Chapter 102
Chapter 102
After reading the chat screen. Rodger and Danelle finally gained some insight into Gideon.
Danelle said angrily. “That Lillian is so unreasonable.”
Rodger grinned. “Honestly, given the circumstances, you can’t really blame Gideon.”
He thought, ‘In the island hunt, even total strangers might kill each other, let alone the fact that Lillian’s classmate tried to steal Gideon’s weapon.
‘In a peaceful world, what Lillian’s classmate did would only count as attempted theft, but in this survival world, it’s not wrong for Gideon to have killed her. Man, what a messed–up world.‘
Leeanne just shut off the chat screen and focused on gnawing on her chicken leg.
[It’s midnight. The island hunt is over. 45,228 players survived in District 33. All survivors will be teleported back to their rafts. 10, 9, 8… 3, 2, 1. Teleportation commencing!]
Leeanne was still clutching her chicken leg when, in a flash, she found herself back on the raft.
‘Finally, I’m back!‘ Leeanne thought.
Her clothes were damp and filthy, smeared with mud and all sorts of nasty stuff from her fight with the frog.
She couldn’t take it anymore, so she hurried to the automatic shower cubicle, threw all her dirty clothes in for a wash, washed her hair, took a shower, and then changed into clean clothes.
By the time she stepped out, it was already past one in the morning.
While she was showering, the chat screen forced itself open, announcing that the island hunt scores would be tallied and rewards handed out at nine in the morning.
Pretty considerate. At least they’re letting everyone get a good night’s sleep,’ Leeanne thought.
But sleep was the last thing on anyone’s mind.
The chat screen was still buzzing. Everyone was riding the adrenaline rush after making it through the island hunt.
Leeanne was totally wiped out. She flopped onto her bed and crashed out instantly.
The next morning, maybe it was excitement, or maybe the sunlight was just too strong, but Lecanne woke up at eight. The sun was already rising over the sea, waves rolling and sparkling under the golden dawn.
Leeanne narrowed her eyes at the bright light.
‘What a clear, sunny day, she thought.
Yesterday had been so exhausting and dangerous. Today, she was determined to take it easy and really rest.
‘A perfect day starts with a delicious breakfast. I’m definitely going to treat myself this morning. Leeanne thought. But what should I eat? Oatmeal? Sandwich? Pasta? Cookies or bread?
‘Nah, that’s way too boring. What I really want is some savory pancakes, milk, and fried doughnuts, especially tried doughnuts..

Yes, I’m going to make fried doughnuts. Even though I don’t have baking powder or special doughnut leavening agents, yeast will work just fine.
Without a second thought, Leeanne immediately gathered the ingredients, including vegetable oil, milk, flour, yeast, eggs,
and salt.
Luckily, she had everything she needed. She was seriously relieved she hadn’t finished off that whole box of milk. She’d been pretty stingy with it, only drinking a few cartons, so there was still plenty left.
The only problem was that she didn’t have a proper mixing bowl. After a quick look around, Leeanne decided to use a small pot instead.
She dumped the flour, a carton of milk, an egg, a splash of vegetable oil, and a pinch of salt into the pot, mixed everything, and started kneading. She didn’t overdo it, just punched the dough a few times with her fist, like the old–school way.
Once the dough was mixed, Leeanne put the lid on the pot and set it aside to rest.
While waiting for the dough to rest, she figured she’d feed the chickens and rabbits.
As she headed toward the chicken coop, Fluffy kept trailing her and causing trouble. Sometimes it would cling to her leg, whining and begging for a hug, and other times it would roll right in front of her, acting as if she’d just run it over.
Leeanne was helpless against Fluffy’s antics, so she scooped it up and gave it a little cuddle to keep it happy.
Not far away, the chickens and rabbits were making a racket. They were hungry too.
Leeanne had no choice but to set Fluffy down and get up to feed the chickens and rabbits.
But as soon as she stood up, Fluffy immediately clung to her leg, huffing and puffing as it tried to climb up.
“You little rascal!” Leeanne sighed, scooping Fluffy up. She ended up holding it in one arm while she finished feeding the chickens and rabbits.
She couldn’t help it. Fluffy was so tiny that Leeanne almost felt like she was taking care of a baby.
This isn’t right. Fluffy’s way too lonely. I need to find it some friends, or maybe make it a few toys,‘ Leeanne thought.
As she pondered, she pulled out a strawberry and fed it to Fluffy.
“Woo woo!” Fluffy sat happily on Leeanne’s lap, munching away on the strawberry.
Little Blue was perched on the edge of the wooden pleasure boat’s roof. As soon as it saw the strawberry, it swooped down, rubbing up against Leeanne’s leg and chirping in a cutesy voice, “Peach! I want a cherry. Woo woo!”
‘Seriously? Now it’s copying Fluffy’s noises, Leeanne thought, amused. She grinned and gave it a gentle pat. “What, strawberries aren’t good enough for you anymore?”
Little Blue looked a bit put out. “Strawberries are fine, I guess.”
Leeanne laughed. “Wow, so picky. Alright, skip the strawberries then. I’ll grab you a cherry when I get the chance.”
Little Blue got anxious, “No, I want strawberries, Strawberries!”
Little Blue wasn’t about to trust Leeanne’s “when I get the chance.” That probably meant never. So it figured it’d better grab some strawberries now to satisfy its craving.

