Nina covered her mouth. “So you really…”

Before Leo Rhodes could answer, she blurted out, “I swear I won’t tell a soul!”

Leo Rhodes couldn’t help but chuckle at her expression, as if she were afraid of being silenced.

“You don’t have to be so careful. I’m actually already over it.”

Nina looked at him, her heart aching. “Can you really just let it go?”

Just a moment ago, when Leo had mentioned Autumn Lopez, his eyes had lit up

with admiration.

She was a woman he’d once passionately pursued but never managed to win over.

Leo was brutally honest.

A smile touched Leo’s lips as he watched Nina puff up with anger.

“Autumn’s methods of revenge might not be as violent as you describe, but they’re

not bad,”

Nina puffed out her chest proudly. “Of course! That’s my sister–in–law we’re talking

about!”

Not many women could capture the heart of someone like her brother, Owen–he was completely out of everyone’s league.

Nina had been intensely curious about Autumn Lopez from the start, and when they finally met, she had an “of course” moment.

Seeing that his smile looked more pained than a grimace, Nina thought for a moment and said, “Want me to buy you a drink? I know a bar with an amazing bartender. The drinks will make your taste buds ascend to heaven.”

Normally, with Leo’s personality, he wouldn’t agree to go drinking with a young woman like Nina.

But today, perhaps because he’d just confessed a secret he’d kept for years, he was tempted.

Nina was an expert at reading people. Noticing that Leo was actually considering it, she immediately grabbed his arm. “Let’s go, let’s go! Did you forget what I just said? He who hesitates is lost! If we have an idea, we should just do it. No hesitation!”

Her words left Leo at a loss for whether to laugh or cry.

“Alright, then. I’ll throw caution to the wind and keep you company tonight.”

“Shit! They actually got away! Go, find out who that little brat and that pretentious asshole are. They dared to mess with my godmother? I’ll kill those two!”

Seeing their leader, Kurt, so angry, the others agreed without a second thought. Kurt tossed the baseball bat aside, pulled a cigarette from his pocket, and lit it. This tennis club was frequented by the rich, and Kurt had been desperately trying to find a shortcut to the top. Unfortunately, with his looks, no one gave him the time of day.

He’d finally managed to suck up to a wealthy lady who’d taken him in as her “godson,” only for someone to go and bully her.

As her godson, of course he had to put on a good show. Otherwise, wouldn’t he break his godmother’s heart?
