Leeanne’s sharp eyes caught sight of a wooden chest at the edge where the beach met the rocks. It was identical to the one she’d fished out of the sea.
Half of the chest was buried in the sand.
She made up her mind right away.
I have to go ashore, Leeanne thought. At the very least, I need to grab that chest. What if the waves wash it away tomorrow?‘
Worst case, she’d stay close by and head back to the raft if anything went wrong.
To go ashore, she’d need an iron anchor to keep the raft from drifting off, so Leeanne quickly pulled up the workbench
menu.
[Fishing Rod: Used to reel in treasure chests. Materials needed: wood 0/3, iron 24/1.]
[Paddle: Lets you row the raft wherever you want, though it’s not much help once the raft gets too big. Materials needed: wood 149/10, nails 170/10.]
[Iron Anchor: Keeps the raft secure. Materials needed: iron 24/6.]
‘I need to make a paddle,‘ Leeanne thought. ‘If anything crazy happens, I can get away way faster with one.
[Iron Anchor: Keeps the raft secure. Materials needed: iron 24/6. Do you want to craft it?]
“Yes!” Leeanne replied.
Six iron disappeared, and the workbench chimed as an iron anchor appeared, complete with a long chain.
Leeanne fastened one end of the chain to the raft, and as the raft got close to the island, she tossed the anchor onto a rock at the edge of the shore.
Next, she crafted a pair of paddles and set them on the raft.
After tidying up her stuff, Leeanne stepped off the raft and set foot on the island.
[Ding! Congratulations, Leeanne! As the first player to set foot on the island, you’ve earned a reward–an automatic shower cubicle. The reward will be delivered shortly.]
‘Wait, I’m the first one to set foot on this island?‘ Leeanne thought, a little stunned. ‘And I get an automatic shower cubicle as
a reward?
She was momentarily stunned, but then a huge grin spread across her face.
‘An automatic shower cubicle? That sounds crazy fancy and insanely useful, exactly what I need, she thought. her eyes lighting up.
It had been two whole days since her last shower.
With the heat blazing and all the nonstop work, she was drenched in sweat–she probably reeked by now.
Just picturing a hot shower after a long, exhausting day was pure bliss.
Too bad she had no clue when the system’s “shortly” was actually supposed to happen.

While thinking about all this, Leeanne headed for the chest on the beach.

She dug the chest out of the sand, dragged it a few steps, and set it on higher ground. Then, unable to wait any longer, she popped it open.
[Congratulations! Thanks to today’s Lady Luck, you’ve received: stainless steel pot (with steamer insert) x1, stainless steel bowl and chopsticks x1.]
“Whoa, it’s actually a pot and bowl!‘ Leeanne thought, her eyes lighting up.
She was thrilled. Not only did she have a stove now, but also a pot–and she had oats! ‘Does this mean I can finally have warm soup for dinner tonight?‘ she thought, practically bouncing with excitement.
Lady Luck is seriously awesome; it just wiped out so many problems in one go.
Leeanne couldn’t wipe the grin off her face. She was absolutely thrilled.
After thinking it over, she decided to grab everything when she headed back. She still had some time left, so she figured she’d poke around a bit more in the area.
She closed the chest and looked around to check things out.
From where she stood, the island didn’t have much vegetation. It was mostly rocks, dirt, with a few big trees scattered here
and there.
That was actually a good thing. She could see everything out in the open, so she didn’t have to worry about snakes or random animals jumping out at her.
Leeanne wasn’t about to mess with any thick woods, so she just walked up the slope, hoping to find some fruit hanging from
the branches.
After another ten minutes or so, she finally made it to the trees.
[Tip: Medium hemlock tree. Can be chopped down with an axe. Hard and resistant to water.]
Leeanne’s eyes sparkled. ‘So that’s how you get wood!‘ she thought. ‘No wonder breaking down chests and fishing them out only gave me a few pieces. Chopping down trees, that’s where the real wood haul comes from.’
And this wood was water–resistant, perfect for her raft.
Too bad she didn’t have any tools. She’d have to figure out how to get an axe later.
Leeanne ran her hand over the hemlock tree and kept moving along.
After a while, she spotted a dark cave. She circled around it, but didn’t dare go
inside.
After all, she didn’t have any weapons. What if there were dangerous animals lurking inside?
Besides, she was running out of time.
She made a mental note of the spot and kept moving toward the areas with fewer trees.
Suddenly, she tripped over something. Looking down, she saw a black lump. When she touched it, her hand turned black.
Wait, is this… a coal chunk? Leeanne thought, her eyes widening in surprise.

[Survival Tip: Coal chunks can be used to make compressed coal for heating. If you find coal chunks scattered around, there’s likely a coal mine nearby. You can mine coal with a pickaxe!]
Great, so I need tools for this, too? Leeanne thought, feeling a bit annoyed.
She picked up a coal chunk, glanced around, and found two more lying nearby.
She marked the spot, planning to come back tomorrow.
With things getting urgent, Leeanne didn’t dare wander too far. She scanned the area and spotted some mineable rocks, marking each one. As the sun started to set, she hurried back to the shore.