Leeanne handed it a few strawberries.
As she fed Little Blue and Fluffy, she glanced toward the house.
It’s been a long while, but why hasn’t Snowy come out yet?‘ she wondered.

Yesterday, she’d let Little Blue and Snowy roam free, but since Snowy was so tiny, she wasn’t at ease leaving it on its own, so she kept it safe in her bedroom.
When she first woke up, she spotted Snowy curled up in the corner of her room, fast asleep, so she didn’t disturb it.
But now it was already late. She wondered why it was still snoozing.
‘Strawberries are one of Snowy’s favorite foods, so why isn’t it coming out for a snack? Leeanne wondered.
She started to worry, so she put Fluffy down and went into the house.
As soon as Fluffy tumbled down, it immediately latched onto Leeanne’s leg again, whining and begging for attention.
“Come on. Fluffy, don’t make a fuss. I need to check on the new kid.” Leeanne said, reaching into the storage box and pulling out a few fresh vegetables to keep Fluffy distracted.
While Fluffy was busy munching on the vegetables, Leeanne headed inside.
Snowy was still fast asleep, curled up in the same spot as this morning. It hadn’t moved an inch.
Leeanne started to worry. This little guy is so tiny. What if something’s wrong with it?”
She walked over and gently stroked Snowy. It was still soft and fluffy, and didn’t seem off at all.
Feeling Leeanne’s touch, Snowy lifted its head, half–opened its bright green eyes, and nuzzled her hand.
‘Maybe it’s just worn out, or maybe it’s still adjusting to the new place, Leeanne thought.
She set a few strawberries in front of Snowy, then left the bedroom and made sure to close the door behind her.
“Did the lamb die?” Little Blue was waiting at the door, practically bouncing with excitement. “Come on, let’s roast it while it’s still fresh. Don’t waste any time!”
“Get lost!” Leeanne snapped, shoving Little Blue aside. She shut the door again and warned it, “Don’t you dare go in there, or I’ll roast you instea!”
Suddenly, Leeanne was taken aback. Why did Little Blue say Snowy was dead? Little Blue always had a sharp tongue, but it had never actually wished anyone dead before.
The more Leeanne thought about it, the more uneasy she got. She’d already walked several steps away, but ended up turning back to the bedroom. She gently checked on the sleeping Snowy, still soft and warm, so she finally let out a sigh of relief.
She decided to head to the mystical cherry grove. She’d been so busy all morning that she’d totally forgotten to get her luck
boost.
As soon as she stepped into the mystical cherry grove, before she could even think about getting her luck boost, a strange sound caught her attention.
“Peep, peep!”

What’s that noise? Leeanne wondered, following the sound. Then she sported a few fluffy chucks gathered around the cherry tree.
The chicks were all fluffy and yellow, peeping nonstop as they snaggled together.
The chicks have hatched? Leeanne thought, her heart skipping a brat
