graduated from college. Unadorned by makeup, she wore simple, comfortable linen clothes.
Her hair was held up by a pencil, giving her a laid–back, casual air–less like a

designer and more like the girl next door.
Even Ava seemed taken aback by the owner’s appearance.
She stared for a few seconds before asking in disbelief, “You’re the owner of this boutique?”
The owner clearly didn’t appreciate Ava’s imperious tone and attitude. Her brow furrowed, and her expression soured. “Hello. How can I help you?”
In response, Ava said matter–of–factly, “I want to buy that dress. Name your price.”
The owner followed her finger. “I’m sorry, but that dress is not for sale.”
Ava was furious. “What do you mean, not for sale? It’s on display, and you’re telling me you won’t sell it?”
“Besides, your employee was about to give this dress to Autumn Lopez. Why is it suddenly ‘not for sale‘ when I want it?”
“What kind of way is that to run a business?”
Seeing Ava’s outburst, the associate explained defensively, “Ma’am, this lady insisted on buying the dress. I told her it belongs to Mrs. Bennett, and she just said she’d pay extra…”
